I was at my house and putting on some clothes and wore a party buttoned white shirt and some blue jeans to go along with it. I grabbed my phone and other things I needed and I left my house. I had told my Mom and Dad previously so I figured they weren’t gonna be bothered. I went to my closet and grabbed a jacket and I walked down the snowy sidewalk at 6 PM and then when reaching an intersection, I turned to the right, where Mentos Way is to find her home. It was really dark and even a full moon. Everything was white and covered in snow or ice. I walked over to find Eric at the house waiting for me.
“Hey man.” I said.
“Let’s head inside.” says Eric, looking like an excited chipmunk. I walked towards the home, walked up the steps and headed inside and all of the music was playing. From the outside, her house was a rich white and gray modern mansion that had a pool and three floors for her and her family. Inside was where everyone was, the living room that had a TV, drinks and food, a DJ, etc. I had never been to a party so I had no idea what to expect from this experience. Eric was a massive genius but like me, had very little to no social knowledge. Socially, I think that I am better than Eric. We found Avery chatting to her friends and she turned to see us.
“Jordan and nerd.” she says.
“Eric.” says Eric.
“So glad that you came.” she said, smiling as all of her friends turned to us. “There are lots of drinks and food and games so go have fun.”
“Alright.” says Eric. The two of us walk away and Eric turns to me.
“Does Avery have a boyfriend?” he asks. “I cannot remember.”
“Bro.” I said. “Let’s try to have fun here. Stop talking about Avery, PLEASE!”
“Alright. Alright.”
We went over to the drinks table which was a bunch of drink dispensers placed on a brown table. Someone was trying to get some soda. It was this guy who clearly looked stupid as he was unable to make the machine dispense some of its Coke. He was holding his cup right under the machine. I came over.
“Hey man?” I ask.
“This machine doesn’t work,” he says.
“It doesn’t?” I ask. I put my hand on the machine and it freezes the Coke! I looked and realized very quickly what I had done. I would be in so much trouble if anyone found out. The stupid guy was still trying to dispense the Coke and now, instead of one or two drops, there was 0 coke coming out.
“Hey.” he asks. “What did you do?”
I stumble as I walk and a boy puts his foot out and I trip into a small table. The boy speeds off to the stairs. The pizza slice falls on my face and everyone laughs. Eric, not wanting to be embarrassed and walked towards Avery. If I had to guess, he was probably gonna try to flirt with her. The broken brown table lays on the ground as everyone in the party laughs at me. I saw at the back was Martin with a devilish grin. HE DID THIS.
I ran away from the mess after everyone began to scream at me to clean it up and Martin ran up the stairs and I was behind him in hot pursuit. I started to push everyone I ran by and they all dropped food, tripped and fell and yelled at me more. I chased Martin up the stairs and into a bathroom where he jumped in the tub and hid from me. I looked to find him and I grabbed him by the throat.
“Why did you do that?” I yell.

“Let me go.” says Martin.
“Why?” I ask.
“Your face looks like a giant pizza,” he says. “Look at the toppings on your face.”
“You think everything is a joke, huh?” I said.
“What? Did I embarrass you in front of your crush or something.” he asks.
“I don’t have a crush.” I said.
“Why don’t you get it?” he asks. “I saved you from these rich snobs.”
I put down his throat as he collapsed in the bathtub. This bathroom was really big and had crystal white floors and walls. There were some plants inside of the room as well as the toilet being crystal clean as well. The sink had twenty different kinds of toothpaste. Martin started to catch his breath.
“Avery originally invited you to the party so that my brother, Billy, could beat you in revenge with everyone popular in the school watching.” says Martin. “By embarrassing you and forcing you to come here, you don’t have to fight Billy.”
“You’re lying. Avery is a good person, she invited us to the party-”
“Jordan,” says Martin. “You need to listen to me. I don’t know what you pulled against Billy, but I don’t want him getting hurt again. I may look and act like a clown, but I am not stupid and neither are you.”
I stay silent for a bit and do the unthinkable. I believe him.
“Alright.” I said. “I believe you. I won’t hurt your brother. Unless you tell him to stop bullying students in the halls.”
I touched the walls and it froze instantly. Martin was shocked.
“Ice.”
“Ice?”
“Isn’t it obvious? You have ice powers.” says Martin. “I read about heroes like that in comics. As well as watched movies. With your powers, we could pull so many pranks.”
“I am a nice student.” I said. “I don’t pull pranks.”
“Fine,” says Martin. “After I help you get out of this mess, I will be inviting you for pranks during school tomorrow.”
“What if I don’t want to do the pranks?” I ask.
“If you refuse,” he says. “Then I will tell Billy that you ran off because you’re a pink booty monkey.”
I imagined the red butt monkeys, which I hate by the way and agreed to his conditions.
“Fine.” I replied. “But, let’s get my friend Eric out of this party too.”
“Fine. We can save your nerdy friend.” he says.
“Why does everyone call him nerdy?” I ask.
“Habit, I guess.” he shrugs. I pull out my phone and dial Eric. Eric was at the party trying to fit in when he came over to Avery with a drink in his hand.
“Hey Eric?” she asks. “What’s up?”
Eric tries to speak and he looks away and starts to speak.
“I think you’re pretty,” he says. “I’ve had the biggest crush on you and-”
His phone rings.
“Better pick up that phone.” says Avery. Eric reached into his pocket and answered my call.
“Hey Jordan.” says Eric on the phone.
“Eric. We need to leave now, Martin told me that this was all a set up by Avery to see another fight between me and Billy. Martin told me that he didn’t want his brother getting hurt.” I said.
“That’s ridiculous.” says Eric. “Avery is really nice. There is no way she’d-”
Someone with massive muscles arrived and he was looking for someone. It was Billy.
“Billy,” says Avery.
“Hey babe.” he says as she kisses him on the cheek. Eric shatters into pieces on the insides with his mouth wide open.
“ERIC! ERIC!” I say on the phone.
“Hey where is Jordan?” asks Avery. She walks over to Eric and he is still on the call.
“Billy is here,” he says.
“Eric.” says Avery. “Mind telling me where Jordan is?”
“So I can smash his face open,” says Billy, chuckling.
“He’s….” says Eric. “Uhh.”
Avery kisses him on the cheek.
“He’s upstairs.” says Eric.
“You moron.” I scream through the phone as I close the call.
“What did he do now?” asks Martin.
“He told Avery I was here,” I said.
“We are leaving him.” says Martin. “Luckily, because my brother is Avery’s boyfriend, I’ve been to this house a couple of times. There are two staircases and we just have to take the ones that Billy and Avery don’t go to.”
“I took the one at the end when I was after you.” I said. “I saw one closer to the party, but you ran up to the other one.” I said. “Then again, everyone saw me go up here and may go up here. The other staircase!”
“Alright.” says Martin as we walk across the halls to the other dark brown and white staircase. We tiptoe down and everyone in the party sees us two as Billy and Avery walk up the staircase that was away from the party. Eric sees us and we head for the exit and never look back.
“Eric,” Martin said. “You almost screwed us.”
“Yeah. We get you like that girl, but giving away our location. Low blow.” I said.
“It doesn’t matter. I got a kiss from her.” he says grinning.
“Argh!” I yell. We all go our separate ways through the dark night with snow and head for our homes.
