Chapter 5.20: Lilith Winterburn

Chapter 5.20: Lilith Winterburn

Many people had anticipated Comperio's opening. Thanks to the internet cafe's location, they were able to gather most of the students from the college level.

What Comperio offers are already posted online and through the flyers they distributed. In case someone was still clueless about how the system in Comperio works, Blare and Lance assisted them patiently.

"Are the drinks really unlimited?" one student asks worriedly.

"Certainly, miss. However, a person can only take one glass tumbler. If you wish to change your glass, you have to ask one of our staffs and they will gladly assist you." Lance replied.

"Also, alcohols are only available during Fridays and Saturdays - with your IDs," Blare added, even if it's already announced online and through flyers.

Those who heard Blare whined disappointedly. While some weren't surprised because they're already aware.

"Studies still comes first. We wouldn't want to be reported by your parents or your school" Blare said as some students laughed - basically agreeing to Blare's statement.

A lot of students are in groups and stayed in a big room.

A lot also went alone and stayed in a single room.

Blare was not afraid if some stuff would be broken. She made it clear online and a warning was posted at every part of the room that they will be held responsible if they broke something. Especially the machines!

At 1 pm, all the rooms are already booked. Others who missed the chance to book a room, helplessly retreated.

Blare stayed in the manager's office with Rhieanne. While Lance stayed at the counter, along with the other four personnel.

"Business is going well, Lilith. Are you still going to work as an apprentice in interior design?" Rhieanne asked while leisurely sitting on the sofa.

Both already met two years ago, exactly when Blare moved out of the Seaside Subdivision.

Rhieanne was the granddaughter of the old lady - which was the landlady of her flat. She was also the one who introduced Blare to the apartment.

Because of Rhieanne's skill at persuading, Blare eventually got hooked and rented the apartment. Even better, whatever words that came out of Rhieanne's mouth were facts. However, all the facts that came out of her mouth were very pleasant to one's ears that Blare slightly regretted being swayed at her words and not considering the other factors.

Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.

After renting the apartment, Blare had already known that no aircon was installed. She also can't renovate the place - such as painting the white wall another colour, placing different marble tiles on the bathroom, and drill a hole on the wall.

Not having aircon made the temperature in the room either super hot or super cold. And not being able to drill a hole in the wall made it very inconvenient for her kitchen tools and paintings, because there's no way to hang them.

She felt cheated, but thinking about the rule, Blare placed her painting on the wall by using |×|VHB double-sided adhesive tape.

When the landlady found out about it, she didn't get angry. Instead, she admired Blare's painting and even offered to buy it. Blare gladly gave one of her sunflower painting for free, which the old lady accepted with enthusiasm.

Blare did that in hopes of persuading the old lady to let her build an air conditioner in her room. Fortunately, she finally allowed Blare to have an air-conditioned room.

Although Blare was slightly disappointed that the place can't be renovated, she was still appreciative because the place emits the feeling of home - and it's air-conditioned.

"Yes, after that, I'll handle my own business... and expand." Blare smirked at Rhieanne.

Rhieanne raised a brow. "What's with that look? (laughs) Fine, I'll join... that was my plan ever since I accepted this job."

"The landlady will be sad if she hears that."

Rhieanne giggled. "Puh-lease! Grandma would be happy that I finally got hired!"

Both laughed, imagining the relief in landlady's face.

Rhieanne offended someone from a higher company. She revealed to Blare that she was sexually harassed.

The one who harassed her insisted that he got seduced and even accused Rhieanne of climbing in his bed to raise her pay.

Furious, Rhieanne punched the man two times. The third punch didn't land because her co-workers stopped her.

After that, the man swore that Rhieanne wouldn't be able to step in any company around London.

So, having a job at Comperio broke a chain that was blocking Rhieanne's heart.

"Thanks, Lilith." Rhieanne sincerely said as she raised her wine glass.

In turn, Blare raised her open water glass bottle. Then both clinked it together and shouted, "Cheers!"

Before both of them could drink, a knock was heard then the door opened, revealing Lance.

"Uh, Miss Lilith, a man came to see you"

"A man?" Blare and Rhieanne inquired in unison.

"Oooh... Probably, sir Ace~" Rhieanne teased.

Lance crossed his arms and smirked. "Yup, it's him."

Blare laughed and shook her head at their teasing look.

"Oh that's right, you call each other by names now! How sweet!" Rhieanne rolled her eyes.

Blare saw this and giggled. "Well how about calling him by name too. So you won't feel left out."

Rhieanne warily looks at Blare and warned her not to say more through her eyes.

Blare chuckled and walked out of the manager's office, along with Lance.

Upon reaching the lobby, Blare saw two men facing each other.

Blare stopped walking but both men still noticed her presence.

Blare sighed and greeted the two. "Sir Ace... and..."

She looked unhappily at the other man.

"Dad."
