Chapter 049 - Excalibur

*Experience reached the desired quantity “Young Wild Wolf” leveled up to Lv11*

A message woke me up in the middle of the night, “Umm what?” I looked at it and slowly read it.

“Hmm, it looks like the wolf digested the food and got some experience from it. That is nice… I want to get stronger from being fat too.” I murmured as I slowly closed my perception once more, only waking up a few hours later.

*Yaaaaawn!* I released a big yawn with the wolf's mouth and stretched my legs before opening his status.

“This bastard is getting healthier and healthier, he is already in better condition than me! Why is my health regeneration so slow anyway? The wolf will have four daily health points regenerated when he heals but I won't even get one a day, I knew that I was cheated with this shitty body!” I cursed at the unfairness of this world once more.

I entered the world of darkness to check if the wolf woke up but of course, he still was sleeping like a baby. I poked at him and told him about what happened yesterday, it became some sort of habit of mine.

Was it because I was getting lonely again or just because I needed to talk to someone about my frustrations? I didn't know but it still helped me to keep my sanity in check so I didn't care.

As I exited the world of darkness I looked around the hideout and saw the broken furnace once more and my heart ached a little bit.

“*Sigh* I know that it was a shitty furnace that had many holes and cracks in it, but I still worked really hard on it.” I could only sigh with regret as I shouldn't have left the hideout that day, but it was alright as I had a plan.

“First I will create a door to the hideout and some traps, and then I will go look for some clay near the river I saw not so long ago. Surely there will be some there, then I will build a bigger and better furnace!” I made a heroic gesture as I held my hand to the heart I didn’t have and gave the broken furnace a proper goodbye.

“Sleep well, my warrior. I know that you didn't live long but I won't forget you.” I lied as I forgot about this furnace a few days later.

As I finished my stupid act and continued with my day, I left the hideout but didn't go far as I remembered what happened last time. I brought more mushrooms and sticks, but what I was really looking for is a good and sturdy branch for an axe.

After walking for a while at last I found it, it was stuck into a rock like Excalibur waiting for the king of the forest to pull it out, a huge heavy tree had most likely fallen at the rock and left this black branch here but it still was a little bit bizarre as I saw no dead tree around.

I tried to pull it from the rock but failed I looked around to make sure that nobody was watching, and touched the stone with the wolf paw, and used the *Dig* skill. The stone broke and I pulled the Excalibur and became the king of the forest.

“Bow before your king!” I shouted with the *Soul Link* skill as I held the branch in my hand, but of course, only silence met me or at least that's what I thought until I heard some squeaking noises from my left.

I looked at a fat laughing squirrel that was holding its belly and looking at me, “Is it laughing at me? Wait, isn't it that weird squirrel that ran away from me last time.” I inspected it just in case.

“So weak… Hmm, Swarm Squirrel, what a weird name.” I murmured before choosing to ignore the squirrel and continued walking back to the hideout as I knew that I wouldn't be able to catch this little bastard even if I tried.

It continued following me until I came back to the hideout but I didn’t really care. I wouldn't be able to catch it outside but if this thing dared to enter the tunnels its chances for escape would be null.

As I returned back to the hideout I took out the big jagged Gravis stone that I collected a few days ago and placed it on my workbench. I brought out some long grass weeds and started to weave them into a rope. As I finished I pulled out the branch I found and noticed that it was a lot heavier than other branches so I inspected it just in case.

My smile immediately vanished as I only read the name of the branch. I immediately gently placed the dynamite on the workbench and moved a good distance away before continuing to read its description.

*Dynamite Tree Seed* - A seed from the Dynamite Tree, which got its name from its tendency to explode when it matures enough to produce seeds. Sending thousands of these needles into all directions, these seeds can fly over a huge distance around a kilometer away imbedding themself into the ground and rocks alike.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

There are rumors that these trees' chances to explode are higher when a swarm of flying monsters flies above them, giving the seeds more nutrients as they hit the ground while being embedded in the monster's corpse.

“What kind of brutal tree is that!” I looked at the black branch that was on the workbench understanding exactly how it got into that stone.

“Holy crap I think it's an overkill to create an axe handle from this.” I murmured as I took the branch into my hand.

“In the inspection, there was nothing about it exploding as a seed only in tree form, so it should be safe… Right?” I asked myself with a little bit of doubt.

Before throwing a stone at it from a good distance away just to calm my spirits, thankfully nothing happened and I got lucky as I acquired an amazing stick.

“Is this how I will create a legendary axe?” I asked myself as I started to pull out some of the item crafting together.

First I took the big chunk of the sharp Gravis rock and started to mend it into the shape of an axe head. I found out recently that the *Dig* skill can work on Gravis rocks too, I discovered it when making the simple knife so making it into the shape of a crude axe wasn't so hard.

I still was careful and used only a tiny root while carving out the axe as I had only one big chunk of Gravis rock. Like a sculptor I slowly chipped at the rock precisely removing the parts I didn’t need, I even created a hole for the axe handle everything was going perfectly and the axe head was finished.

“Well I am not surprised by the rank as it was made from stone, now let's move to the axe handle.” I said as I started to try to make the branch more smooth, oh boy it didn’t go so well.

*Crack!*

“Why are the Gravis stones continuing to break when it is supposed to be the other way around, wood shouldn’t be stronger than stone!” I shouted as I continued to grind out Gravis stones instead of the other way around.

Only after breaking more than twenty Gravis stones on the branch did it look kind of smoother, still far away from what I wanted though.

