We ran into one more of the older children, and this time I just took the less lazy and uncomfortable route of cutting it’s head off. By the time we got to the mother’s room, it was clear why we hadn’t heard any of the fighting. The door was hard to open because it was covered in webs. Paeris had to burn them, while Lefty cut, and I pulled on the doors.
The sounds of the fight happening inside must’ve been deadened by the webs. Once inside we saw that it was completely covered in the stuff. Paeris cleared a spot on the floor for us to stand. If it wasn’t for the gaping hole in the roof, I would’ve wondered how any spiders even got inside this room in the first place.
It looked like Dodger and Mezu were having fun fighting, well Dodger was having fun and Mezu was just trying to get rid of a bug.
“Do you want to cut an arm now or later?” Paeris asked.
“Oh, now works. Should do a leg too.”
“Yup.”
He cleared some more floor space and then wrapped my arm when I cut it, and then my leg. He then put a bubble of water on each cut end of my limbs. Both me and Lefty titled our heads at that.
“I’ve gotten used it things by know, and I know that he likes to suck on the ends.” He gaged a bit making me laugh.
“Sure, you’ve gotten used to it.”
“I haven’t thrown up in a while, anyway, the water will make sure it doesn’t lose all the blood.”
“You’re making his food taste better?” Sailhin asked coming over with Dot.
“Look, he’s making this floor easy for us, why shouldn’t I give the little guy a reward?”
If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.
Dot laughed, “I thought your stuck-up ass wouldn’t’ve been so nice to a kid that likes the taste of half elf.”
“Once you look past that, it’s not that hard to find him cute.”
“We all know that you’re just the last one I thought it’d take you longer than that.”
“I’m sure it would’ve taken you a bit to get used to if he liked dwarf instead of half elf.”
I smiled softly as Dot laughed at the thought. This type of arguing was better than what Lefty and Paeris had done. It was more familiar to me.
When Fluffy and Dodger finished, the spider dropped to the floor, and he ran over to me quickly. Dot tossed him my arm trying to see how he’d catch it.
He leapt up and caught it with his mouth instead of his hands. Then he grabbed it and started eating quickly.
A ding rang out, and the congratulations banner showed itself. And before we started teleporting, Mezu already had his mouth wrapped around the end of my leg.
We waited for the next day to bother climbing since when we had gotten back it was clear that the last floor had still taken most of the day to complete. Well, that and having to wait until my limbs healed.
I made sure to feed him well at night, and half an arm when we got up. Then once I was mostly healed, we stepped onto the next floor.
It didn’t take long for me to notice something was different. I was used to us being separated and occasionally not ending up with Fluffy, but this time it was just Fluffy and Brick who weren’t with us.
That wasn’t the only thing that was out of the ordinary. The room we were in was strange, it looked like any ordinary room. Given the fact that we were normally in some decrepit or weird building for these floors, this being the complete opposite of that meant the challenge would probably be something completely new too.
There was a ding.
