The three wolves and the Alpha were closing up on the soldier, but it didn’t look as if the soldier was bothered by it at all, he just placed his hand on his sword and pulled it out with great speed.
I could swear that I saw a strong gust of wind fly from the sword as it was pulled out, the sword looked plain and normal but it gave out a weird feeling as if it were able to cut your eyes only because you gave it one glance.
When the sword was drawn out the wolves were terrified as if the sword weren’t a normal sword but the scythe of death itself. I couldn’t blame them, I was so far away from the soldier and yet I still could feel a devastating pressure coming out from him. The soldier didn’t release that pressure before, it came out just as his hand touched the sword.
*Growl!*
The Alpha released a strong growl immediately after it the three Iron Wolves jumped at the soldier, the soldier took a step forward with his right leg, lowered his body, and twisted his upper body to the left while entering a slashing pose.
*SLASH!*
The slash was so fast I couldn’t even see it. The only thing I could see was blood, organs, and six parts of wolves' carcasses falling to the ground.
“What the fuck…” I mumbled as I looked with an ashen imaginary face at the scene before me, forget the devil cat even ten of them wouldn’t be able to kill this soldier and I wanted to try and steal his body? If my roots even touched him I would have most likely been cut into thousands of pieces already.
After the three wolves were killed in one slash I could even see some hesitation in the eyes of the Alpha, but in the end, he was only a monster working mostly on instincts and even if he were smarter and tried to escape the soldier wouldn’t have let it go.
*Growl!!!*
As the Alpha saw his comrades falling to the ground he released even a stronger growl, and with it a strong pressure was released from its body. The muscles in his body started to twitch in every direction, his body started to grow bigger in size, and even his claws became larger and sharper.
“Looks like the wolf going all out, but still I don’t think it has much chance against this soldier.” I said as I looked at the wolf with fear, if I had encountered this wolf I wouldn’t be able to do anything to it at all, but this soldier… No, this knight surely wouldn’t even break a sweat.
The alpha wolf flew at the knight with huge speed, while releasing a menacing growl, the wolf was huge so it looked more like a bull was charging at the knight than a wolf, but nothing changed from the knight's perspective all that he did is raise his sword into the air and released hundreds of swings.
The hundreds of swings were all released in a few breaths, I couldn’t follow them at all. The wolf hadn’t even had a chance, maybe he even didn’t know how he died. It reminded me of the phrase death by thousands of cuts, though the number was a little wrong and every cut of the sword removed a small chunk of meat from the wolf.
A disfigured carcass fell in front of the knight, blood was everywhere but the knight and his sword were clean as if all that happened was just an illusion. All the remaining wolves immediately started to flee as fast as they could from the area, all that was left were the dead bodies of their comrades.
This battle took less than a few minutes of time, I still couldn’t believe how powerful the knight that was standing in front of me was.
“I wanted to take control over the body of this monster?” I felt like I dodged a bullet, I still didn't know much about the *Overtake* skill but I was still pretty sure that it would have failed and my body would have been added to his kill count.
After thinking for a while I came to a scary realization, “If the Alpha wolf were able to sense me I am sure that this monster of a knight would be able to sense me as well so I better do nothing at all…” I mumbled to myself while pressure was slowly building up as I was getting agitated that he noticed me.
Suddenly the Knight looked in my direction, I almost pissed myself when that happened but to my greater luck, the knight returned his sword to his belt, stretched his hands again, and said something in an unknown language.
“Well, that was a great exercise, back to sleep.” And just like nothing happened he went back to the tree and took a nap in the same position as before.
“Whatever I do I must not inspect him or even look at him or I am dead!...” I could feel as if cold sweat started to appear on me as I even moved my view from the knight, scared that even that would reveal my position.
“This knight is really weird...” I said as I was standing there waiting, “Well it doesn't matter, I will wait for a little while until he will fall asleep and then run away as quietly as possible.” A few minutes passed and just when I wanted to make my move I heard some rustling from the bushes again.
“Don’t tell me that the stupid wolf pack is back...” But it wasn't the wolves, a woman exited from the bushes. She had long red hair, a beautiful face but cunning eyes that for some reason reminded me of the eyes of a fox and she was wearing a cape with a hood from black leather, as well black leather boots, pants, and gloves.
“You sure made a huge mess again.” She said something to the knight while looking around at the corpses.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
“A mess? Woman what you see here is an aftermath of a great battle.” The knight answered while not moving even an inch or even opening his eyes.
“Great battle? Pfff, you just played with them and didn’t even use one skill while fighting.” She looked at the carcass of the Alpha wolf in pity.
“Well, I had to give them a chance.” The knight said as he removed his helmet.
A hunk is the best way to describe him in one word, his hair was blond in color and he had a short military cut haircut, he had a short beard as if he didn’t cut it in a week or so. As I saw his face something in me sparked and it was hatred, don’t know why but for some reason seeing someone that looks like that made me hate him for no apparent reason.