“*Sigh* Forget it this will do.” I took the black branch and started to tie some rope around it as I wanted to create a filler for the axe head, that way it would hold to it more strongly. I shoved the branch into the axe head I created and hit it with a stone slowly embedding it inside it.

As I finished with that I took more rope and tied the head to the handle from the outside too, after that I tied more rope around the handle for a better grip, and just like that I finished my amazing axe.

“It is finished!” I shouted before raising the axe into the air and giving it a name.

“I am going to call you Excalibur axe!” I shouted once more and felt the axe suddenly tremble a little bit in my hands as I felt something leave my body into the axe. “That was weird…” I said as I inspected it.

Creator: Nameless Bush

“This is interesting is this because of the *Item Crafting* skill?” I asked with interest as the name I gave appeared as I inspected the axe.

“And what's with the creator? Does it mean that now if someone will look at this item describing they will be really confused when they see that it was made by a bush?” I asked with interest.

“Nameless bush hmm, indeed I still can’t remember my name, interesting when will I remember something about myself at all?” I was a little bit dejected as nothing changed much from the day I appeared in this world. Indeed I got a little bit and learned some new things but I still didn’t know who I was and how I got here.

The only clue I had is a few weird dreams that I had but they were scattered and without much content, “Hmm that reminds me I didn’t dream much lately, meh doesn’t matter I think stuff like this shouldn’t be rushed or it will bring a disaster.” I murmured as I stopped thinking about this difficult topic and took my new sturdy axe for a spin around the forest, while still not going too far away from the hideout entrance.

***

I looked around for a prey and found it not so far away it was sitting there doing nothing completely unexpected about the dangers that were coming its way. I sneaked behind it and with the full force of my axe, I hit the tree.

*Tak!* *tak!* *tak!*

I found out that it's a lot harder to do than I thought, “Damn it this is the smallest tree around here and it barely leaves any cuts on it!” I shouted with frustration as I found out that I was still just too weak.

“Now that I think of this I can move the wolf with the wooden exoskeleton can’t I just grow more wood around me?” I asked as I started to use the *Grow* skill to make my arms thicker, it looked kinda weird to say the through as if the wolf grew human hands from its back, but it was effective as every hit I gave out left a deeper cut.

“How didn’t I think about this earlier!” I shouted as I continued to cut the tree with delight, I still sent a few detection skills around the area just to be sure that no more Kobolds would come to my hideout.

After finishing cutting five small trees, I started to drag them across the ground to the hideout entrance but as I came to it I found something weird on one of its walls.

It was a drawing of a big dog-like skull with sharp teeth and paw prints around it, “Is this paint?” I looked confused by the looks of it, I missed it when I was running with delight with my axe in hand into the forest.

“No, it's blood…” I immediately understood that it was the work of Kobolts, they left their own bloody pawns on my wall.

“Did they find out that I killed one of their companions and this is a declaration of war?” I asked myself, not sure what to think about this. But in the end, I just chose to ignore it as I already was on high alert and preparing to create traps and a gate at the entrance of the hideout.

“Well come if you want but trust me it will be your biggest mistake.” I murmured before going back to the forest to bring more wood.

After bringing all the five small trees I understood that they were not enough, and continued to venture to bring more, on the way I placed more bait in the traps as the food was missing again, but this time not even one trap got triggered, I found it weird but I could just add more food and hope for one unlucky prey.

I collected twelve small trees before it started to get dark. I brought them all inside one of the tunnels and chose to continue working on the gate tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, I ate some more meat and cooked some mushrooms, before continuing to work on expanding the cold room as I dug through the rocks with the wolf's pawns and cleaned the ceiling with my roots. I stopped only as I finished digging out the room after a few hours of work.

I was finishing pushing the stones and rocks outside the room when I noticed a stone in the corner of the room. I don't know what came over me but I reached out with my hand and tried to move the stone towards me.

“Use the force…” I muttered as I was just screwing around but who guessed that the stone suddenly rolled towards me.

“It wasn’t by much but it definitely moved!” I shouted thinking that I unlocked a potential for unlimited power, so I focused again with the full force of my mind and it moved once more.

*Skill learned “Earth Element Control” by Young Wild Wolf*

“Eh?” I asked myself as a message popped out in front of me, I immediately looked at the wolf and saw his eyes glowing with a strange brown color.

“Uhh, I guess I am not the chosen one this time…” I murmured as I was a little bit bumped.

“Now that I remember it in the dream the father of the wolf could open up the entrance to the hideout only with his mind.” I remember the dark brown-colored wolf that stood tall as the entrance to the hideout opened in front of him as if it was magic.

“Wait, does it mean that now I don’t need to create a gate?” I asked as I was a little bit disappointed as my work was for nothing but then I tried to move the rocks that were outside with the skill.

Some of the stones rolled on the ground away from me but the bigger stones didn’t even budge and another thing was this skill ate all of the wolf's mana and even started to tap into my reserves.

“Oh so this is like this, it uses a lot more mana than *Wood Element Control* skill but on the other hand it can move them stronger and faster.” As I remembered that I couldn't even move a small branch from a distance when my *Wood Element Control* skill was at level one with *Earth Element Control* many small stones could be moved already. I could only imagine what would happen around level five or ten.

“Making the earth swallow your enemies, that would be so cool!” I said to myself as I imagined that scene before continuing to play with the new skill until most of my mana was completely wasted.

“Alright this is enough I better go to sleep, or I won’t be able to do anything tomorrow.” I walked back to my sleeping area near the tree, where I burrowed into the ground and said goodnight to the wolf, before falling into the world of dreams.
