Chapter 5.8: Lilith Winterburn

Chapter 5.8: Lilith Winterburn

Blare's work ended in the evening. The moment she walked out of the company, Ace's Rolls-Royce Sweptail car is already waiting for her.

Blare immediately quicken her pace. As a student majoring in business, she was taught how a worker should not make a high-ranking person wait.

The tinted glass of the car lowered and she saw Ace in the driver's seat.

"Good eve--"

"Get in" Ace cut her off with his usual cold tone.

Blare flinched and entered the car. She sat on the passenger seat. Blare looked at Ace, trying to read any emotions from the man. Unfortunately, she couldn't read any expression on his face.

"I'm sorry Sir. I didn't notice the time, I apologize for making you wait." Blare said as she lowered her head. She wanted to shrink and hide in a hole.

"It's fine," Ace said, Blare looked up and saw the man was already close to her. Too close.

Blare leaned back but Ace leaned in.

"Wha--" Blare was cut off when Ace reached for her seat belt and wore it on her. Then Ace leaned back and start up the car. He drove, not uttering a single word.

Blare felt her breath shorten. She was actually thinking that the man might kiss her.

'I'm probably traumatized' Blare wanted to smack herself for assuming that the big boss would kiss her. But she felt her heartbeat from nervousness.

'Men here are so dense' Blare thought as she disregards the feeling and focused her attention on the road.

Meanwhile, Ace was stealing a glance at Blare from time to time. The woman was not even paying attention to him. He smiled wryly while driving. He was thinking about Blare's panicked expression when he leaned in but felt disappointed that all he received was confusion on the woman's face.

After 30 minutes of silence, they arrived at a big building. The white marble building has a speck of gold in a closer look. The double exterior mahogany door complements the soothing look of the building. The cursive name of the store, "Maribella" was decorated at the top of the mahogany door. Blare was greeted by an antique style when the door burst open.

Blare and Ace walked inside and were greeted by a beautiful red-haired woman who looked like she was in her early 40s. Blare gaped at her features, there were some unnoticeable wrinkles on her face but her soft and gentle smile made her look younger.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

"Welcome, Mr. LeCoultre and Ms. Winterburn. This way please." the woman guided them. Blare was not surprised that she was known, she guessed that Ace already made a reservation to this store. But she was still feeling a little conflicted.

"Sir, isn't the dresses here cost like.. a hundred pounds?" Blare whispered to the man beside her. Blare was feeling conflicted because she doesn't want to spend a hundred pounds on a dress.

"A million" Ace said nonchalantly. Blare stopped walking and tugged his suit, causing the man to stop on his tracks.

"I don't have that much money..!" Blare whispered as fear is apparent in her tone and face.

"It's fine" Ace held Blare's hand that was tugging on his suit and lock it in his left arm.

"I invited you so I'll be paying," He said as he continued walking, causing Blare to follow helplessly.

Blare exhaled in relief, "Thank you.."

Still, guilt is apparent in her tone. Blare doesn't like owing something from other people. But in this case, it was Ace, a high ranked man with a lot of money. Blare can only accept helplessly to avoid offending the man.

From what she learned through Lilith's knowledge, people with money take pride in their wealth. Refusing their "goodwill" will make it seem like you're stomping on their pride.

Blare snapped out of her thoughts when she realized she was locking arms with Ace. The action seemed so natural to her. After all, she was used in locking arms with Zhao Kang back in the last world.

She turned stiff as they walked. Ace sensed this and a small smile escaped his lips.

They arrived in a private changing room. Inside was a golden chair that was designed like a chair used by royalty back in the Victorian era.

The room was white but the small gold chandeliers and gold marble floor matched it.

Blare felt like she was walking on money.

"This is the changing room Ms. Winterburn." the red-haired woman stared at her gently, which made Blare confused for a second.

She still followed the woman and escaped Ace's hold. While Ace sat on the golden chair and waited.

Blare thought that she will only wear three dresses.

But no!

Ace was unsatisfied with the dresses she wore.

It was her 11th dress and she was set on going home if Ace was still unsatisfied. She walked out of the dressing room with a slight frown on her face.

"Perfect" Ace said as she eyed Blare.

"For fuck's sake," she mumbled and rolled her eyes. But Ace was able to read her lips and understood what she said. His lips curved up in delight as he discovered a new, rough side of her.

Added to the fact that the woman looks stunning and bewitching. Ace's full attention landed on her, especially when she gracefully turned around to admire her full outfit.

Blare was wearing a Mermaid Rose Gold Dress. The dress has spaghetti straps. It exposes her bare shoulder, arms, and back. Her beige skin perfectly matches the rose gold colour, added with her long blonde hair and sharp crystal blue eyes.

Blare doesn't like the dress. Her cleavage and back were out in the open and it was required that she walk slowly and gracefully. She felt naked as well.

She can only sigh in defeat. Blare refused to try another dress and was tired at this point.

Meanwhile, the man's gaze darkened. As if he was trying to control a beast that is threatening to pounce on her.
