Gemini sat in Aingeil's Wing. He sat lotus style as he rested his elbows on his legs, and his head on his hands. This was a time of peace. A time to reflect on all that had happened. It was crazy that any of this happened at all. He knew trouble would follow soon but at the very least it has been slowed down.
Upon how much help Trex has been, Gemini decided to rotate Trex out of Advent Village duty more often. Have one of the other Integras take over in given shifts. With everything that has happened with Drexel, it would be best that she didn't sit and meditate on it as she babysat the unstable advents.
Then there was Drexel's mention of Dolus. It was crazy to think Dolus even existed. But then again, maybe not. It's been years since Tolvia has scattered. That means within that time of Tolvia's weakened state, Dolus would have chance to hide away and grow in power. Tolvia had explained to him of Dolus' existence; but, never seeing the villain himself, Gemini had always wondered if it was one of Tolvia's many parables of good and evil. Although, if Drexel mentioned the name, there must be more to it all.
Legend stated that centuries ago, Dolus was a Veithan gone rogue. He practiced many arts forbidden by the Veithan Creed. Some including creating volatile weapons and unauthorized experimentations on fellow Veithans. Though his arts forbidden, his skills gained a following and he decided to form his own region far from the former Integras' reach. Where this region has never been revealed to Gemini.
It was rumored that Dolus himself was the sole one responsible for the Nocturn Swarm the many years ago. But no proof of Dolus' existence surfaced. And if he is still alive and well, what's his aim now? And how did Drexel get tangled with such company?
It made no sense. But it had to be a reason. Gemini walked amongst the planets and stars. He placed his hand on a planet before walking once more. Everyone within Veith seemed at peace. Maybe this was truly the calm before the storm.
"Gemini!" a voice said in the distance.
Gemini turned and noticed one of the planets were glowing red. Gemini ran to the planet.
"Yes, Trex?" Gemini said.
"Meet me in Kindrala in 10 minutes!"
"Why what's –?"
"Gemini, just do it! Please!"
He nodded. "I'm on my way!"
~
Trex was sitting the edge of a rooftop, letting her legs dangle to and fro. Gemini crossed his arms as he approached her.
"What's the emergency?" He asked.
Trex turned around with a smile. "Nothing really. Thought this would be the fastest way to get your attention."
Gemini sighed. "For what reason?"
"To thank you of course for saving Trutess. Or are you too high and mighty to receive thanks nowadays?"
Gemini smiled and sighed. "No, I'm not. You're welcome. But, I take it there's more to this then just a thank you."
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Trex smiled. "You sure are sharp. Actually, there is one other thing. It's about the little girl."
Gemini sat next to her. "Ok, what about her?"
"Do you think she's destined to save the world from Dolus?"
Gemini went silent. Save the world? That little girl? Not that he hasn't heard about stories. He had heard many fantasy stories but this? "I don't follow. Why do you think that?"
"You know, upon closer inspection, the doctor noticed that the piece of Tolvia wasn't in her. It was on her. On her in the form of a key. It was translucent. So translucent she almost didn't realize it was there."
"Just like it says in the Tolvian Creed, 'Upon the bearer's request and divine right, the key to one's heart is hidden from plain sight.'"
"Exactly, yet the Tolvian Creed never mentioned that keys had powers. The books, sure. But, the keys were meant only to unlock the books in order to become part of Tolvia's whole once again."
Gemini pondered on this. Though far-fetched, this could be part of Tolvia's plan to recover. He shook his head. "But it was my fault those keys were sent to Earth. It's clearly stated that the guardians were to be the ultimate protectors of Tolvia. Not a child."
"Correction: children." She pulled out her orb and gave it to Gemini.
Gemini peered into it noticing a child playing with toys in a store. "Who is this?"
"Just a child I personally ran into on Earth. And from the looks of it, he's no older than the little girl. And I take it, you remember the lightning incident a few years back?"
How could he forget? It was a major storm that nearly took out a village.
"Maybe," Trex said, placing her hand on her chin. "Just maybe that was another child just like this one here? They have immense power, Gemini. Power that almost trumps the Integras. Probably even yours. Do you really think that happened simply by accident? What if the guardians that the Creed speak of were never supposed to be the Integras? What if Tolvia wanted this all along?"
"That's pretty far-fetched considering. The Integras have always been protectors of Tolvia. Even before I was given this position, the former Integras were doing all the work. The Integras now are carrying that mantel, not children."
"Okay, well think of it this way. When they become of more responsible age, it would be wise to train them. Train them to control their powers when they come here. As you can tell, they will come again."
Gemini scratched his head. She had a point. A very valid point. This wasn't just something to dismiss considered the damage only one child did to a village. It was worth looking into, that's for sure. This meant he had to do set a few things in motion.
"Alright," Gemini said, "I'll add this to the situation. They can find the books when they become of age. The keys original function was to be used as a compass to the other books. This may serve us well if they were the ones in charge of doing so."
Trex's eyes widened. "Whoa! I wouldn't go as far as saying they would be in charge of finding them. They're still children after all."
"They are right now, but give it time. I have a feeling they will become of age to deal with the matter soon enough. There's already one who may already be able to help us out."
"Who?"
Gemini was going to say her name, but shook his head. "A friend from Earth, but thinking back on it, she hasn't shown up yet and she's well within her teen years. If she hasn't shown up now like the two children, I doubt she would now."
"I take it this girl saw you?"
Gemini nodded. "Yes, but that possibly could mean something else entirely. She must have a connection with Veith in some way."
Trex frowned. "So, what will you do?"
"Keep an eye on her as well. And I will need help from the rest of the Integras. We need to find the other children."
Trex smiled. "Wow, we've officially became a babysitter club. And to think I do enough of that already with the Advents."
Gemini laughed. "I understand. I babysit Veith for a living. A few young ones wouldn't hurt us if we work together."
Trex then looked back at the people. "Still, wish I knew what caused the girl to show up in the first place. She disappeared the moment we returned her to the doctor's office."
"Yeah, but we'll do what we can to help them."
Trex looked back at Gemini once more. "So, what will we call these children?"
He pondered for a bit before thinking about his own power. The part of him that is the most help to others. "Vessels. We've found the Aqua Vessel. Now, to find the others."
