Chapter 14: The Conjurer

Back to the present

“I think you should select abilities that increase your range of vision and hearing”

“I thought so as well” Odin nodded in agreement with his sister.

“It’s normal to think about it, the most important thing for you now is to survive. No matter how strong of an ability you get, you will not become stronger than the city lord in a short time right?”

“Indeed although I do not know how strong the city load is, he is definitely leagues above someone like Shane.” Replied Odin

“So it doesn't matter if you become invisible or fly or run fast, he can kill you once he decides.”

“I understand now, thanks for the advice” answered Odin, albeit in a dejected tone.

“You really have become much smarter than before. I am glad to see that as it will increase your chances of survival. I’m sure it won’t be long before you can stand against the city lord”

“Mhm.”

‘I would have needed an explanation but now I can understand what she meant with just a hint.’

How will the city load come to find out about me? How will he decide to attack me? For that, the first requirement would be our identity as slaves.

It is difficult to hide our identities completely, but even if they were discovered, if he can hear or see others far away, if he can observe their each and every moment, he will have a much better chance at keeping him and his companions safe from the prying eyes and ears of others.

It's not like the city load will come running straight away once he discovers that there are some escaped slaves in his City.

If he can eliminate the first person who discovers his identity or escape from the first wave of soldiers coming to capture them and hide, he will not have to face the city lord.

If all goes well he might not even get discovered by him and get some peace before making further decisions.

Other flashy abilities might be too eye-catching and will have negative effects before he becomes strong enough.

Although hearing and sight seem to be rather simple abilities, when pushed to the extreme they can be more useful.

He could get a lot of information by just hearing the conversations from people nearby. He could just go to a busy street and learn a lot about Noah Empire.

His behavior would then be completely normal while getting information, so no one would suspect him of anything if he didn’t even speak.

When it comes to Intel gathering and survival, it is for the best. ‘However I will lack any means of attacking, It's rather similar to scout class.’

“Don't think too much about it and select something you will have fun with. Just surviving isn't your only goal now is it? If so you can simply live here. There’s no need to get out from the underground mine.”

“Of course, I will choose the coolest looking one” Replied Odin with sparkling eyes. Her words reminded him of The Wanderer.

“Have you informed your friends about it?”

“Not yet, I don't have the time. Can you do it for me please? “

‘I doubt they won't even believe me in the first place’ Odin thought to himself

“It’s better if you don’t tell them before coming out from the third layer.” She said with a frown

“Is there something troubling you?” asked Odin with concern.

“It’s been quite chaotic outside. But if we make use of that then I’m sure we can escape from here more easily”

“We? Are you willing to leave this place for real?”

“I’m not too sure myself, but we’ll see when the time comes” She replied in a nonchalant manner

“That’s great. Give it some thought”

Although Odin sensed that something wasn’t quite right about her behavior, he ignored it. ‘As long as they can escape it wouldn’t matter.’

“I have thought of a good excuse. When you go to the third layer I will send the four of them to look for you as well. It won't be suspicious if some slaves go missing in the third layer as it's not the first time this is happening anyway, and I can easily handle the consequences for the time being.”

“That will be for the best. Wait for me and don't get into any trouble. I will come to take you and everyone here out as soon as I can.”

“Do you plan to help people here once you are out?” She asked all of a sudden.

“I will, well indirectly that is” replied Odin with some guilt

“No need for that now, when you decide to leave the Mizar City, just come and get us out. It won't be easy to take away so many people without a gruesome fight, and I don't want any unnecessary deaths. When you are strong enough to kill anyone who stands in your way to freedom, we can come back here and take everyone away.”

“You really don’t know whether or not you want to come with us huh!” Exclaimed Odin.

“Not at all. But it’s not important now. Leave these things to me do your best” she assured with a smile but thought inwardly

‘It’s not up to me whether or not can I live here’ There was an ongoing conflict in Mizar which had been peaceful for thousands of years. And because of Lucas, the entire underground mine is also involved in it. As the one in charge of this place, there’s no way that she can avoid trouble.

