Council hearing started with the reading of the issue brought forth for consideration - that Ktak's children were born due to practices of reproduction the Tamare were banned to use and that some Tamare, namely Ktak's brood-mother, K-maran, was still using illicit reproduction practices as evicenced by existence of Ktak herself. The lawyers common defence demolished the first argument quickly and Ktak individually was off the hook, however defending Ktak's brood-mother turned out to be much harder task.
Ktak had not suspected that her elopment could get her brood in trouble and was now desperately searching how to prove her brood-mother's actions were honorable. Things were looking very grim indeed when suddenly a human, accompanied by no other than Investigator Oran entered the Council hall and requested to submit evidence relevant to the case.
The human introduced himself as Simeon Matk, blood relation of Jonas Matk, sire of Commander Ktak and grandfather of Klia and Kleo Storm. Ktak was startled. She knew the name, Mother had always spoken of him by this name.
First piece of evidence he entered was a voice recording. Ktak's eyes welled with tears when she heard the whispering voice.
"Mother..." she whispered and sought out Ames's hand.
The recording was clearly recorded in many pieces, couple minutes at a time as she told the story of Jonas.
Jonas had been brought to Tamare by another brood. A very powerful one. Tamare law even then forbade forcing donations from other species but they would simply not feed him if he would not confirm consent at the registry office. They treated him like a slave and benefited on his expense. He ran away multiple times, but other broods afraid to cross the powerful ones returned him to them. One day, Jonas, sick, starving, beaten and barely alive because so much blood had been taken from him, that he had nothing left for himself arrived at K-maran's brood house. She welcomed him, directed her brood to feed and protect him and refused to bow to the intimidation of the powerful ones. Jonas lived in K-maran brood-house for many years, but was unwell in is mind. One day he left the brood-house and never returned. He had given one last donation for K-maran and taken his own life at the registry steps. Jonas was buried by K-maran's brood in their brood-groove.

When the recording ended the human presented some more evidence from Tamre archives to corroborate her story. The other brood, M-taran, had tried to claim K-maran's gift by insiting that Jonas was one of theirs but Tamare law did not recoginze the claim as he had no relation to their brood-mother. Jonas's public death turned Tamare society in general against such slave trade and while it did continue for a while undeground no other human fallen victim to it was brought on Tamare and consents were simply forged untill Council decree came in effect forcing Tamare to stop the corruption that allowed it. The attempt to challenge the gift on basis of "owning" Jonas was on public record and had played a significant role in turning the public opinion against M-taran's reign.
His evidence provided without a doubt that perhaps only truly ethicaly conceived Tamare-human hybrids in existence were Ktak and her brood-sister and K-maran brood was not to blame for the situation of humans among Tamare.
When Investigator Oran requested to present evidence as well, both Ames and Ktak wondered what he could have to add.
