The new dark sovereign
3- The Dao of darkness

3- The Dao of darkness

"WHY?" roared the Dark sovereign.

"I watched you since when you were a kid, I saw you getting betrayed, humiliated, hit; I saw you suffer and I saw you cry, then why even after everything you went through you can still smile from the bottom of your heart? How can you still forgive even in your death, how come your soul is still so pure?"

The Dark sovereign's pent up frustation gushed out without stopping: "They lied, they betrayed, they hurt you, and even then, never once did you desire vengance, you always kept forgiving them time and time again; even I, the sovereign of Darkness felt pity and anger while watching your life... both feeling I did not felt for the last 20 trillions of years".

Though harsh words were being trown at her, the girl could feel the warmness in them... this only increased the Dark sovereingn's rage, how could a girl be so passive?

"Speak, I want to hear your reason, it's because of that that I bringed you here".

The girl could only show her heartfelt smile and answer: "It's because this is my nature, I know that there is something wrong with me, but I could never bring myself to dislike anyone, not to mention hate"

The woman loked straight at the being in front of her; she could feel that he was someone omnipotent and his look matched that feeling, she could also feel a sense of familiarity with him, the same that she had when she was alone in the dark.

She felt safe.

And she felt his loneliness; like the darkness that one can find everywhere... a weak darkness who had no purpose, different from the usual one which felt warm.

"For you it may sound strange, but I don't even know how does it feel to dislike someone, I'm different from you" the girl heartfelt smile became one of self-mocking: "you govern the most powerful element, while I can only use the weakest of them".

The sovereign started laughing: "The weakest element? Don't you know the relationship between elements? The five elements counter and aid each other, meanwhile light and darkness govern them while endangering each other".

At this moment the girl smiled once again, while looking at the Dark sovereign with pity... this look of hers angered him to no end, but then she asked: "do you really think so?"

When was the last time someone questioned his knowledge? The sovereign could not remember. What's more, she did so while looking as if he was a child who still had not understood the world.

This scene would not be so strange if one of the two part wasn't the Dark sovereign who had immeasurable power and comprended a complete Dao.

Then she asked: "Have you ever watched a candle during the night? Doesn't it seem that the darkness surrounding it is denser, thicker than where there is only darkness?"

The Dark sovereign didn't even need to think about it: "sure, that's because the darkness is trying to devour the light, while the light tries to fight back"

The girl chuckled: "so you see it like that? But what I see is completely different: I always tought that the darkness embraced the light, protecting it from everything else"

Those word shut up the sovereign, letting him think: -how come that what she sees is completely opposite from what I see when we look at the same thing? Why?-

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

"Why do you say that the light is the weakest element?"

"Because it is, in this universe light alone cannot exist, it is always the byproduct of another element; as I see it light is what other elements use to resist darkness, and this will never change... maybe it's because of that that I always ended up being lied to and used by others" said the girl.

The sovereign stopped to reflect on what the girl just said: -Such a strange way to see the relationship between elements... I can't say if it's beatiful or simply sad; however it's wrong-

"It's impossible that what you say is right, I always had a more difficult time while trying to kill ligh-Qi immortals and saint beasts; this is a fact"

-Why is she looking at me with those eyes again?- tought the Dark sovereign, then she started to talk: "the darkness is meant to protect the light, it was never meant to suppress the light. Because of that when you tried to kill someone with the light affinity your own element tried to stop you from doing it"

-This... could it be that I was wrong all along?-

"No, you are not wrong in your path, but from my viewpoint the path you have chosen is the weakest one of the dark paths; the dark element is the strongest element, one that can't be bothered to interact with other element. Just by existing the dark element subdue every other element, but when the dark element finds the light it wants to protect... the other elements shouldn't even think about harming that light"

Without even noticing it, the brightness coming from the soul of the girl increased: "just like the darkness around the candle is thicker, so it is the one around a campfire, same thing with the sun. I can feel it... my darkness was you, but because of your path you were too weak to protect me-

With a smile, the brightness around the girl increased even more and with it the darkness around her: "though I'm a bit hopeless, I promise to become your light again if there is a next life, so I really hope that you'll become strong enough to protect me... my darkness"

With those words the soul disappeared, he could not keep her with him any longer so he let her soul go in the reincarnation circle while still being stunned from her words.

-Am I really that weak?-

At that moment, a Dao seed came down from the heavens; within this Dao seed the same principles of what the girl just said were present.

"So it is really like this: there is not only one way to reach the peack of power, and diferent routes lead to different results"

In that moment in every single plane and world the countless life forms heard a laughter coming from the shadows around them; this event would be known as the hell laughter day.

-She said that I must protect her in her next life, but as I am now I can't fulfill that promise... it seems that I did not wait 20 trillions of years in vain-

Probably for the first time in his life, the Dark sovereign had a smile on his face and was rather eager to do something: -I must make some preparations for my reincarnation-
