Chapter 14 - Redeem or Regret?

Chapter 14 - Redeem or Regret?

He was walked deeper into the forest. The town people were no longer around. As they walked closer into the area, it was clear that they were in an open field. In the center of it all, sat several monsters guarding the cage with the little girl in it. Cassie. Her body was stretched out and eyes were closed as she clasped the bars. Poor girl must've cried herself to sleep trying to escape. Guess now she isn't the only one feeling trapped.

The Advent people were being escorted by several people. None of which were villagers. But they weren't like this when he was arrested. They also were wearing all black like Drexel. Just who were they? This was absurd. He himself was being escorted by several of the mysterious people. Trex was not too far behind being escorted as well.

This was quite the fine situation they had going for themselves. Gemini turned to Trex. "Hey, are you doing alright?"

"Peachy," she stated with a slight huff. "This is not how we discussed the plan."

"True. Will it end still as intended? We'll see."

Trex raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? By the way, where's the other-?"

"Hey, quit your yapping!" One of the guards said as he pushed him forward.

Gemini gritted his teeth as he looked behind him. He sighed before facing Trex. He decided to speak in a much softer tone. "Don't worry."

The heroes were just mere yards away from the cage. Drexel, looking mighty proud of himself regarding the situation, bowed before them. "Alright, you so called heroes. Ready to meet your demise?"

"Us? Nah, we're good," one of the Advent guys said.

Drexel scowled. "I wasn't talking to you."

"If it's a fight you want to pick, why not do that instead?" Gemini said.

"A fight?" Drexel said and laughed. "You must be mistaken. I rather kill you and not even deal with the fighting. Much cleaner that way, you know?"

"And to what end would this solve?" Trex said. "You kill off the one guardian with connection with Tolvia and then what?"

"He'll be replaced. He's not fit to watch over Veith." Drexel replied.

"Oh please," Gemini said. "What makes you think you can? You don't even have my power to deal with healing the masses. So, tell me, what would this solve again?"

Drexel turned away from them both. "It's a plan much bigger than you and I. You'll see."

Gemini shook his head. What exactly was Drexel's plan here? There's a plethora of things he's leaving out. But if it involved the Integras' souls and Cassie, it had to mean something.

Trex then nudged Gemini. "Now what?"

"Shhh," Gemini whispered. "Just wait."

Drexel then turned around to face the group once more. "So, any last requests before you die?"

"I do actually," Gemini replied.

Drexel raised an eyebrow. "Alright, let's hear it."

"I propose you turn yourself in and give up this charade before things get much worse."

Drexel snickered. "You lecture me about things getting worse? This is rich."

"Why wouldn't it?" Gemini said. "I mean, you are the bad guy here. Burning homes and taking names. Capturing innocence and throwing it away. And as you know, evil can never prevail too long in Veith. Tolvia and the Integras make sure of that."

"Well, Tolvia is scattered and most of the Integras are dead. So, what do you propose will be the solution of this little conundrum?"

Gemini sighed. "Well, for one, using Advent-specific ropes to bind me was not the smartest idea. Granted that this seems tougher than the Integras' Bind technique, doesn't mean it's..." Gemini scrunched his face, ripped the binding from his wrists and sighed. "Not impossible."

Drexel's eyes widened. "How did you?" He gritted his teeth. "Some of the strongest beings in Veith could never break those."

Gemini sighed. "That's not all. All this time I take it you didn't notice two things. For starters, look up."

Drexel looked above to notice something floating. Something round and quite familiar. "A communication core! Why would it...?"

"Now, look behind you."

Drexel turned around and noticed the bars to the cage were dissolved. It was as if some acid ate away at the bars. Drexel glared at Gemini once more. "You! What did you do?"

Gemini laughed. "Wasn't me. Maybe a fourth Advent with a communication core of his own who likes to see things burn and is willing to capture a child or two, but not me."

Gemini extended his glowing hand at Trex's wrists, breaking her free from the bondage as well. He summoned his weapon, twirling it with one hand. "You see, you never really had a chance to begin with. You caught me off guard, sure, when you murdered my allies but that will also change. Trex, break the others free!"

Trex nodded her head and started to run, but several guards blocked her path. She punched them both, knocking them out. Gemini did the same with the guards behind him.

Drexel, clearly furious at this point, ran up with his weapon in hand and tried to slice at Gemini. Gemini blocked the blow with his own weapon.

Drexel growled. "Just like old times, isn't it?"

Gemini grinned. "Nah. Before you stood for something. Now, not so much."