As Odin looked at the woman sitting in front of him, she no longer gave off the vibe of a gentle and caring sister.

Her Ash black hair fluttered in the wind and her blue eyes a shade lighter than my own had a fierce gaze in them.

‘Wait blue eyes!!!’ her sudden change in eye color perplexed him. He thought that only he had blue eyes because of his parents, but now it seemed it wasn’t the case.

In that case there’s only one explanation. The color blue must be because of her bloodline awakening.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

He had a lot of questions but he didn’t ask them. He knew that she was quite stubborn and would only answer if she wanted to.

“Believe me, I will.” Odin said resolutely and went out without looking back, his purple eye looking menacingly at the third layer below.

One thing was for certain, if she truly had this bloodline then that ‘thing’ would also target her son.

‘All the more reason to kill it as soon as possible’ thought Odin as he reached his room.

The evening approached with grace as the sun went below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and yellow.

The twilight settled in, carrying with it a cool breeze that soothed the spirits of miners going home. Odin set there on his bed and looked out of the window.

He had spent the remaining time looking for more information about classes and skills, how they work, and how to create them. Though he learned a lot, he wasn’t sure that he could create a perfect class for himself.

[Remaining time]

[00:00:60]

Ominira reminded him of the approaching moment that would decide his future.

‘Whatever. I don’t care even if I become weak by having freedom. I’ll stand by my ideals and fight for them, however tiny the chances of success are.’

Just like the last time, The tome trembled in his consciousness when he became more resolute. With much greater intensity this time.

[You can select a class now]

[Would you like to select from the existing classes or create your own?]

‘Finally, it's time,’ thought Odin and selected the second option without hesitation.

At that moment, Odin felt his vision go completely black and all he could sense was a vast space around him.

‘No, my vision’s fine. It’s just that there is nothing around me. Air, land, light… nothing. But instead of feeling scared by the emptiness, Odin felt at ease. It was the feeling of comfort that surpassed everything he had ever felt in his life before.

“Where am I?” He asked Ominira with curiosity.

But instead of answering him, something else occurred.

His surroundings changed and where his feet were was now purple fog. It seemed to stretch in a straight line as far as his eyes could see. Only the place near his feet was clear, the rest remained in a blurred state.

As he tried to make sense of what was happening around him, a thought occurred to him.

‘It looks like a path’

As if to answer him, the fog at his feet became completely clear and there was a crystalline purple area.

It was pulsing with flashes of light and more importantly, he perceived images that were present in them.

What surprised him was that he could resonate with each and every part of this space, as if they were the same as him.

But before he can observe more, the long awaited replay from Ominira came.

[You have chosen to walk on your own path]

[You have been given The name of Odin]

[You have The eye of Veritas]

[You have the authority of wisdom (temporary)]

‘Oh yeah, I have the authority of wisdom! I almost forgot about it. Can I finally know what it is?

As he was thinking about it, the runic text in front of him started to tremble as if they were influenced by something.

He knew that he was communicating with Ominira, but unlike usual times, his consciousness was inside Ominira.

He looked around and the path and the empty space disappeared, replaced by pages. Millions of pages as far as his eye could see. Just like before, he didn’t get to observe more as another message popped up.

[You have broken the law of causality]

[Your name allows you to use a weapon that does not belong to your path]

[Requirement: Complete synchronization with Ominira]

[The eye of Veritas grants you the skills of a path similar to your own]

[Each synchronization will unlock a skill]

[Current 0/3]

Jackpot! Odin almost screamed even though he was just a consciousness now

He knew that the wanderer had left him with something useful but never in his wildest dreams had he thought that it would be something this heaven-defying.

He knew that the law of causality was an absolute law that one cannot break regardless of their strength. However, with the eye of Veritas he can now use the ability of a similar path.

Well, that’s what Ominira told him anyway. ‘It seems like even ominira doesn’t know things about the wanderer’

Although three skills don't look like much, he can overcome the disadvantages of his own path using them. For example, the lack of attack power in scout class.

