The Fourth Night: Fantastical Dreams

Mom was surprised when asked, "Mom, why is Momotaro alone?" (Well, because the protagonist is supposed to be alone.) she thought. But she answered, "Maybe because the old woman was alone, she could only have one?"

"When the old man stopped going to mow the grass and went to do laundry with the old woman, Momotaro would be two!" I chuckled.

"That's right, let's make Momotaro two starting tomorrow," Mother replied.

The next morning, "Dad, wake up! I had an amazing dream!"

Usually a late riser, Dad immediately jumped up at the mention of the word "dream." "Is Dream sick!?"

Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

Mother recounted the events of the previous night. Dad's face lit up, "That's amazing!" he exclaimed.

From that day on, occasionally zoning out at kindergarten, I was often asked by the teacher or my friends, "What's wrong, Yume-chan?"

Tonight's dinner was "omurice." Another favorite of mine. Or rather, all the meals Mom makes are delicious.

The fluffy egg of omurice looks like "a princess's dress!" so Dad praised it as amazing, even though he doubted it at first, and again filmed me and the omurice with his video camera.

Tonight's bedtime story was "The Little Mermaid." Wait, wasn't Mom supposed to tell the story of Momotaro with two people starting today?

It's a romantic story, but as someone who has never experienced love, it didn't resonate with me as I drifted off to sleep.
