Chapter 36: Minor lord of the dead.

Chapter 36: Minor lord of the dead.

In a sprawling complex underground hidden in the demonic territory a man who was obscured by a cloak was working with bones and flesh, next to him were many alcemical and magical materials. In front of his infront of his work station was a gigantic incomplete creature made of bones with many runes, magical circles and magical arrays ingraved into it. It was made from bones infused with souls and individually enhanced by thousands of alchemical solutions and hundreds of magical processes, many gems were ingraved into the creature enhanced by many, many more ways than the bones.

The man working on it was known by many names, Godfrey Lestat, Ace Price, Omen Sanguine, Isaac Devonshire were but a few of them. He refered to himself as Arthur Wyrm, he was an orchalium class adventurer, he became one after many difficult mission being done through the adventurer's guild with one of his many identities. He was also a highly regarded noble which gained his title from the battlefront, and became well known for his powerful space magic. He was also a world renoun philosopher, having stolen many philosophical ideas from his old world.

But he was really a lord of the dead, he started of as a necromancer which had a high affinity with death and space magic. But he had reached the hights of the mythical, going beyond advanced classes and reaching the realm of the journeyman and close to reaching beyond all before him, into the master classes. He had gone through two class upgrades, and thousands of levels now needing millions of kills for a singular level. He was conducting his final experiment before meeting with his fellow otherworlder, which if it worked, would become his greatest creation.

He had killed so many, razed thousands of human settlements, and houndreds of thousands of monster gatherings which reached into the houndred thousands for every one of them, just for the souls needed for one undead creation. He had spent tens of thousands of times the net worth of the known richest humanoid in this world for the preperations needed to enhance one bone, Millions for a gem. Speaking of gems, they were the highest quality gems in this world, larger than a human skull individually, one being seen as the most treasured national treasure of the elves that he had stolen.

He had been in this world for two decades now, this project had consumed all the money he had produced in the previous one-and-a-half decades, he had set up honderds of companies to make money and many more to avoid taxes, even a fake charity to get tax breaks. He had many connections in the underworld, and also a well known assasin. He had his in almost every industry, in the ones he didn't, he had a complete monopoly.

He had an uncountable amount of undead defending his underground complex, you may wonder why he didn't use those to speed up the process? He didn't trust them with all the materials, and they had terrible dexterity and made failures constantly. He had many sentient undead, but they all hated him to the core for killing them and there loved ones, he had used the souls of those he had killed to make them.

He could've killed the demonic king long ago, but he didn't. All the chaos created by the demonic king masked his many atrocities, why would he throw something so benificial away? It was a great sorce of bones, he had killed many powerful monsters under the demonic king. When the demonic king ran out of suitable monsters, he had started to cultivate them himself.

Over many hours he enhanced, enchanted and engraved many magic circles and arrays the last parts of the creature were finished. Holes had been filed in, it had gained two pairs of wings, it had gained claws in the form of many bones forming talons, and a tail had been added to give it the form of the dragon he had seen within the endless sky. It was finished, Arthur made the last smile in a while.

He.. I mean I chose to stop talking in the third person, all I had to do now was the custom spell I made for this creation. I walked in front of my great bony creation, and made sure that everything was in order. After making sure of that I started chanting, moving all my types of mana, hondreds of words for a single breath possible through my immense vittality stat created by testing soul enhancement on my own flesh and blood.

After tens of thousands of words and and hours of constant mana manipulation and transformation, a feat far beyond the the great ones of myth. I had done it, I laughed in a delerious state of pure unadulterated bliss. The culmination of two decades of constant overworking with the quintuple experience gain of an otherworlder combined with the hero title, having gone beyond all others known even in legend and myth. The greatest undead that ever has and will exist, I called it Grimrid The Dark.

I then collapsed onto the ground, I had taken many mana supliments and used many skills to forcefully take the mana used to keep me alive also known as vital mana. I was on one-tenth of my health, and had many multiple hour long debuffs. He could still easily kill the demonic king as if he was killing an amiba, but his mind was quite exhausted and had accumulated a large amount of exhaust or mental strain.

I used a basic observation spell to look at Loser the dumb, well basic by my standard, it was better than the best known observation spell by the wizard community, I know this because it was an upgraded version of it. The otherworlder had started the battle against the the demonic king, the two sides were equally matched, I could take my time to heal.

At one moment the demonic king showed his final trump card, a monster that would have made great bones for my creature. I was highly angered that I hadn't found the monster and hadn't killed it before making grimrid, but I just sat back and relaxed. It was quite entertaining, Loser the dumb fought with the demonic king and his friends kept the great beast at bay.