Moreover, He knew that his name was not something trivial, but he never thought it could grant him the weapon of a completely different path.

‘Well it's far off in the future as I don't even know what are the requirements for the second synchronization,’ thought Odin as he calmed down from the excitement and read further.

Now I can cover all the aspects I need in order to stand at the top.

[Would you like to use your authority of wisdom?]

“Isn't it a one-time thing? What effects does it have?” he asked in puzzlement as he couldn’t even read about its effects so how was he supposed to decide whether to use it or not

[Unable to answer]

Tch… whatever. Odin believed that since the question was asked at this time it must be something useful in his current situation

However, he had to be careful about the future as well. If it was some escape or attack related power, He wouldn't use it right now but since it is essentially knowledge and this is the moment which will decide his future, he decided to use it now.

‘Hopefully it can help me create a better class.’

[You have used the authority of wisdom]

[Your consciousness cannot contain the vast amount of information]

[You will lose the memory of this time]

[Duration 1 hour]

Odin felt such a terrible headache that cannot be described into words. It was like countless ants were crawling in his brain and eating it out. He howled in pain but the next instant it disappeared. No, to be more exact, everything disappeared around him.

Each and every question he ever had, was answered at this moment.

All of his memories when he was with the wanderer, even memories when he was just a Kid, the memory of his parents whom he had never known flooded his brain and at this moment he felt omniscient

'Mom' a hazy silhouette of a figure appeared in his memories. He never knew what happened to his parents, he thought that they died in an accident but they were very much alive now.

He didn't know what happened to them or why they left him alone, but he didn't even care at this point, he was just glad that they were alive.

He knew from the smile on that face that she loved me. There must be no other way and they had to leave.

As he was thinking about it, suddenly all of the information regarding his parents appeared in his mind. Not only that, but even their past and future appeared in his mind.

He felt overwhelmed by the power of wisdom at this moment. He was no longer just consciousness, he was wisdom itself.

He had access to every piece of information that existed since the creation of all things, but with his current capabilities he can barely use a trillionth of that.

But it was enough. Now creating a class was as easy as breathing for him. Though he could not see his own future, he could still perceive bits and pieces of it.

Because he had asked so many questions to Ominira before, he had sufficient questions to seek answers for.

Now he knew why Ominira spoke in his own voice. ‘For Ominira and I are one and the same.’

Albeit only on the surface level, now he had information about countless paths and classes across the entity of Svemir.

He also vaguely guessed what Svemir was, but now wasn’t the time to think about that.

Now He also knew how powerful his weapon would be.

He realized why no one can ascend from this world now. Due to the lack of knowledge no matter how hard working or intelligent a person is, they can never walk on their path without a mistake unless they have sufficient knowledge or someone guiding them

Although he didn't have a mentor or someone to help him on every step, He had Ominira and this opportunity given by The Wanderer which is countless times more precious.

‘It's much better than someone telling me what to do as I have more freedom to develop the way I like.’

The time he spent traveling with him felt like dozens of times longer than his lifespan, and also just a second. He could clearly remember his visage now.

Even though I haven't seen his face, he is the closest kin I have after sister. He also helped me more than anyone.

‘One day I'll make sure to help him,’ thought Odin with determination.

Although he would forget everything that happens here, he can still create structures for his skills and abilities.

Even if I forget them, Ominira can guide me with the trails I leave behind in my path here.

Odin decided to walk on the path he had never even thought of before. People rarely ever walked on this path and the classes related to it were few and far between, but that wasn’t a concern for him. He will create a class of his own to reach the pinnacle, Or rather, halfway to the pinnacle but whatever…

Odin spent the remaining time working on his class and barely managed to finish on time.

Damn! I got sidetracked in the aesthetics of the skills

‘But it’s all worth it’ thought Odin as he looked at his skills projection with satisfaction. He then summoned the ominira and wrote on it for the first time

I shall be “THE CONJURER”
