POV Assistant Guild Master Leonos Vasir
It had been a hectic few days at the Port Kivalina adventurers guild. The man was well known to the guild as the leader of the scavenger group that found and touched the rune ria stone that gave the two guilds significant headaches.
The rune ria stone became a problem and sent up the chain of leadership until it became a political nightmare.
Andrissus had come walking into the guild and requested a meeting with the guild master. But, of course, the front desk teller refused, and he started to cause a fuss.
It was only when he mentioned that he thought he found a dungeon that he got rushed into guild master Weathing’s office.
It took a bit of convincing, and the finding of one of his crew members, ex-adventurer Sisiane, who testified to what they might have found.
Somewhat convinced, Weathing decided to send out two C-rank parties to the Lost Islands. Whether it was a dungeon or something magical that caused the feeling of entering into a core’s territory, it needed to be secured.
That’s how Leonos ended up on the stern of one of the two guild’s ships heading to the Lost Islands with two guild groups, the ranked-C group called the Kivalina Wanderers and the B-ranked group, the Blue Suns.
Whether it was a dungeon or an object/magical thing giving off the same feeling as a dungeon, it needs to be handled by experienced adventurers, which is the ranked-B group, and the area secured by a ranked-C group.
While contemplating the circumstances that led to him being on the ship, one of the sailors called out, “Land Ho!”
They sailed into the middle of the island chain before they anchored. Leonos gathered the two adventurer groups in front of him.
“Alright, you know the drill. There has been a report about a potential dungeon in or around that iceberg.” Leonos pointed at the iceberg between two islands stuck on the sandbank from the storm as he said this.
“The Kivalina Wanderers, you will patrol the perimeter of the territory. Keep everybody out unless the guild allows them, and report any peculiarities back to me. The Blue Suns, your job is to enter the territory and find the dungeon or object, creating the feeling of a dungeon’s territory. Go as far as you can, but be careful. I need you alive to report what you find.”
With a nod, the two adventurer groups took the majority of the dinghies on the two ships and set about their tasks.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
As the two groups left, the assistant guild master turned to the guild’s sailors, and he started preparing for whatever the Blue Suns would find.
POV Dungeon Core
The child watched as two ships, filled with humans, stopped in the middle of the five islands. Soon, multiple little boats started rowing to their territory.
Three of the dinghies, containing two people, rowed into their territory. While the rest of the dinghies started to circulate around their territory, never entering. It was like the people on those dinghies wanted to ensure nothing came out of their territory.
But their attention turned back to the group that entered the territory.
They watched as the group rowed further into their territory before stopping.
“This is definitely a dungeon’s territory.” Called out a purple-eyed man to the group.
“It definitely feels like the dungeon territories that I entered before.” Called back a woman with these black, furry, triangular appendages coming out of her head.
A young man with black symbols marked on his arm took a book from his bag and started flipping to a page. On the page was a series of linked symbols that he put his hand on and pushed something into it that made it glow a light red.
The child didn’t know what they used, but it was something that came out of his body and flowed into the page.
“There seems to be dungeon mana flowing within the surroundings. From what I can tell, it’s most likely a dungeon. And if not, we should be extremely worried.”
The purple man turned and spoke to the group. “Are we all in agreement in proceeding forward?”
The rest of the group either nodded or responded verbally.
With everybody in agreement, the child watched as they got closer and closer to their iceberg. Then, using the book page with symbols on it, the child watched as it glowed a brighter red as they got closer and became extremely bright when they found the entrance tunnel.
A woman with white hair peered up at the entrance. “How the hell are we going to fit in that?”
“Neronia, you’re the best climber. Why don’t you climb up and see if we can fit in there?” Asked the purple-eyed man.
The woman with black, furry, triangular ears, turned to the purple-eyed man after peering up at the tunnel in the iceberg. “If you pass me that grappling hook Divan, then I probably can. But from the looks of it, I don’t think we can easily go through the tunnel.”
Divan passed the grappling hook to Neronia, and she threw it at the tunnel. It hooked on the ice, and she gave an experimental pull before climbing up to the entrance tunnel.
She stuck the top part of her body into the tunnel and peered down. Still keeping a hold on the ice, the child pulled out of the tunnel and called down to the group.
“Ya, we’re definitely not going to be able to fit down the tunnel. It’s too tight to go through.”
She climbed back down onto one of the boats, and the man with the black symbols on his arm tore the page with glowing symbols out of his book.
“Here, Neronia, plaster the page onto the tunnel’s wall.”
Taking the page, she placed it in her pocket and climbed back up to the tunnel. She took the page and put it on the floor of the tunnel. Neronia watched as the symbols on the page shifted into a golden colour, the same colour as the child’s mana strings.
“Anes, the colours on the runes shifted from red to gold.”
Anes was silent for a couple of seconds before he responded. “Yep, the tunnel is the entrance to a dungeon.”
“How do you know?” Asked the silent group member with brown hair.
“It’s because the colour changed, Caliso. When we entered the dungeon territory, the runes activated to a red colour signifying that we entered a magical field that is similar to a dungeon’s territory. When the page was stuck in the entrance tunnel, the runes changed colour, and this type of rune inscription is commonly used to find dungeons. So the change in colour means that they came into contact with a dungeon.”
“All right,” called out Divon. “Let’s report back to the assistant guild master that it is definitely a dungeon core’s territory and that we found the dungeon.”
As the child watched the group row back out of their territory and to the two ships, they contemplated making their dungeon entrance and tunnels big enough that humans and a good amount of sentient beings could at least enter and transverse their dungeon.