After some time both sides retreated, setting up camp far away from the battlefield. I sighed, it was about time for me to make an entrance. I made an opening withing the fabric of space after dispeling the observation spell, I walked through it and had entered the armory. I took two swords of the many swords, one enchanted many times to work far better with the space element the other for death. I took out two sheaths and put both on my hip over eachother in the same place.

I again used an observation spell, Loser the dumb and his friends were currently in a meeting with many of the highest ranking military officials. It was a good time for me to make my entrance, I made a far more intrecate tear in space to pass through all the anti-teleportation measures they made.

I stepped through, as dramatic as possible of course. When I entered the room one of the attendies attacked without warning, It was anger issues girl "It's past your bed time, go to sleep." I then used a sleep spell, instantly she dropped onto the ground unconcious "Asshole." I then kicked the her unconcious body weakly, she then flew out of the tent and made an indent in a nearby hill.

I turned to Loser the dumb, and I waved my hand at him "It's been a while, hasn't it?"

Loser the dumb said "Who are you!"

I sighed in annoyance "You really are Loser the dumb, I now understand why someone named you that."

Loser the dumb said "How do you know about that?! That was completely taken of the books!"

He was so dense, how wasn't he picking that up? How!? "I'm impressed, you didn't get it out of that extremely obvious hint. How dense are you?" I pinched my nose bridge "Fine, if you're so dumb then I'll tell you. The name's Godfrey Lestat, am I ringing any bells?"

Loser the dumb didn't understand at all, but one of the military personel did "Godfrey Lestat, presumed dead after life monitoring spell disapeared. Code named cloaked one, and the second hero. He changed his identity after sacrificing most of his support from the crown to the first hero who needed it far more, it has also been written down that he referred to himself as a natural loner. When he left he swore apon something called 'the endless sky' to meet again in the final stretch, which is what I presume to be right now."

I nodded at him "You really deserve your position." I then made a rift to my pocket dimension, and took out a chair. I sat at the table, and put my feet on the table "Continue." The official that recognized me returned to explaining the situation, acting as if nothing happened.

I didn't care that much about the plan, and let them do their own thing. The loser left immediately with his friends to explain this to them. After the meeting ended I took out a log cabin from my pocket dimension, and I read through one of my many spell tomes I had gotten over the last two decades, I still haven't read a lot of the ancient tomes I own.

Through the night I made sure that I had the new spell memorized, this one was about summoning creatures from another layer of space known as the beyond to help in battle. I had a good amount of spells of this nature, but you have to make a contract with the creature first. While the new spell made an opening for random creatures to enter this realm for some time, just to practice I made the most basic spell in this category of space magic.

I indented a circle with a meter across in size, Then every ten centimeters into the circle I made another circle, in the middle of the of the circle I made a tiny filled in circle with a diameter of one centimeter. I then made a star of david the size of the largest circle, I used a combination of five runes many times between the circles. I then poured some magical liquid into it, blood would work to but it would be less effective.

I poured my mana into the magic circle through the points of the star of david, while chanting in a strange language "Oh great ones from the beyond, please hear my measly call. For I wish to ask thou of assistance, I am but one of the many mortals of my realm." It was the tongue of the beyond, it was the barrier of use that made this type of space magic be forgotten. I wasn't stopped by this through the natural skill of most otherworlders, but I had learned this language too if after the demonic king was defeated I lost the skill. It had gotten to the point of true fluency, I talked to creatures of the beyond if I was ever getting lonely.

The mana inside of the magic circle started to change the further to the middle it went, when it reached the middle it went into the air above it. A tear in space appeared once more, but different from the ones I had made today. This magic circle was hyper newbie friendly, it converted the mana into space element mana and made the tear in space itself. Through the tear a creature stepped, a lion one and a half the size of the normal lion.

I smiled "This is a way better result than I was expecting, now here's the contract please look through it carefully." I spoke in the tongue of the beyond, while taking out a parchment. The parchment wasn't needed, but it made this way faster.

The lion seemed confused "Why are you speaking so casually?"

This creature had a frequently appearing problem "Back in the day the casters treated you like higher beings, 'cause they thought you were a gift of the gods. And I talked like that in the beginning, because if I don't the magic circle doesn't work. In the future others may talk formaly to you but I know I don't need to, so read the contract."

The lion looked through the contract details, and said "This is acceptable." I then put my hand in response at what it said, it let me do it.

