The Genetic Heroes - Part 2: Martin
Dars School: Martin's Parents

Dars School: Martin's Parents

I was in my room reading a book where I began to study for my next text, which was all in french. I was lying in my bed and it was early morning when suddenly, I received a knock on my door. I groaned as I got up from my bed and walked towards the door where I had opened it. I opened it and it was Leah.

“Leah?” I asked.

“Martin.” says Leah. “Follow me to the lobby.”

“Okay?”

She grabbed my hand and led me down the stairs and out of the dorm room. The wind outside breezed as we walked to the DARS school lobby. I headed there and noticed my PARENTS there.

“Martin,” says my parents.

“Bonjour.” I said. My mom had long brown hair and had brown eyes and my father had red hair and red freckles. They wore trench coat like jackets.

“Wow.” my mom said. “You managed to pick up some french.”

“Guys.” I said. “I am sorry. I shouldn’t have treated you guys badly earlier in the subway. This place is great.”

“Oh really?” asks my dad. “We thought you hated it here, so we went to take you home.”

“Whaat?” I said.

“Wait, Martin, you’re leaving?” asked Leah.

“No.” I said. “I am not.”

I turned to my parents.

“I want to finish a year here and then I can transfer back to Onoda for the rest of my schooling.” I said. “I want to stay with Leah.”

“Ohhhh.” says my dad. “You’ve grown up.”

“DAD!!!!”

Everyone but me snickered and my parents headed for the door as I waved to them. My parents turned around and went back to the car where someone was going to drive them back to their hotel. It wasn’t Charlie.

“Leah.” I asked. “Where is Charlie?”

“Charlie?” she asked. She put her finger on her lip. “Probably somewhere doing AGENT stuff.”

Talking about AGENT reminded me of Jordan. I HAD to call him back.

“Let’s call my friend Jordan?”

“Face time?” she asked.

I nod. The two headed back to my room where we sat on the bed. I pulled a book from one of the shelves and it was green and shiny. I then took my phone and leaned it against the book, which had been placed on the bed. I opened my phone and called Jordan on facetime. The ringing began.

“Pick up. Pick up!” I said. Suddenly, the calling screen vanished and Jordan’s face was visible on the face time. He was in his room, probably sitting at desk.

“Hey Martin,” says Jordan.

“Hey Jordan.” I said. “What’s up?”

“I heard on the news that there was an airship crash in Paris. Was that you?”

“Why do you think that?” I ask,

“Sounds like something you’d do.” he said ro me back. He then glanced at Leah.

“Who’s the girl?” asks Jordan.

“This is Leah, my girlfriend.”

“I called it.” Jordan said snickering. “I called it.”

“Called what?” asks Leah.

“It’s a story for another time.” I said. “Do you know what Phantom is?”

“Phantom.” says Jordan. “No idea.”

I nod. I turn to Leah.

“It’s a shady organisation that's trying to collect relics to gain immense power. I mean, they already have soldiers and the tech.” says Leah.

“Wait.” says Jordan. “So you two broke into an airship?”

“It was because I was kidnapped.” says Leah. “It’s a long story okay!”

“The summarising,” I said. “Is that this organisation tried take Leah and take my powers.”

“So the organisation is after people with powers, like Aldair Storm? Wait, did you JUST SAY YOU HAVE POWERS!?!?!”

“We both have light powers,” says Leah. The two of us flexed our powers by lighting the air around us with the tip of our palms.

“Okay. Okay.” says Jordan. “You are not flexing anything.”

“Yeah.” says Nova in my head. “Are you seriously using my powers to flex on your friend right now? You don’t have any other better uses for my power?”

“No.” I said snickering back.

“One more thing.” says Leah. “Whoever they want to bring back from the dead with those relics, is, quote, bad news, by an elemental spirit.”

“Elemental spirit?!??” Jordan said. “Come on guys?! I am so confused!!!!”

“The tech developed for Phantom is by a man named George Varnie.” I said.

“Varnie.” Jordan says. “Sounds like-”

“Barney.” We all said at the same time. We then laughed.

“So Martin.” Jordan says. “You coming back to Onoda? Eric and I missed you.”

“No. I will be gone for a year.” I said.

“Oh.” says Jordan. “Have fun with Leah then. See ya.”

He closes the call and his face vanishes from the phone screen.
