Chapter 17: Hopeless

Chapter 17: Hopeless

Classes were packed as usual. Students sat at their desk while taking notes in their books, well the smart students did anyways. Others, however, seemed to not pay any attention to the lecture at hand.

Today’s class of principles of magic was an elective. It was for those who were interested in the process of mana consumption and conjuring. Also mandatory for those who wanted to head over to the Seer Academy.

“As you all know mana is the world’s life force. When it’s all used up the person dies regardless of how much blood is in their body.”

Alex was absent-minded today. Normally he’d be eating this stuff up, but today he was just so distant. He had a lot of shit on his mind and things just weren’t the same anymore. His passion for being a Seer was all but gone.

I’m tired of this… this life. I want something new.

The truth is… Alex has recently discovered that he is able to use magic. But, it’s something he’s never seen before. He’s had some time to research various kinds of magic around Terra ranging from the basic elements to mental categories. His, however, didn’t fit into any of the previous lists.

Once he released he was capable of using magic his way of thinking changed. His desire to become a Seer faded and the only thing he wanted was to…

Destroy.

It awakened a rage laid dormant in him for a while. For a while now people picked on him because he was too optimistic. He believed that he could stop the war if he only tried hard enough but they spat in his face and told him he couldn’t do it. He wasn’t good enough.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

The school bell rung, alerted the teacher to dismiss class and pretty soon everyone was in a hurry to leave not wasting a precious second. Some students stayed behind to talk about class and what not.

Alex, on the other hand, took a stand and proceeded to exit the classroom. The halls were a bloody mess littered with students of all sizes and nationality. There was nothing left for him to do but head to his next class.

“Alex! Is that you!?”

His name being called got his attention and pretty soon he turned around and saw that it was none other than…

“It is you! Tell me where the hell is Connor!?”

“Connor… I don’t know. Why would I know?”

This was Adam… just one of many of the bullies who tormented him and shattered his confidence. His best friend was the douchebag known as Connor who had a history of cheating on his girlfriends.

“Don’t bullshit me. The last thing Connor texted me was that he was going to beat your ass! After that, I never heard from him again!” Adam was filled with rage, grabbing Alex by the shirt to lift him into the air.

The truth is… Connor approached me on my way to the store and that’s when… I killed him…

“I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

“Maybe a few bruises will help you remember, bitch!”

This started a big traffic jam in the halls, students were stopping to watch the encounter, but no one was saying anything. This was pretty common for them, but something was a bit different. There was more intensity to this situation. More feeling.

I killed him… and it felt…

Adam clenched his fist and was preparing to sock Alex right in the face until he heard a deep voice call out to him.

“What do you think you’re doing to your classmate? You’ll have a month worth of detention if you don’t put him down this moment.”

A teacher’s word was law. Adam had no other choice but to obey, sitting Alex down in a rush before clenching his teeth in a fit.

“This is not the behavior our school promotes. Have you no shame? Are you alright, Alex?” The teacher said as he walked over to the two. He could see the conflict within the bullied student’s eyes and it couldn’t help but make him feel bad.

“GOOD!” Alex shouted randomly.

“Excuse me, my boy?” The teacher questioned.

Alex didn’t answer, but instead, there was a large wave of energy, purple in color, which engulfed the entire hall area. The people surrounded were engulfed in this thick miasma which reeked of hatred. Nothing else was heard but their screams.
