After the first six months, Lin not only started to cultivate, he also slowly understood the world and his family situation from the bits and pieces of his mother's talk.
The world is called Casya and it's quite large with three Empires and a number of "small" kingdoms, and his family was situated inside one of those kingdoms.
The family he was born into is a declining family of blacksmiths... not only that but the best mortal blacksmiths family in the world, the weapons personally crafted by the patriarch were comparable to the best low earth step weapons from the sects, while those crafted by the clansmen varied from low to high human step weapons.
Now, this achievement could seem quite dull, but the sect's blacksmiths were all immortals which already opened their dantian and used precious metals as bases for the weapon they forged, however the patriarch was only at the 5th layer of body refinement and used only steel as the forging material.
Sometimes blacksmiths from various sects would come to watch the patriarch or other clan members craft in order to gain enlightenment depending on the blacksmith skill. Until now only one immortal asked to see the patriarch craft a weapon, and when he went away he left with the words: "though I still can't fully comprend the great art that I was shown, I managed to take a glimpse at it, if the Qing family will ever need help, the
When Lin heard about the situation, at first he found it a little strange how their family was able to survive in a world where might is right, but after hearing some history Lin understood: his family never moved away from their ancestral home and whoever conquered the land would be their client.
But what would happen to the kingdom or empire that would conquer them? They would start to arm their armies with superior weapons and armors... this should be good, but would the other powers just sit and watch? Nope, they would ally and take down the too powerful enemy.
After some reiterations of the same situation, the empires learned that in order to last they should not conquer that land, as for why they didn't esterminate the Qing family? They had too many favours owned to them by powerful sects around the world.
Once another kingdom tried to kidnap a meember of the Qing family... after 2 days the ruling family and all the nobles implicated of that kingdom disappeared and the Lin family member safely returned to the clan.
As for why the sect didn't rob them of their forging method? Somehow only the Qing family members could learn and develop the technique, it had something to do with the bloodline; however the members of their family were never able to form a dantian.
What's more, if one sect made a move in order to recruit and monopolize the Qing family, all the other sect would come together and deal with it. After a few tries from different sects, it was decided that no one could touch their family and every sect would seldom send their craftmen to watch their forging methods and gain insights.
This way the Qing family became an effective Island of peace.
Though Lin understood how his family was able to survive, he had still many doubts on various things, but for now he could only wait to grow up or that his mother would talk about their situation some more.
----------------------------------------
During the 2nd year of Lin's life, his parents finally understood that something was wrong; their son was always sickly and had a hard time in order to learn how to walk and do the most basic movements... though he did learn how to talk faster than any other children.
His intelligence had been a reason of happiness for their family until they finally called a doctor.
When the doctor took a look at the child body, he paled when he found that more or less everything inside the child's body was being destroyed and rebuilt at an amazing speed... fortunately the speed t which the body was being repaired outstripped the one at which it was being teared down.

-How is this child not screaming from the pain? No, how is he still alive? Not even the most powerful cultivator would want to go through the pain this child is experiencing every second, they would rather suicide-
The doctor tried to smile and confort the child: "from when did you start experiencing this pain?"
Lin tilted his head to think about the answer or like he didn't understand the question: "Is it not supposed to hurt?"
That answer made everyone in the room freeze.
Lin's parents didn't understand what was wrong or how much pain was he suffering from, they only understood that their baby was suffering ever since he could remember and for him it was strange to not hurt... and they never knew!
They were so happy when their son was suffering, they didn't deserve to be called parents; their guilt was already sky high.
"We should talk about it in another room" said the doctor while leaving Lin in his bed.
Lin's parent followed him outside... this however did not stop him from hearing what they were talking about; thanks to his new body undergoing the tempering every sense was being refined to impossible degrees.
Only based in perception and the 5 senses he could already be compared to an early immortal, so he could easily hear his parents.
"Honored doctor, which illness does our son have, is it deadly?" though Lin's parents didn't understand the situation, they understood that it was something grave from the Doctor's reaction when he visited their son.
The doctor had a serious and solemn look on his face: "frankly speaking, based on what I saw... your son should be long dead. His own body is killing and saving him continuosly and fortunately the speed at which his body is repairing itself is faster than the speed at which his body is destroying itself"
Lin's parents didn't understand the underlying meaning: "so everything is good then? I thought he was going to die, but if it's as you said, then he'll be able to live"
Though Lin's mother said it, she already realized what his son was going through and started to cry.
"Is there a way to cure him?" asked Lin's father, but the doctor shook his head; "As you know, in this world if I declare myself as the number 2 in the healing field, no one would dare say they're number 1... and I can't cure his illness. Your only hope is that little Lin can hold on until 8 years old and start cultivating, that way his body would grow more resistant and hopefully become too powerful for the illness to destroy his body"
As the doctor said, Lin's parents had called in a favour in order to call the best immortal expert in the healing field and he had to come in order to give face and deepen his sect relationship with the Qing family, what's more it was the son of the patrarch that needed help.
But who would have thought that even him could do nothing at all? Once his diagnosis was made there was no use in calling others.
After sending the expert off, Lin's parents went to cuddle him, they also asked forgiveness for never noticing his situation.
Lin spent two days reassuring them that he could now resist the pain, he only needed to work on his motoric functions such as running some more and pass a lot of time in the bed.
Actually, that was half an excuse in order to cultivate more often... he already reached the high earth tier darkness spirit root, while the other spirit roots were at the middle earth tier. The gap would only grow with time, but he could do nothing about it.
He also needed to start making a triple seal in order to later fool the world... he also needed to get started in getting his body accustomed to various techniques.
Only six year of forging remained and Lin would mold his body as much as possible in this time.