“Well that's nice and all but I located the elf village we should start moving there immediately.” The woman said with her sweet voice.
“Now that I notice it she has a mesmerizing voice...” I mumbled to myself as I looked at her again.
“Couldn’t you just make the report if you were already there?” The knight asked.
“You know how it works, we will need to stay there for a few days just to be sure, so enough with the nonsense, and let's go... But before that didn’t you miss something?” She looked in my direction but of course, I missed it as I was still thinking about something really important.
“Oh her voice is so nice it's hard to describe it in words… Beautiful? Charming? Mesmerizing?” I was still in my head trying to get the right word to describe her voice.
“Oh you noticed Red, don’t worry I didn’t miss it, I am just really curious about it.” For some reason, his voice started to annoy me even more.
“First of all, it's Scarlet for you Glad, second of all who do you think I am a beginner adventurer? That I wouldn’t notice a bloody bush that is so conveniently placed behind a tree where you are sleeping that wasn’t located there before?” She puffed angrily and looked at him annoyed.
“Oh please, I want to continue to hear her speak all day long...” I said to myself as I heard that beautiful melody.
“Well yeah, to tell the truth, it wanted to attack me but it had a change of heart, so I wanted to spare it.” I hoped for the knight to shut up.
“Kill it!” I felt a weird pinch but just shrugged it off while continuing to listen to the angel's voice.
“But, it can be a sapling of the forest follower.”
“Sapling of the followers rarely leave the center of the forest, and this one is too small, it’s just an aggressive monster like others that will try to attack you when you lower your guard. Just kill it...”
“If only I could record her voice and play it before I go to sleep…”
“So if it won’t attack us it's alright?” He asked as he gave out a smile.
“And if I could delete his voice from my memory that would have been just great…”
“You really complicate this too much...” She closed her beautiful eyes and placed her hand on her forehead. I didn't know what that bastard said to her but it did bother me.
The knight stood up still with a big smile on his face and came right in front of me.
“Haha, I was joking about what I said early...” I said with a crooked smile as he plucked me out of the ground.
“Please don’t kill me, please don’t kill me!!!” I could only pray to God for the knight to spare me, or it could be a lot worse.
“Don’t tell me he loved how tasty my berries looked and wanted to take me as his garden plant, NO!!!” I screamed inside fearing that now I had to pretend to be a plant for the rest of my life in this monster house.
But something surprising happened as he placed me on the ground near the woman as if he knew that I wasn’t a normal bush.
“Shit, he knows!” I pretended that he got the wrong idea and fell to the side as if I couldn't stand on my own.
“Hmph!” The woman let out a grunt and gave me a glare that pierced my soul. I was scared a few times already in this world but when I saw her eyes for some reason it exceeded every terrifying monster or moment combined.
“How could such an angel be so scary?” I asked myself as I trembled inside.
“If you won't do it I will!” She screamed something that made my instincts scream: “Run forest, run!” I immediately turned my roots into feet and tried to run away, not thinking about the two people that were totally going to see me doing that.
But before I could go somewhere a hand caught me from above and raised me up from the ground, the knight with the name of Glad that what I assumed, was holding me up in the air while having a big smile.
“See, it's friendly.” Glad continued to smile.
“I wouldn’t call that friendly...” Scarlet still was annoyed.
“Oh common don’t be like that, surely after we wash the blood out of it, you will like it even more.” Glad took me to the pond that was located nearby and started to drown me inside it.
“He is trying to torture me! I tell you everything, please just stop!” I screamed as I was entering and exiting the pond's water. After a few minutes of this weird waterboarding experience, I have been placed in front of the beauty scarlet once more.
“See how lovely he looks.” Glad smiled at Scarlett as he said it while she returned a scary glare back at him.
I looked at them and said, “I need to do something or I am feeling that one of them will surely kill me...” I started to pull berries from my body and reached my hands with them to Scarlett.
She and Glad had a surprising look on their faces, for some reason a lot more surprising than seeing a moving plant.
“See, see!” His smile got even wider.
“I heard stories of smart monsters being nice to people before but never experienced it myself...” She mumbled.
Scarlett was for some reason speechless while Glad still had that huge smile on his face. I didn’t really know what to do so I tried to give Scarlett my berries again, and this time she took it.
“Thanks.” She said something with a beautiful smile that reminded me of a sunrise as she took the berries, it took my breath away.
”Well we should start moving.” Said Glad while still having a huge smile on his face, don't know why but this smile gave me a weird feeling.
And just like that they left me as I stood there looking at them leaving and waving goodbye to me once before entering the deeper parts of the forest, at least that was what I hoped would happen but the reality was a little bit different as I was kidnapped against my will.
