As kiling the lizards was a thing I was doing for exp, I was wondering what this ranking system was. So like anyone would, I asked someone else "Hey, what was that ranking system from back there?"
Hemdal said "Oh, you didn't know? Basicly the stuff you loot from beasts get totaled up based on a the value of the loot."
"Oh really, what are the rewards?" I said.
Hemdal said "I don't know, changes constantly."
I saw a lizard, I ran at it. It jumped at me, while it was in the air I sliced it in half with arcane infused attack. I started harvesting the best scale, which I'm calling the 'heart scale' but it probably already has a name. then I said "Are the rewards good?"
Hemdal said to that "They usually are, once someone got an iron spatial ring for being in 1st place."
I halted for a bit, dolar signs in my eyes. I calmed down and said "That's good, I wasn't planning on showing my supiriority. But it won't hurt." I then continued getting the heart scale, I was almost done. after a couple seconds it was done, I put it in the ring. It had a around 70~ heart scales, I had hunted a lot of lizards over the last couple hours. I had one close moment when I almost fell into a lava pool, but Erebus stoped that from happening though.
I got a level for "Arcane swordmanship", it wasn't that special. It made turning mana into arcana a bit faster and let me do arcana things faster. I got a level for "Arcane skinning", it just improved my dexterity with a skinning knife. I had gotten less exp then I would like, maybe that's because I only took the heart scales.
The further I have went, the larger the passages got. the lizards have also been appearing more often, not close together like dintyles, they naturally come together for some reason. I asked Hemdal while searching for more prey "How much time do we have?"
Hemdal took out something from his ring and looked at it "Around six hours."
I nodded and said "We'll go back after we look around the 2nd floor." Hemdal nodded at that. I stretched "Let's a go, don't got all day." And started running
I opened the settings and turned on auto loot. I turned a corner, gecko in sight, blade in hand. You know what happens, swing sword, dead gecko, storing scale in ring, and run. I still had my need to get exp and fill our two rings.
After 15 minutes I looked at how Hemdal was doing, he was panting moderately "You're exuasted from just that, you really need to do some cardio." I said.
Hemdal said while panting and running to keep up with me "How are you able to not be tired from this, and what even is cardio?!"
I was wondering myself how I was able to not be tired for running fastly for a child for 15 minutes, the only physical stat that's way higher then others my age is strength so it must that, I'll make a theory for it later while waiting for my mana to refill "I'm just built different, and I'm not going into the definitions of words right now."
I looked inside my ring, it was almost full. It showed how long it takes to harvest the scales, but the quality is far higher when done manually. I was planing to fill both of our rings with scales, the scales were smaller and stronger then the hides so I should get more of those "Points" from this.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
It seemed that we would almost go into the 2nd floor. after I kept on running for an extra 10 minutes, after a break so that Hemdal could keep up, I saw the path down to the second floor. I had filled out the ring, and have gotten a good amount of exp for my swordmanship. It was even close to leveling up again, this was way better for leveling.
The path down was strangely human friendly for a cave full of monsters and fire, it had stairs to the side. The reason it was weird is that nothing else is even slightly humanoid friendly, like a beast made it based on instinct. Well it actually was, dungeons are beings with some kinds of thought or is at least half-sentient else I wouldn't have been able to choose core as my body at the beginning.
The trip down didn't take long, the stairs weren't very stable and I almost lost my footing once. There weren't guard rails or the like, exept the wall. At least our beasts could come down with us.
When we came down to the 2nd level the creatures were the same, when I found the next lizard that shall fall by my blade. It spew a ball of flame, more of an ember that would set something flamable on fire, and may give second-degree burns. It went the same speed as a weakly thrown baseball, luckily that isn't that fast and I was able to step out of the way. I threw a knife at it for safety, I'm not killing something like that in melee range.
I completely forgot that every five levels a beast can choose a new skill, this is the difference between the 1st and 2nd floor. and the level increase will speed up more, new species completely unrelated to others in the dungeon will apear.
I sighed in annoyance "I'm done for now, do you still want to hunt?"
Hemdal said "nahh, I'm good."
