Chapter 046 - One Mind Eight Legs

I shook my head with pain as I could see the back of the boar that was running away.

“Goddammit, where did this tree pop out from?” I said as I held my head with my pawns and even saw some blood coming out of the wolf's nose.

“I am injured lovely, *Self Awareness*.”

“I am fine but the wolf got most of the damage. I better get going after the boar or I will lose him.” I tried to move but I barely was able to move the wolf's legs.

“*Sigh* After effects of the *Adrenaline Rush* skill, I hope that the paralyzing poison worked well and the boar wouldn’t run too far away.” I said as I slowly limped forwards mostly using the *Wooden Puppet* skill to move but it was barely enough.

“You can run but you can't hide!" I shouted in the direction where the boar ran to, as I walked forward following the blood stains that were on the floor.

"Soon my tasty prey, soon I will turn you into a barbeque!" My imaginary face filled with delight, I wanted to taste some meat long ago but couldn't as I didn’t have a mouth, but then when I tasted the cooked mushrooms and the fruits through the wolf I just couldn’t wait to taste some real food.

As I walked after the bloodstains I started to smell a different monster in the same direction.

“Shit did the boar encounter monsters, no it's my prey I won’t give it!” I shouted and started to move faster towards the boar, as I was not that far away I started to hear its squeals.

*Whheee!* *Whheeeeee!*

As it came into my vision I saw a small dog-like creature standing on his hind legs while holding a small spear, he was poking with the spear into the boar creating new wounds on his body, while the boar was lying on his side completely immobilized.

“What the hell is this thing? *Inspect*” I asked as I immediately inspected this new monster.

-Forest Kobold Lv3-

Health: 16/16

Mana: 1/1

Stamina: 8/10

*Kobold* - A pest-like creature that can usually be found in forests or plains. On their own, there are little dangers from these creatures but be careful as they never go out alone, if you meet one of them it means that there are at least a few more of them around, or worse there can be a nest in the area.

Their nest is usually a borrow and filled with traps, ambushes, and maze-like tunnels, even veteran adventurers are very careful in them as it is always unexpected what weird sneaky tactics the Kobolds will use to defend their nests.

***

“It's weak, but by the inspection, there should be a few more of them around, can I even fight one of them in my condition?” I asked myself in doubt, as I was already exhausted from using *Adrenaline Rush*.

“I guess I can use the spear and try to outrange this thing or I can try to intimidate it and hope that its friends aren’t too close to here…” I thought to myself as I slowly walked towards it.

I came out of the bushes and started to growl to the best of my abilities and at the same time I released the *Killing Intent* skill from my body.

*Growl!*

The Kobold immediately turned around and saw me, he released a quiet growl too while he was looking at me from top to bottom. By the looks of it, he noticed that the wolf was quite badly injured so he thought that maybe it could intimidate me back.

“This little shit, go away from my prey or I will kill you!” I shouted at him using *Soul Link* and at the same time I remembered, “Wait, didn't the wolf have killing intent too.”

And indeed he had so without further ado I used, the wolf *Killing Intent* skill as well, the fur of the Kobold immediately stood up as if a lighting would strike him any second and he slowly started to back off while releasing weak growls filled with fear and even a whimper.

*Growl…* *growl…* *whimper…*

I didn’t stop sending the killing intent until I couldn’t detect the Kobold while using the *Detection* skill.

“Looks like he is gone for now but it doesn’t mean that he will not come back with his friends, I need to deal with the boar before any more surprises would appear.” I said but it was harder than I said, as right now I had only around eighteen mana, with the wolfs it's another four so I will only be able to use the *Life Steal* skill around four or five times at most.

And that would mean that I won’t have any more mana to defend myself if something bad happens like me encountering more monsters or other fun surprises.

“Shit I am in a pickle, I need to relocate this boar closer to our hideout, but with the state of the wolf right now it would be quite hard for me…” I thought to myself and then an idea popped into my head but first inspected the boar.

