Paeris turned and pointed his bow back down the hallway. His muttering lasted for much longer this time and a red arrow formed on his bow. I glanced back to the crater and saw all the earth mana in the room activate. They collected together forming two large hands that followed Dot’s own movements.
She gripped the air in front of her, and the hands grabbed onto the crystal. The grip tightened and the crystal began to crack.
I heard the elvish stop and then felt the heat near me swell. The arrow was set loose and flew back up the tunnel we had gone down. The next quake I felt was much larger than the last few. The crystal shattered.
The dolls that Sailhin and Lefty were fighting collapsed to the ground and deflated.
The banner reappeared.

Completion Progress:
Adventurers found 6/6
Belongings collected 6/6
Dolls destroyed 257
Mansion destruction 75%
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Both the percentage and the doll total kept increasing one by one as the seconds passed and then the Mansion destruction percentage was completed.
There was a ding.
Congratulations on completing the 26th floor.
The world dismantled itself around us and a door appeared in the void. I was alone there with Mezu and Alcoroth. Another glowing banner appeared.
Rewards will be given in the waiting room, please proceed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Rewards are calculated individually by contribution, so you won’t get anything. But you’ll be with the rest of them once we step through the door.”
“What do you think of them?”
“They won’t be dead weight; I’ll say that much.”
That was more praise than I’d gotten when I first met him so that was good. But if the system didn’t deem them as possible avatar candidates, then they wouldn’t’ve been weak. I was chosen since I could feed Mezu, the others would probably be chosen for their skills.
“Are we going to talk about the fact that they’re potential avatars?”
“Much like you were selected, they must be selected. You were selected because of the young master’s feeding situation, and possibly because of your complicated history.”
This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
That was a new reason, did it have anything to do with the interest Alcoroth had in me? Was my monarch also interested in it?
“As we go along, if a monarch wants to choose, they will evaluate them on their own and make a decision. Only when they are chosen will I be able to speak with them. It would be best if the decision was made at the same time that way, I can discuss the situation with everyone together not all at once, instead of having to explain to them separately.”
“Explain what? You’ve barely explained anything to me.”
“You say that as if you actually have any interest in the situation,” he scoffed.
He raised his eyebrow though when I didn’t say anything to counter his suggestion.
“You’re interested.”
“I won’t say I’m not slightly curious, and you’re saying more than I’d expect you to say. Knowing that it wasn’t just because Fluffy found me tasty that I was chosen, is new, so I can’t say I’m not interested in the other reason. Though now that I think about it, how much knowing would change anything doesn’t make me overly eager to know.”
“Well, that interest lasted longer than expected. Let’s head off, it seems the information I’m able to share will only increase as we climb. We can’t keep your new friends waiting.”
The door was standing there open and Mezu ran over to it. I followed him and we stepped into a living room with a high ceiling. There was a sizeable fireplace set in the opposing wall, and the stone chimney, which was a different stone layout than the walls, climbed up into the ceiling.
A set of stairs leading up to somewhere was to the left. On the right, there were two doors. One was wooden and looked like it fit the environment and the one to the right of it were the now familiar elevator doors. The room had a small collection of couches, armchairs set in a half circle around a table near the fireplace. There was a table with three chairs a bit further away, but it had a desk lamp on it.
Overall, with the amount of space, there was, there weren’t many things to fill the room up it felt like the bare minimum was placed. The room was lit up softly by both the chandelier hanging from the ceiling and the fireplace. There were windows set in the wall that had the doors, and even though there were curtains, the light that came through the edges of the fabric showed that it was probably late afternoon outside.
“Well, this is new,” Paeris said stepping out of his own door “I’m so used to that odd void between floors.”
With the habitual ding, a banner appeared.

Welcome to the improved recovery quarters.
In between each floor, you have been given a more comfortable place to rest. There are rooms upstairs and a stocked kitchen behind you. Downstairs there is a small sparring room. The outside is not currently accessible. As you climb your quarters will be upgraded slightly and the maximum resting period will be extended.
The current maximum is 2 days. Once the maximum time has been reached, you will begin the next floor regardless of how prepared you are.
You have been registered as a party, and this is your designated resting place. No other party will have access. Should you wish to store items here, you may, but you must retrieve these before starting the 40th floor as you will not return here afterward.
Should you wish to return to the 21st floor, please enter the elevator to your right. If an individual wishes to climb with a different party, they must return to the 21st floor and restart from the 26th floor no matter how far you have climbed.
If a member leaves, the entire party must restart from the 26th floor. To prevent people from abusing this system, all party members must agree to unregister. If the party becomes unregistered this room shall disappear with anything inside of it.
When you wish to continue enter through the door to your right.
Enjoy your stay.

Now, on the wooden door that seemed to fit in place, there was a glowing panel.

Enter the 27th floor?
Yes or No

“Let’s not stay here too long, that floor was way too short.”
Dodger plunked herself down on the couch putting her feet up on the table.
“I’m quite excited you have a Goliath in your party, we will learn quite a bit about them.”
Alcoroth’s eagerness wasn’t completely shared with me. Having another weird and noticeable thing about me wouldn’t be great but, I couldn’t deny wanting to know.
“Don’t speak for the rest of us, I want to recharge a bit,” Dot grumbled.
“Recharge? Aren’t you always boasting about the amount of mana you’ve got?”
“Yeah, and that large amount of mana let me destroy the core on my own, normally you’d need at least two or three people to help out with the mana supply. Not that a muscle headed aura using idiot would know that!”
Dodger laughed, “Dwarves are quite fun to be around, humans can never throw anything back at me.”
Brick sat down next to her a soft smile on his face. Mezu wandered away from my side over to him staring at him intently.
“Let’s take this time to actually talk a bit and give Dot some time to recharge. You’ll have plenty of things to fight on the next few floors, well especially the next one.”
Sailhin pulled sat in one of the armchairs, and soon the rest of them took their own seats.