I started to dispense a unit or two of mana and said in the beyond's tongue "Do you accept the contract?"

The lion said "Yes." then the mana made a small link between us that put a mana patern in my memory, after the lion's body slowly dissolved due to no longer being supplied with my mana.

The contract was very basic, I summon the lion and create its body with my mana and it will fight for me, in exchange it gets half of the exp gained from what it kills. it'll expire in a month, and that's it. Contracts don't need to be complicated when dealing with those of the beyond, I'll give them some other name if I ever give these beyond spells to the next generation.

I read through my spell tomes, learning more spells through the night. Not that I learned one completely, my level of space magic has long since reached the level where I needed weeks per spell even with my intelligence.

When the sun was high in the sky I left the cabin and put it back into my pocket dimension, everyone was getting ready for the battle field. After a quick spell I saw that the demonic army was too.

I went into an alley way and teleported to go somewere else and look how a few experiments were going, I made a rift, and before I left through it I forced a magic item into the ground. I quickly looked at the experiments, nothing out of the ordinary happened.

I made another tear this one a bit different from the rest, it was made to connect to the magic item in the ground. I stepped through it, and took the magic item out of the ground. I made an observation spell, and looked at what Loser was doing. He was getting ostricized by his friends, if this continued he would have a mental break down. I could tell, I had a few myself in the last two decades.

When his friends were gone I made a rift and appeared before him, he didn't see me because he was in the form of a ball, crying "Are you ok? You seem to be on tough times."

Loser the dumb said while snot poured out of his nose "I-I'm-'m n-n-ot ok"

This was worse than I thought, if I didn't fix this I might not be able to push all the fame on to him "Calm down, everythings going to be alright. You only need to do this for one more day, today is the day your journey will end. The demonic king will die today, without you sacrificing your own. I swear this apon the endless sky."

"R-real-ly?" Loser the dumb was still crying.

I made the most uplifting tone I could "Yes." I gave him a little bump "Now up and at 'em, just one more day of torture. Then you don't have to deal with them anymore, you'll be able to abandon them. Work with reasonable people, or go of alone. Just remember, one day." Loser the dumb nodded weakly. I waved him goodbye, and went back into the camp with a rift.

I waited for the battle field to become heated, it took far longer than expected. It took one hour of waiting for the battle to really start, then 5 minutes to reach the peak of the battle.

I made a rift to the battle field, again stepping through it as dramatically as possible. I put forth my hand and made the mana pattern I got from the contract last night, the same kind of rift as last time was made and a transparent lion came out of it. I poured 1% of my mana into it and I grew into a giant, five times the size of a normal lion. He then created chaos in the enemy lines, killing as many as possible for dat sweet exp.

I then tried the newest spell, I chanted for 3 minutes 50 words a minute, and a bigger rift opened. This spell needed to have conditions set, I gave those that went through the portal the same ones as the lion except they had 25% cut of the exp. I used and air spell to solidify the air how I wished, then made steps into the sky. They were entirely invisible, the only conformation that told me that it existed was that I felt my mana keeping it in place.

I calmly climbed the steps, making the one I stepped off disapear. I looked across the battlefield, the demonic army being overwhelmed. I looked at the demonic king's battle, after some relaxed watching it tried to escape through a rift. I couldn't let that happen, so I forcefully disrupted the rift's mana and it collapsed instantly. The demonic king was shocked by this, but what did you expect with it having no mana stabilization?

Over time the demonic king became desperate, and he did something drastic. He used a skill, and he started to grow and deform. gaining more appendages, many more. Eyes popped up everywhere on his disgusting body, it looked as if he had fallen into radioactive waste and didn't die. His army was changing too, not as drasticly though. They still had their original form, and all changes were beneficial.

The demonic army was pushing the army of man back, soldiers were abandoning the battlefield. My side was close to defeat, that was unacceptable. I activated the [Legion commander] skill, and yelled "Everyone! charge! The enemy is on it's last leg! It's a cornered beast on it's last legs! Don't let them fool you with a facade of strength!" It was a bad speech but was hyper effective, the skill being a very common and cheap skill's evolution that helped in leading my undead legion, it also helps with human armies.

The moral hightened, but we were still losing. I took out dozens of rings, putting all of them on my fingers, multiple on every finger. I pointed my finger to the side, and swiped it across a path with a certain monster. After a second that beast was split through the path made by my finger, and a second after many other monsters around died in the were cut in many directions. And another second later, tens of thousands died in the same way. This was one of my favorite spells; 'Rend slash'. It was a very cheap spell, I bought it from the wizard tower in my younger years. It's the reason I started to learn space magic at a serious level instead of a 'do it when there's nothing else' level, it had brought me very far in the [Space magic] Skill path.