-Opertus Wild Boar Lv9-

Health: 29/41

Mana: 9/9

Stamina: 13/15

Status: Olfactory Camouflaged, Parelaize(Strong), Confusion(Medium), Bleeding(Weak)

“Looks like he is bleeding a little bit from the spear that is still stuck in his back but because it's still blocking the wound it doesn’t look that serious, and then there are these small injuries from that stupid Kobold, damaging my prey! How dare he!” I examined the boar's body from top to bottom, some thoughts crossing my mind.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

“Alright I think it's possible but first we must heal him!” I shouted in my head as I imagined myself wearing a doctor's clothes.

I used my *Grow* skill to create more roots and send them to the boar's wounds, they flew slithered as if they were snakes. Immediately after that, I used my *Thorns* skill at the tip of the roots and immediately started to work on his injuries creating beautiful stitches, well at least they were beautiful in my mind surely any real doctor would faint if they saw my sloppy work.

*Wheeee…* The boar released a weak screech of pain.

“Interesting looks like this poison doesn’t block the pain nerves, unlucky for you.” I moved to the spear that was still embedded in his back, I grabbed it by its end and counted to three.

“One, two, three!” With the full force I could muster I pulled out the spear from his ass, I mean back…

*Wheeeeeee!* From the pain he was even able to move his head a little, but that was only for a second before his head hit the ground again.

“Call me surprised.” I said but immediately went to work on the injury moving my roots as tentacles in those videos you love watching, and just before you can say Mississippi correctly the wound was stitched, but a lot more crudely as blood sprayed from it and I had to act fast.

*”First Aid” leveled up to Lv2*

“Phew… That was intense.” I said to myself as I removed the imaginary sweat from my imaginary forehead.

“Now it's time… Rise my minion, rise!” I shouted as more and more roots were created until they completely engulfed the boar and created an exoskeleton around him.

“Ha ha ha! I am a genius!” I shouted to myself as I looked at the standing boar that was engulfed in the *Wooden Puppet* skill exoskeleton.

“I knew that this skill name was weird, I can use it on anyone. Now all I need to do is walk to our hideout before I run out of mana while I move both of these meat bags there…” I thought that it would be a walk in the park but I was wrong as now I needed to coordinate both of their movements at the same time.

“Left, right, left right left… I said left!” I shouted as I tried my best to move the duo but the pig fell to the side again, as the weight difference between the wolf and the boar was quite big and its legs lengths were different it was a lot harder to move the boar.

“Goddammit, I barely walked a tenth of the way to the hideout, at this phase I won’t be able to get to the hideout before nightfall…” I thought to myself if I should use the *Overtake* skill on the boar too, but I wasn’t so sure that I even could take control of two monsters at the same time, and even if I did it wouldn’t have changed much as it was still paralyzed.

“Shit, I don’t have another way I guess I just try my best and get there as soon as possible.” I continued slowly moving forward once more, “Left right, left right, left right…” Until slowly I was getting the hang of it.

*”Wooden Puppet” leveled up to Lv2*

Suddenly I felt that it was a lot easier to move forward with the boar and the wolf, as if I was doing a math problem and suddenly something clicked in my head and an answer appeared in front of me.

“I can walk, I can walk!” I shouted as I didn’t even need to walk like a toddler anymore.

“Wait, maybe I can even run.” I said as the boar's legs moved in a weird direction and he immediately fell to the side.

“Nevermind…” I murmured as I increased my tempo and continued to walk to the hideout. Time slowly passed and I was just a minute away from the hideout when the leaves on my body started to glow, and at the same time, all the trees around us shined with many colors as well.

“Ah crap, I need to hurry, before some kind of dragon would pop out from somewhere!” I panicked and started to walk faster, the debuff of the *Adrenaline Rush* has already gone from the wolf's body, but the boar was just too slow.