And from that point forth, the real battle began.

Trex and the Advent took on the remaining monster onslaught. But, it was barely a sweat for them. The Advent slashed through 15 of them while Trex took on 5.

Trex dodged several blows before slicing one monster in half. It exploded in bright light. Two more came at her. She jumped in the air, dodging their lunge. And slashed them both in the back. They eventually collapsed and exploded as well.

The Advent made slash after slash. Nearly killing a number of them instantly. They fought and fought and fought till not one monster was left standing.

Drexel and Gemini continued to clash. They eventually collided into a power struggle, weapon pushing against weapon.

"So, where is she!" Drexel yelled.

"Like I'll tell you! I don't even know!"

"How would you not know?"

Gemini smiled before breaking away. "Simple. I wasn't the one who took her. Even you can understand that."

"Nevertheless, you've lost the Integras forever!"

Gemini frowned. "No, they're on you. I know you have their souls tucked away."

Drexel smiled. "Prove it."

Gemini sighed. He twirled his weapon and threw it high in the air. "Watch me."

Just then, Gemini disappeared. Drexel's eyes widened. "Where did he...?"

Drexel was then pushed across the field. He rolled on the ground before recoiling back on his feet. He growled. Just then, Gemini was a mere inch from his face, and launched a punch at it.

Drexel blocked with his spear, but then lightning fast punches came at him. The blows were only getting stronger. And with each blow, the weapon was taking more and more damage. The spear broke in his hand, and the next blow connected with his chest, which sent him flying.

Drexel summoned a wall of spears behind him that stopped his flight. He landed on the ground and extended his hand. The spears flew and formed a cage around Gemini. The spears then turned their blades towards Gemini and rushed towards him.

Gemini jumped and caught his weapon from the air with one hand, avoiding the blades. He extended the other. "Secure!"

Energy rings formed around each blade. Gemini thrusted his hand towards Drexel, which forced the blades towards him. Drexel extended his hand, which stopped the blades mid-stride. Several of them breaking the bind and faced Gemini.

Gemini landed, his hands still extended towards Drexel. "You don't have to do this."

"But I do." Drexel's arms visibly shook as the binds broke on all the spears and faced Gemini. "You're not as powerful as I'm becoming, you know."

Gemini winced. Drexel maybe right. After all, he was getting tired, and didn't have enough energy for another Secure. So, he only had one shot at leaving this battle alive. The spears rushed towards him.

Gemini lunged his sword as hard as he could, which spiraled it past the spears. He then ducked, dodging most of the spears; but, two graced him on the arm and right shoulder. "Ah!" He yelled and then looked up.

Gemini's blade was embedded in Drexel's shoulder as he laid on the ground motionless. He pushed up on his elbows but fell back on his back.

Gemini sighed. The fight was over. He drudged his feet over to Drexel as he held his left hand over his right shoulder. Once there, there was a bag on Drexel's side. He retrieved his weapon from Drexel's shoulder as the villain gritted his teeth in pain. The sword vanished in Gemini's hand. He then picked up the bag and emptied the contents in his hand.

They were the beads. The beads he was looking for! Gemini smirked. He was close to having the Integra's back to normal. But the challenge before him was putting their souls right back into their bodies.

"Hey, is everything okay?" Trex said, running over to the fallen Drexel and happy Gemini.

"Yeah, everything is just fine now," Gemini stated.

"What to do with him?"

"Absolutely nothing," Drexel muttered out. Gemini jumped back as a spear plunged from the ground. Drexel slowly got to his feet. He emitted black aura around him. "Dolus. Dolus, I've failed."

"Dolus? You're in connection with Dolus!?" Gemini rushed towards Drexel but ran right through him. He turned around, seething through his teeth. "A mirage?"

"Over there!" Trex said. Drexel was a few yards away, limping as he slowly evaporated. He escaped just that easily.

"Who's Dolus?" Trex asked as he held Gemini back up to his feet.

Gemini knew that name. A name he hasn't heard in years. Now this whole situation made more sense to him. "I'll inform you later. Just know he's probably the reason Drexel is the way he is."

Trex gasped. "If that's the case, he must be brainwashed!"

Gemini shook his head. "If anything, that's definitely not it. Dolus doesn't have that type of power."

Trex lowered her head. "So, what now?"

"You meet back up with the doctor. I'm sure her Advent babysitting is driving her up a wall. And find a way to return the child." Gemini showed the bag to Trex. "I'll take care of our family."

Trex nodded and smiled. "Sounds like a plan."