I nodded, then turned around to face him "That's good and all, I'm not going to make you hunt for now. But do you always speak this crass?"
Hemdal laughed "Of course not! My mother would have reprimanded me long ago if that was the case."
I stared him in the eye fiercely "Make sure to keep it that way." I started walking back to the 1st floor, it took me a couple of hours to get to the second floor and I have to get back to the main group in 6 hours. I hastily went up the primival stairs, it went far faster then when going down. When I got up I ran to the place of the main group as fast as possible, letting Erebus go wild while close to me to get the beasts in my way, letting me go far faster than when I first passed by.
It took a bit to get an adaquite distance from the main group, while taking some breaks in between, taking 3 hours. I chose to wait for Hemdal there, wanting to test magic stuff.
I had two things I didn't know how to use yet, and a goal that I didn't feel like doing, which was doing the dubble node light construct experimentation. I chose the former, it was so much easier to do. I made a basic light maker construct, but made the mana go through a color changer node first before going into the light maker; I chose to make the color black, and the color of the mana that I saw after the color changer was black instead of the natural light blue. Due to that the color of the light was black, it look more like a pocket of darkness then light though. I then started tinkering with the construct, more specifically the color changer. First gray, then red, and then I tried to make a rainbow but I couldn't make more then one color with the color changer. When I tried to move two color of mana through one strings, the two colors mixed into one color instead of two colors not mixing. Cosmetic ad-ons to magic are so annoying, and they won't change the damage or the like too!
This experimenting and brain-storming took like an hour, it took some time to come up with the idea of two colors as one. I was begining to see color change as useless exept for the colors black and white, but then I realized that the color of mana showed in the mana construct that I see. A lightbulb went on in my mind, I could use the colors for organizing the construct's mana strings. Happy I found a use for this seemingly useless thing I was happy with what I did and did something else.
Which was movement, I finally got something usefull from this. If I got a node that caused damage I could get my first magic spell, my power shall grow once more. I wonder when I can get an element, and if I can get elemental arcana. But that was probably far into the future, and not my current concern.
For my newest creation, I made the light construct but instead of the light node a movement node was made. It was directed forward where I was loking, when I fueled it with my mana it moved in the direction I set the movement node to go. at least it went the direction I wanted it to go, no weird 'it's 4 dergrees of' which I would hate. Then I made a new construct with another movement node going the directly opposite of the first. Funnn~ thing though, I had no way to stop mana from flowing a certain way, only if it went into the construct. And another funnnn thing! Force can cancel eachother out if they have the same amount of energy behind them, and make a guess what happened! Nothing! Fucking nothing except stealing my mana!
I was angry at this shit, but saw that 'Mana weaver' leveled up. I felt knowledge entering like normal, what the skill gave this time was; Not the thing I wanted which was a way to control the path that mana went. But gave some knowledge on how to use mana strings better, it would help with the efficient light construct creation.
I then started brain-storming on what to do, I chose to see if one slanted node is better or worse that two, one that goes forward and one that goes up.
Also Hemdal appeared, while panting heavily. He was talking to him self "this weak body, I really need to exersise." and sat on a rock far away from any lava, I think he comunicated with his beast while waiting. And then Erebus said [When are you going to ask what weapons are?] I had completely forgoten to tell 'em, but I'm not telling Erebus that.
I told Erebus {I can tell you right now} I stretched {A weapon, tool or armor is a thing the sentient races make to aid in a specific reason. It can be made with a bunch of things, like rocks, special types of rock that were smelted and then beaten into the right shape, wood, anything that can help with something is a tool, armor, or weapon. Like reducing the damage of an attack is armor, or making your attacks stronger is a weapon, and anything else that helps with something is a tool. that's a tool/armor/weapon, in laymans terms of course.}
Erebus made an expression that I took understood as being enlightened, but that didn't matter.
I experimented what I previously wanted to do before I was interupted, I made a construct that had two movement nodes, one going up and one going forward. Then made another one at the side of the first, but it only had one node that had a 45 degrees of from perfectly forward upward. They had the same effect, but the second one was more effective.