“Common fatty if you won’t hurry up, both of us are toast!” I shouted at the boar blaming him for being slow, fully aware of the fact that it was my fault and not his.

As I was just in front of the tunnel to the hideout I suddenly heard something weird coming from above, something that made the fur of the wolf completely stand straight.

It was an eerie high-pitched whistling sound.

*Kkeeeeeeeeeee!*

I instinctively rolled into the hideout tunnel with the wolf's body not even noticing that I used the *Roll* skill, pulling the boar with me by the roots. As soon as I hit the wall of the tunnel two huge claws hit the ground just where we were a moment ago. With the sound of some huge wings whooshing in front of the tunnel.

*Whoosh* *whoosh* *whoosh!*

“A real dragon!!!” I panicked as I ran further deeper into the tunnel not missing the chance to inspect the monster before entering deeply inside.

-Giga Bat Lv23-

Health: 63/63

Mana: 21/23

Stamina: 39/40

*Giga Bat* - Huge bat-like monsters that can be found in deep caves or open dungeons. Fast mobile and dangerous, but on the other hand quite weak for a middle-rank monster. Can be easily defeated with just one heavy injury to its wings if you can overcome it in strength. Careful for its sonic attacks as they can damage others even from a long range.

***

“Sonic attacks?” I asked when suddenly I heard a terrible screeching sound that made even my soul shudder.

*SSSSSKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!*

I immediately covered the wolf's ear with my roots, as the sound was so terrible that its body started to shake. On the other hand, I was alright but still choose to disable the *Magic Perception* skill as I felt as if someone was playing on my nerves as he was playing on a violin.

After a few moments of this nightmare, activated the *Magic Perception* again and continued to push forward through the tunnels deeply into our hideout. Fearing that this crazy bat would release another one of these weird attacks.

As I moved forward I found out that I was stuck, as the boar couldn’t go through the last few tunnels, I had no other choice but to make them wider again.

“If this goes on like this some monster would try to make this hideout their new home, I need to deal with this fast.” I said to myself as I popped out of the tunnel into the light of the shining tree.

I took a big sigh of relief as I looked around the hideout and looked up in horror as I saw a shadow fly by the cliff opening that was high up in the air.

“Don’t tell me that this thing will try and squeeze into here.” I prayed to god as I hugged the walls of the hideout and used the *Stealth* skill to the best of my abilities, while not making even a small sound hoping that this nightmare of a thing will go away.

Only after not moving from my spot for more than an hour did I calm down and walked to the tree.

“Godmait don’t scare me like this, for a moment I thought that our hideout was compromised…” I walked to the tree and fell to the side tired from the long day of hunting and getting hunted.

I looked at the boar and noticed that it was bleeding from the ears, so I immediately inspected it fearing for worse.

“Well now that we are out of the danger zone, what should we do with you…” I asked myself as I looked at the boar. I almost ran out of mana and couldn’t use the *Life Steal* skill on him so the only logical thing to do would be to bind it somehow and I just had the greatest idea.

I came to an area around the tree, checked that there were no big roots in the ground, and started to dig the ground with the *Dig* skill.

Opening a hole in the ground in the width of the boar and a little bit longer than it in depth, then I twisted the exoskeleton roots and bounded the boar's legs and mouth completely.

“Thank god that I didn’t get a bondage skill…” I joked as I slowly pushed the boar into the hole with its face up so it wouldn’t suffocate. Then I rooted myself near the hole while still looking at the opening in the side of the ceiling cave.

“I should do something about this too, or a flying monster could just fly into here and make it their new home.” I said to myself thinking of ideas of how to block the opening somehow as now I was afraid for my life once more.

“Forget it I can’t do much about it right now but slowly I should prepare or I will just be another prey as this pig will soon be mine.” I said as I slowly closed the *Magic Perception* skill and went to sleep while still being on high alert through the wolf senses.
