Chapter Twenty-Eight

~Amorelli~

I woke up to the sun hitting my face. I groaned and stretched. I looked to my side to see that Mordikai wasn't there. Instead, I smelled food being cooked downstairs and I put on my slippers and made my way downstairs. Zinniah had already started eating her pancakes, bacon, and eggs. My mouth watered at the smell and sight of the food. He then gave me my plate. It consisted of bacon, eggs, and french toast with a glass of water.

"Thank you Mordikai."

"You're welcome, Princess." He kissed my forehead and went to eat his breakfast. We all just sat in a comfortable silence as we ate, listening to the waves and seagulls and children playing. We then head the doorbell ring and Mordikai immediately became alert. I saw Comrade come out for a minute on his way to the door. I was calm, however, since I knew it was my family. Zinniah placed her plate in the sink and washed up and then came right back downstairs. When Mordikai opened the door, Comrade went away immediately.

"Your Majesties, please, come in." He opened the door wider and looked like he was starting up a sweat. I let out a little giggle from where I was sitting. My mother came up behind me and hugged me. I sighed and leaned into her touch.

"My God, I have missed you so much Amorelli." She looked over to Zinniah, who was standing awkwardly.

"And you must be the Zinniah Amorelli talked about."

"Yes, your majesty." She bowed and my mother laughed.

"Please, she said you were like a sister. You may call me Arianna or mom dear." Zinniah squealed and hugged her. I laughed and saw my dad come in.

"Daddy." I went up and hugged him. He held me tight.

"I'm sorry about last night Amorelli... I was scared. I felt like I failed you because I stopped looking."

"Daddy, I'm not mad. I promise." I let go of him and saw my three brothers and little sister. She hid behind them and this broke my heart. My own sister is afraid of me.

"Hi... I'm Amorelli, your big sister. What' your name?" I sat on the ground so I didn't look like a giant.

"Mariana." She said shyly.

"That's a pretty name. Is that to remind you of home?" She smiled softly and I giggled. I stood up and looked at my brothers. Lyle, Marcus, and Sebastian just stared me down. Trying to test me and see if I guess I really am their family. I looked again and saw my grandmother with a man, which I'm assuming is my grandfather.

"Grandma, Grandpa!" I hugged both of them. They held me close and smiled.

"I never forget a Grandbaby... Amorelli, we've missed you so much." He kissed my cheeks and suddenly my brothers and sister didn't seem skeptical anymore. It was like they were waiting for Grandpa to confirm it was me.

"You guys didn't believe me... Did you?" I grew angry now. My own family didn't even believe it was me, no matter what I did to prove them wrong.

"You saw me! You saw the colors of my tail! I know that my colors show that I am of royal birth. I'm not stupid! You saw what I could do and you know that your firstborn daughter could only do that. Yet you didn't believe me!"

"I believed it was you Amorelli! Lynus, however, wanted to make sure it was you and not some impostor. And your brothers didn't trust you at all. Mariana didn't even know who you were because she wasn't even born yet when you were taken so I don't blame her. But believe me, I never forgot your face, your smile, the way your eyes glistened that beautiful gray. I never forgot or gave up on you, baby. Please believe me." My mother pleaded.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

"I believe you, mom." I shed a tear.

"I just can't believe the others." I walked into my room and stared out at the ocean from the balcony. I sighed and started crying. My family didn't believe me. I heard the door open and saw that is was Zinniah. She stood next to me and laid her head on my shoulder.

"I'm sure everything is going to be alright."

"What if things aren't okay? Zinniah, what if the same thing happens to you? What if your family doesn't believe you and they need you to prove that you are who you say you are?" She frowned. She obviously hadn't thought of that.

"At least you don't have siblings that can be skeptical of you. Hopefully, your parents believe it's you." I couldn't stop crying. I was silently letting my tears flow. And there was nothing I could do to stop it.

"Baby?" I wiped my tears and turned around. Mordikai was standing there, waiting for me to come and be held by him. I walked over and hugged him. He kissed my head and Zinniah had started to leave the room. After a few seconds went by, she came back in.

"Where did everyone go?"

"They left. They wanted me to tell you, Amorelli, that they were sorry and that they understand if you do not want to see them again. I told them that they should have told you this themselves, but they didn't listen." This made me cry out. I fell to the ground and held my head in my hands.

"They hate me..." I couldn't stop crying.

"Amorelli they don't hate you. They love you."

"If they did they wouldn't doubt me. They wouldn't be skeptical of me being their daughter and sister." They held me as I cried. But for some reason, the skies were turning gray. My pain. My pain was causing a storm. Thunder and lightning clashed in the sky, lighting everything and being able to hear the booms of thunder for miles. It was so dark you couldn't even see the sun. We all heard screams from outside, terrified of the sudden storm. I looked up for just a second and saw waves hitting the shore and shops. They were like mini tsunamis. Everything was going awry.

"Amorelli! Baby, please calm down! You're going to destroy the whole city!" Mordikai held me close but my heart kept breaking.

"Zinniah! Go hide somewhere safe! Go!" She ran out of the room while Mordikai tried to help me.

"Amorelli... Baby please I love you... Don't do this..." He lifted my head and kissed me softly. My heart fluttered and I had butterflies in my chest. The sparks were more than enough to calm me down. He continued to hold me close and I stopped crying. The waves stopped crashing, but it was still raining outside. He stopped kissing me and looked me in the eye.

"Baby, we still need your family to help us out... I know you don't want to see them and you don't have to. If you want I can arrange for me and your family to meet somewhere and discuss everything. I would take Zinniah with me. However, it wouldn't be safe for you to stay here all alone, so you could either go back to Russia and I could have Diesel come here, or you can go to the Trench and wait there. I could mind-link you when your family is on their way back. How does that sound?" I sniffled and nodded.

"I'll go to the trench." I mind linked him, not trusting my voice. He nodded and kissed my forehead.

"Let me go tell Zinniah. I'll be right back. Do you want to wait in bed for me? We could take a nap?" I nodded and got into bed. I yawned, not knowing how tired that would get me. I closed my eyes and waited for Mordikai to come back. When he did, he shut the door and laid down next to me under the covers. I sighed and snuggled into him. He held me protectively as we slept.

~Lynus~

I sat on my throne. I felt the water and the storm going on outside. Amorelli is upset. Heartbroken, even. She truly is my daughter... Only the first-born female of Ariana and I can have the power to do that. And Mariana is far too young to have any powers at all. She doesn't get those until she's between ten and thirteen years old. And as far as I know, the boys don't have powers at all. I sigh. I've failed as a father. I should be protecting my daughter, not hurting her. I get up from my throne only to have my mother come towards me.

"Mother? What is it?"

"Amorelli and Zinniah know where the other royals are being held captive. That's what we were to discuss today. However, different events occurred." My mother sighed and continued.

"Mordikai wants to meet up with us tomorrow. He would be bringing Zinniah. Amorelli would be coming down here while they are gone because she feels safer here instead of being all alone up there." I nodded. She then left. I can't believe my own daughter doesn't even want to see me. I messed everything up. Hell, Ariana won't even talk to me. She won't talk to the boys either. They haven't left their rooms since we came back.

This is going to be hard convincing my daughter that I believe her and love her dearly.
