Chapter 19: Punishment

Chapter 19: Punishment

More than half of the building was damaged and it’d be a surprise if what was remaining didn’t just collapse over. It looked as if someone had taken a large bite from it and refused to finish the rest of it.

Some of the students were crying from all of the destruction while the teachers remained stoic. This was just another lesson on why magic was so dangerous and how life-changing it could be. This was one of the reasons why Terra was always on the defensive.

Claire closed her eyes for a moment before taking a deep breath. Half a minute later she was shown with a slight smile on her face.

“What happened!? What did they do to my poor baby!?” Alex’s mom complained, a series of tears sliding down her face.

“Calm down, we don’t know what happened yet. All we can do now is wait.”

As if on cue more rubble started to fall from the building as a hand was shown emerging from within the pile of debris. The hand rested on somewhere along the mess before pulling his body up from underneath it.

“God that wasn’t fun at all,” Junji said while coughing up smoke from his lungs.

Afterward, Isaac and Grey could be seen from the mess as well in fine condition other than the traces of dirt and smoke covering their bodies.

“That was a close one, Grey. You really saved us back there.” Isaac assured her.

Grey remained quiet and simply shook her head at Isaac.

“Yeah, we would have been flat as a pancake if she didn’t protect us. Her magic surely is resourceful. Can’t say the same about that guy though.”

Speaking of Alex… he was nowhere to be found within the pile of rubble. Would he have even been able to survive that? Even if his magical abilities were different from what was known it seemed highly unlikely.

Of course, the mother was making a huge scene crying her heart out and already expecting the worst of things. Claire tried to calm her down, but that only made things worse.

Eventually, the authorities were involved and decided that the woman would be taken in for questioning and was never heard from again. It took some mild interrogating to get the truth from the gang and with that knowledge being given to them the mother would be spending a long time in jail. She may never see the sun again.

Days later after lengthy searches for Alex, he was found within the rubble and was quickly presumed deceased. It was a huge loss on that day. Not only were lives lost, but so was information. Such a thing was unheard of when it came to magical abilities and now Terra wouldn’t have the chance to research it.
