As soon as their trap became registered, the spots that they made retracting vines were outlined in the child's vision. Instinctively, the child knew that no one but themselves could see the light-glowing outlines of the traps, and they were excited to see how the traps would work out with deterring invaders and adventurers.
Speaking of adventurers, the child noticed a recent uptick in them. Mainly from the Tsiamewo, Alexis's group, and a few guys from the new ship. The farthest that any of them have reached so far is the edge of the seventh floor. And reaching it did lead to some casualties. But, the groups acted relatively respectable, even giving them some gifts in the form of live animals and seeds.
While the groups don't always do this, the groups that have been harvesting from their dungeon, particularly those belonging to Alexis, seemed to be giving small jars filled with the same types of eggs and seeds.
Over the period of time, they have gained: blue scarab beetles, transparent jellyfishes, silk-petaled kelp, rosebud crickets, pearl oysters, as well as a fossilized seed that they haven't touched yet.
As they were offered, the child quickly made them their own. Still, as this behaviour continued occurring, especially with the gathering groups, they started to think they wanted those creatures and plants to be grown within the dungeon.
And they will be, but just far from the entrance. The child was happy that they were gaining new things to play around with and use. And they didn't mind some harvesting as long as it didn't destroy the environment on each floor. But that doesn't mean that the child will make it easy to collect what they want.
So the child stored them away until they were ready to use them and continued on with finishing up the non-aquatic part of the room.
On the living island, they place low-lying bushes, moss, and flowers across the island. Allowing them to grow into an even greater living island. They also placed some of their ground living insects, brown singing frogs, and crystal dwarf spiders.
Once done, the child began their choice for the monster species. Since it was an almost fully aquatic floor, they knew that the monsters were going to need to be aquatic. They currently have seven monsters, and of those seven monsters, only four are aquatic: the ice krill, ravenous snail, engulfing algae, and sphere ice krill.
But that did not mean that their options were more limited to just those four.
The child got to work by rolling their shoulders and stretching out their arms.
Grabbing a piece of water mana, about ten centimetres long, the child began rolling out the water mana and their own mana string into a small core. Placing it within a crystal krill, the child watches the krill evolve into a monster.

The krill grew until it was 16 centimetres long, and just like how the original ice krill monsters had an ice shell, the krill's shell turned into an almost solid water barrier. The monster had a dark navy blue colouring, with transparent lines and dots sprinkling the krill's exoskeleton.
They watched as the krill swam around the room, and then the monster did something they did not expect. The krill swam to the top of the water and kept on going. As soon as they reached the water's surface, a small arc of water grew out of the water, allowing the krill to reach out through the stream.
Seeing the outcome of the water mana within a crystal krill, the child made more and more of the monster variant.
After a bit of thinking, the child decided to call their new variant the "crescent krill."
You have created a variation of an ice krill monster called "Crescent Krill."
But the child was not done yet.
Taking their mana, and a one-metre water mana string, the child rolled them into a small core before placing it within an angel snail.
The snail squirmed and shook briefly before it grew to eight centimetres. And that was not the only change. The snail's skin changed into a solid colour, but the skin was very much so, allowing the monster to camouflage into the water naturally. The rest of the snails' growth mimicked the ravenous snails almost precisely, except there were fewer hooks on the snails' tentacles.
As their new monster floated slowly in the water, they noticed that the snail's skin started to slowly produce soft but eye-catching colours in blue and pink that dimmed and glowed in a non-predictable way.
The colours that appeared throughout their skin also caught the attention of a few of the surrounding fauna.
… It was strange. The longer the child watched, the more strange it got. The few fishes that were caught by the colours seemed to be locked onto the snail. Where the snail went, the fish went. If the monster was startled, the fish would swim quickly around the monster, like a shield. But when the snail was just floating around, letting the current move them around, the colours disappeared, and the fishes scurried to different floor areas.
The child replicates monster cores and places them into more angel snails, making more of these colour-producing monsters.
Looking at them, the child decided to call them "enthralling snails."
The child hoped that the System would accept this as an acceptable variation.
And their hopes were answered.
You have created a variation of a ravenous snail monster called "Enthralling Snail."
With their new two monster variants, the child added them to the floor, along with the engulfing algae and sphere ice krill.
Congratulations! You have completed your tenth floor!
Present Creature Species: 62
Present Plant Species: 25
Present Monster Species: 4
Each floor must have a floor boss for your sub-dimension to grow.
Once again, their completion of the floor screen popped up, along with the mandatory selection of a floor boss for all of their floors.
And that got the child thinking, and after a bit, they chose the monsters they wanted to make the boss.
Even though most did not have any fighting experience, they still made their choice.
They chose an engulfing algae from the sixth floor that had survived a few brief encounters with the Tsiamewo. Though it had a couple of chunks taken out, the algae still fought well. So they took their own mana string, pierced the algae throughout its body, and pumped their golden flecks into the monster.
The algae stayed almost exactly the same, except for the roots. The roots connecting all the pieces of the algae together became stronger. But the real change was their movement claws. These movement roots grew a hard but flexible, sap-like secretion that seemed to protect the roots. The interior became hollow within these roots, allowing the monster to dig their roots into invaders and suck the blood out of them.
Congratulations! You have made the engulfing swarm your sixth-floor boss and have named it the "Blood Letting Algae."
On the seventh floor, they chose a scythe mantis as their boss monster.
As they pushed golden flecks into the mantis, the part of them paying attention to their surrounding area nudged them, telling them that something was happening.
