Continuing the Journey

Continuing the Journey

I set forth from the village of Eldenwald, accompanied by the heartfelt blessings of my mother and two brothers. Following my usual itinerary, I embarked on a series of journeys, traversing smaller cities and villages. At each destination, I stayed for a span of 3-4 days, conducting my trade and engaging with the local guilds.

Occasionally, I extended my stay beyond 6 days, enticed by invitations to parties hosted by my esteemed patrons, all in the pursuit of expanding my network. Was it challenging? Not truly. In fact, I found great pleasure in immersing myself in the tales spun by my patrons. Admittedly, some narratives were adorned with embellishments and exaggerations, yet I resisted the temptation to refute the inconsistencies woven within their stories.

Sometimes, fortuitously, I crossed paths with fellow adventurers who shared the same destination as mine, and we formed a convoy to travel together. On occasions, I availed myself of their services to ensure my safety during perilous journeys undertaken to fulfill specific requests from my patrons. These quests often involved searching for rare medicinal herbs that thrived in goblin-infested lands or procuring special ores and mana-infused crystals for their arcane research. Due to the inherent dangers involved, the prices for such requests were considerably higher compared to my regular trade goods.

My trade goods mainly consist of essential provisions needed for daily life: grains, spices, cookware, clothing, jewelry, books, and scrolls, among others. I am fortunate enough to acquire rare and enchanting items, but I ensure their numbers are small enough to fit safely within my bag. It is common knowledge that traveling with too many valuable goods can attract the attention of thieves and burglars, no matter how short the distance between bustling cities or quiet hamlets.

My carriage may not be as grand as those of the wealthy merchants, but it serves me well as it draws less unwanted attention from the scoundrels that lurk in the shadows. Nevertheless, I am aware that when delivering to patrons in remote areas, there may be occasional delays, which I make sure to inform them of in advance. Therefore, my success hinges on the trust placed in me by my clients, and I have built my wealth by swiftly traversing short distances and ensuring prompt deliveries.

As the sun waned, I at last reached the towering gates of Vermina, the grand Capital City.