I had upraded the spell as much as I could, making one of the most damaging space magic spells and factually the best combat non-base element spell. And to think in the begining it didn't do any damage to anything with more than 30 endurance, it really has a gotten so far. Shoting multiple invisible blades instead of very visible cosmos looking blade, being sharper and more damaging for the same mana cost. Not falling into the trap of 'top tier' spells, which is 'Bigger = better' and their creators focusing on how to not have the gigantic amount of mana not explode.

Also being strengthened through many, many rings, like a 100-ish rings. Multiplying the spell, making it stronger, giving it more speed, stabilizing the spell more and strengthening it in many more ways. I did it a few times, then I kept yelling orders to the army. But this one wasn't enough, the army was still being pushed back. But what should I expect? I killed like 5 thousands, in an army of billions. The most effective thing was me ordering the army, I could just kill the demonic king but that's Loser's job. But the army of man would be defeated if I kept doing this, I had no choice.

I yelled an order once more "All troops disengage!" Over the last hour most of the troops had gotten used to following my orders, and trusted my commands. But just to make sure they listened I didn't say fall back or retreat, some of the soldiers were a bit to hot blooded to listen though, but caring for their lives was the job of their friends.

I sighed, I never wanted to go to this level of exertion. I rose my hand, I turned my hand into a fist and all the corpses in the battlefield were surrounded by a dark green energy and rose up. Their flesh started to rot, they shambled into the enemy army, monsters and humans alike had become zombies. I swayed my hand arcross the battlefield, and certain undead gained more dark green energy. Some gained more flesh, some lost it, some didn't change at all. But every single one of them became stronger, some had the undead close to them become stronger, others grew in size, and some had gained more muscles.

Then I made rifts all across the battlefield, and lesser liches came out. I could use elder liches, but that's too much work for this. I made one more rift far larger all others before it, and Grimrid, The Dark came out. This one I controled personally, not like all the others that had a base artificial mind that lets them do what I tell them without puppeteering them. But Grimrid was far too valuable to take a chance, and I want to see a dragon do cool shit.

Whenever Grimrid killed something the dark green energy came out of the corpse, it then went out of it and entered Grimrid. It happened automaticly, like Grimrid was designed to do. It was good Grimrid wasn't a failure, that really was a thing I didn't want to consider. I kept controlling Grimrid for the entire encounter, puppeteering it pretty well.

After revealed my necrotic powers the situation changed completely, the demonic army was getting pushed back. Every corpse would be become a zombie with the generous donation of death mana from the lesser liches, with that slowly the amount of undead grew more than they died, snowballing into the decimation of the demonic army. All that needed to happen was Loser killing the demonic king. But that wasn't happening, he and his 'friends' were being overwhelmed.

When he almost died I snapped, why couldn't he just do his one and only job?! I got to this level in two decades but he's still one class upgrage below me, only recently upgrading his class beyond advanced. How is he so weak!? I've needed to send people to help his psychological health hundreds of times by now, I could understand that his friends restricted him and all. But he has a five times boost for all exp gain! And you can double that if you have an affinity to it! I've had enough!

I made a rift infront of the demonic king, stepped through it. I stood infront of the abomination, no longer suppresing my aura and adding on all my intimidation and aura skills. The demonic king ran away from me without any pause, its instincts having fully taken over. I made one step infront of me and I appeared right behind the abomination, having folded the space between us. I used a spell imideately that's called chains of darkness, another trash tier spell I upgraded over the years.

I raised my open hand and aimed it at the chained abomination, using another spell a cube formed around the demonic king. I made my arm turn a one-eighty (180 degrees) and clenched it, the cube then shrunk, and shrunk. The abomination was crushed, its corpse compressed, in a nut shell; it died in agony and it's corpse was compressed to an unbelieveable level by my diy-spell. I walked over the the demonic king flesh cube, it had a lot of energy to consume, so I put it in my pocket dimension.

I looked at the hero party "Get the fuck to work! Do you think you can take a break with the demonic king dead!? No! Now get the fuck to work! At least do this after you failed your only job!" I used every spell and skill to increase my charisma and ability to convince, including [Legion commander]. I then looked away for those losers, a few monsters were running at me, I easily killed them with rend slash. I made a rift and stepped through it, in the air I made a platform.

