Suddenly, everything fell into silence.
'What is he saying? What does he mean by he killed his own parents?' I became confused and flabbergasted by the situation. I furrowed my eyebrows and tried to recall the contents of the 「Kismet」. That's when I suddenly remembered, his parents was said to have died in a fire.
The fire killed his parents, so what does he mean...
Seeing me silent Choi Kwan continued, "I was playing in the kitchen at that time, I was still very young...then, the last thing I knew after I accidentally hit the fuse and it broke as it was splashed with water, then, fire spread everywhere..."
I listened closely and the more I did, the more my heart ached.
"After that, my dad found me and immediately got me out of the house. But my mom was still inside on the second floor and so dad had to go back."
"I tried to stop him but he did not listen and still entered the burning house until, the house completely exploded and I lost consciousness as I was blown away. The next thing I knew, my parents were nowhere to be seen and the head of the village found me and treated my injuries"
"That's when they told me the truth, that my parents-...had passed away."
Choi Kwan smiled bitterly as he said "They then sent me to a church and taught me everything about the goddess of light who had once gave us light and hope"
Suddenly Choi Kwan lost his smile as he said with a dark expression, "When I got home from picking up fruits, I found that the entire village had been attacked by monsters"
"And you know why we were unprepared for the attack?"
Hearing this question I couldn't help but look at Choi Kwan with sadness. I know, I know very well what the reason is.
"The capital did not inform us on purpose about the coming monster raid and did not send any help to protect the villagers"
'Whoosh'
Cold wind blew past us as my shirt and hair flattered. My contrasting coloured eyes showed sadness in them.
"I'm, very sorry for what happened..."
Choi Kwan was silent but still forced a smile and shook his head, saying "It's not your fault"
'Crackle'
The sound of fire cracking sounded before it finally burned out and darkness engulfed us once again.

The stars shone and Choi Kwan slapped both of his cheek until it became red and took a deep breath. Then he smiled again like nothing happened and asked, "How about you? What's your story?"
"...Me?"
Choi Kwan hummed and nodded. I fell silent before I sighed with a bitter smile. Putting down the stick of the already eaten roasted boar, I looked up at the starry sky and spoke. "Well, you could say, I'm a lonely person"
"I was abandoned by my parents at a young age, I was bullied in the military days because I was lacking formal education as well as having a weak body" Thinking of something I chuckled and said "Even now, as the only survivor, I'm still alone"
Choi Kwan looked at me sadly and I said "But, I did had friends" Hearing this Choi Kwan smiled a little. But then I added a sentence that made him had a sad face.
"But they all died infront of me."
I looked at the stars and said with a bitter smile, "They were off an a mission to hunt down monsters, but unexpectedly the monsters were A - Grade above. When I was informed and arrived, it was already too late"
The next sentence I spoke made Choi Kwan widened his eyes in despair.
"And that's, when I found out that it was all a set up, by 'Fate'."
"...Fate?" Choi Kwan asked and I nodded my head with a solemn look. Choi Kwan became confused and thought i was just blaming Fate irrationally but seeing my serious face he couldn't help but fell silent. 'Is it, really Fate that killed his friends?'
He then couldn't help thinking, 'Could my parents-, and the villagers, also got killed by Fate?'
I looked at Choi Kwan before I looked away silently, I do not plan on telling him about the 「Kismet」or that 'Fate' also was the one to kill his loved ones. I still cannot act rashly.
Stretching my limbs I yawned and said "That's enough, let's rest for now and keep moving tomorrow"
Choi Kwan then recalled something and said "Aren’t you gonna give light to this world?"
I unconsciously smirked at his words and said "World? How can I give light to the entire world? I can probably give light to a city or maybe just a small vilage"
Choi Kwan wanted to say more but I interrupted him and said "Good Night" before leaning on a tree with my eyes closed. Choi Kwan was dumbfounded and couldn't help but sigh before also leaning against a tree and looked up at the sky.
'Fate....' Reaching out his hands towards the sky he slowly closed it and mumbled something.
"If it's Fate that killed everyone, then I would not hesitate to tear apart this damned Fate"
....
After some time passed we woke up and no monsters or wild animals attacked us as Kwan did a great job in killing them while I was asleep.
Then, we finally arrived at our first destination towards the capital.
A village that is larger compared to the village Choi Kwan lived in.
The Lightless Village.
As we walked through the village I noticed that not many people had opened their stalls yet and I thought that it might be because they are still asleep.
But to my dismay, they were not and was doing something else that made me filled with rage and hatred.
'Thud!'
Suddenly something bumped me and we fell backwards. I groaned in pain and looked to see that it was a child covered in bandages, even his face is bandaged, only his left eye, nose, and mouth are not covered.
"Ugh, are you alright?" I asked and the child looked at me before we heard the sound of people yelling.
The child struggled to get up immediately and I also got up. The child was about to run away but I caught his wrist and asked "What's wrong?"
Then at the alley we saw a group of people with torches running towards us. The child panicked and struggled violently but I held both of his shoulders and coaxed him, "Hey! Look at me!"
The child stopped and indeed stared at me. I smiled and said "It's okay"
The child with great reluctance, nodded his head and hid behind me instead. The group of people finally arrived and an elder with a long white beard pointed his fingers at us and spoke in a trembling voice, "Get away from that demon!"
"Demon?" Choi Kwan muttered with a frown.
"The other people nodded as they spoke simultaneously, "He's a monster!"
"A curse!"
"The reason why the goddess of light abandoned us!"
Hearing their words my face slowly lost it's gentleness and I stared at them coldly, "What about you watch your words?"
There was no hint of smile, only coldness and disgust.
The people were stunned before they retorted "You don't know anything!"
"That's right! What we said is the truth!"
"How so?" This time it was Choi Kwan who spoke as he stepped forward with a domineering aura. The people trembled under his momentum but still forced to speak. "14 years ago there was still messages from the goddess of light and everyone lived with faith and belief but after this devil was born the presence of the goddess of light suddenly disappeared and the church who was about to bless him suddenly broke and collapsed on it's own!"
"What's more! His eyes are red! The symbol of evil! He's a bad omen!"
"Enough with this! It's time to finally kill this bastard!"
With that everyone started to run towards us once again and just as Choi Kwan was about to step forward and unsheath his sword, I was faster than him and stepped forward to block the child.
"If you dare to take one more step, I'll tear your limbs apart!"