I looked at the battlefield, I looked for that trumpcard monster of the demonic king. It would make a pretty good type of undead, when I saw it I chained it with darkness once more. I made a mana hand around it's heart and crushed it, mana hand of course is one of the most common spells in the world being extremely cheap to buy a manual for and often added on to another spell for free, again I upgraded it to the point of killing others easily. I made a rift beneath it that lead to my complex, after making some good undead personally and waiting for the battle to end, I left to my complex and brought all the undead to the undead storage space.

I forgot about it all, and never reacted to the crown's call for me. Over the decades I grew my power even more, all my blood, sweat, and tears contributing to a single goal. And today was that day, I called for the girl "Amel!"

I heard from one of my rooms a "Coming!" A teenager came out of the room, she was a girl I adopted. She's legally dead, I faked her death so no one would question her dissapearance. I had taught her my dumbed down legacy of space magic, I would never teach anyone my real legacy, to truly be at the top you need to work for it, not get it from your ancestors.

I was done baby-sitting her, I was done with this world, inculding her "Kid, it's about time you get some real world experience." I threw a coin lightly enough that it would arc that a 10 strength person would get, the coin had a skull on one side and three stars on the others, getting smaller the further away from the middle star (Included in the three stars) "Take it to that decrepit first hero, and remember to be reasonable."

Amel whined "I don't want to meet that alchoholic."

I sighed "Although he's an alcoholic he's got connections, and he owes me. He'll get you into the adventurer's guild without you needing to get bothered by the corruption." I let him have the credit for the demonic king's death, he owes me a lot.

"Fine." Amel said, in a rambunctious tone. Normally I would've kicked her, but her loyalty wasn't needed anymore "I have all my stuff with me, so let's go!"

I laughed "I think you're misunderstanding something, this is real world experience." I pointed at her with my hand full visable "This is an adventure, not a little road trip where I baby-sit you." This shocked Amel, but not me "Now shoo, go away." I made a rift behind her and pushed her through it, it led into Loser's house.

Now that she was out of my hair my newest creation could finally be used, I made sure all my undead were in my pocket demension. It had upgraded a lot, it had become its own minture world. I saw a great undead legion with Grimrid leading it, it had gained a true soul from the coalescence of death mana, gaining access to the framework. I was still proud of myself that I could make such a great undead when I was still but a journeyman, I did brute-force it with high quality materials, but still.

There was none of my undead outside of my pocket dimension, just to take out everything I own into my second pocket dimension. It didn't take that long, like ten seconds. There was a lot, but I just opened rifts all across the continent to take it. I left the complex and exploded all the magical bombs I put in every place that I lived at or had knowledge of my legacy, I then teleported to a circulair mountain range.

If you looked at it from above you would see a pattern, as if the mountain range was the outer circle of a magic circle, the rivers giving more form, the rocks and trees making the glyfs and runes. Because it was, my second biggest project in proportion to my power level, the biggest was Grimrid of course.

Luckily for all beings with blood the purpose of this magic circle could be proformed without needing any kind of magically attuned liquid, all I needed to do was activate it. It was situated in an extremely mana rich area I found in my younger years, I had terraformed it for this one purpose. I activated it, and braced myself for my first step out of this world. I had readied myself over the last few decades, but ya know, this is a big deal.

In the sky a tear in space unbelieveably large appeared, I used as many resistance spells and skills I could, using many spells more than a thousand times. I drunk a lot of mana potions, and potions that increased elemental resistance and increased my stats. You can never be too safe when dealing with the unknown, especially when its another planet with magic involved.

The winds started to rage and blew off the hood of my cloak off my head, I was in my sixties, my face adorned with a crazed smile. but then I stopped, I almost forgot to set up a lich to make chaos, it was a little gift from me to Amel. A diamond can only truly be polished in choas and dispair, I really was a good mentor aren't I? No, no I wasn't. But she still needed to prove herself worthy of my legacy, even if dumbed down. It took five seconds, it was plopped down in the demonic territory manipulated to think I couldn't control it even if I wanted to and gave it free rains to do what it wanted, but encouraged it to make an undead legion like its creator.

I took a step into the rift, I was brought into a space inbetween or something. After a few seconds I left it and and saw a new world while falling from the sky, a world I had picked out from the planets in the solar system for being able to be inhabited by human life. And whoop-die-do there's a castle right below me, hopefully they're more tolarable than the second world's inhabitants.

I then opened my eyes and I was again in the god room 'I am so dead.' I thought fearing a certain angel girl.
