Chapter Thirty

POV Temporary Guild Master Leonos Vasir

It had been a hectic few weeks since Leonos arrived at the Lost Islands, and many things had changed.

With the discovery of a dungeon within a stuck iceberg, the guild master of the Port Kivalina guild had made him the temporary guild master in charge of the newfound dungeon.

Along with him being made a temporary guild master, construction on the first island was well on the way. With temporary floating establishments and land clearing to make a dungeon town already partially built, there have been more and more adventurer teams have started to trickle into the island chain from the surrounding area and have made their way to the new Lost Island dungeon town. But no one has entered the dungeon since the Blue Suns discovered a portal within the first floor.

After they reported it back to Weathing, the Port Kivalina guild master, he requested that a guild dungeon expert come look at the dungeon. And until they arrive and give the okay, no one is allowed back into the dungeon. But they are not scheduled to arrive for another week, leaving Leonos with an increasing population of adventurers and paperwork to fill out.

POV Aleessia Fariwik

Throughout the guild, there were these “experts.” Experts were people who were extremely knowledgeable or had a lot of experience in their field. Each adventurers guild had a network of experts in all kinds of matters, but most of the experts were in some way connected to dungeons.

Even most of the continent adventure guilds had a shared network of the highest-ranked experts for emergencies.

Aleessia was up there in power and knowledge about dungeons, but she didn’t qualify to be part of that network yet. Maybe in a hundred or so years, if she lived long enough, but currently, she was employed by the Togiak continent adventurer guild and was summoned for a job.

Most of the time, Aleessia was sent to look over dungeons with interesting, troubling, or just plain mad aspects to them and rank how dangerous they could be or how old they are, things like that. But this job was sent in by the Port Kivalina guild branch about a dungeon within an iceberg marooned on a sandbank within an island chain called the Lost Islands.

A B-ranked group called the Blue Suns went through the first floor of the dungeon collecting information about it, and they apparently saw a portal at the end of the floor.

Though this was not confirmed by a second party, as the temporary guild master of the area closed the dungeon off until she got there to assess it.

That was how she ended up on the bow of a ship going to the Lost Islands.

It took a couple of days on that ship, but Aleessia finally arrived on the first island on the Lost Island chain.

The ship docked on the floating part of the dungeon town, and as she walked down the plank with her luggage, she was met by a man in a white shirt and black trousers and what appeared to be an adventurer group, as they had their gear on.

“So I take it you are the temporary guild master of this island chain, Leonos Vasi?” Called out Aleessia in a tone that showed she already knew the answer.

“Yes, are you Aleessia Fariwik, the dungeon expert?”

“That’s me. Why don’t you show me my accommodations, and then we can get started.”

With that, the temporary guild master and the adventuring group showed Aleessia her accommodations, where she dropped off her luggage and got prepared for the dungeon delve.

POV Dungeon Core

The air in the third floor was only a couple of degrees warmer than the rest of their floors and even the environment outside of their iceberg. Not only was it warmer, but the significant change was how humid it was. The moisture in the air was apparent, and coupled with the mist orchid, it changed the environment of the third floor more than they expected. It was not unwanted, but they didn’t plan the third floor to be like this.

But, this told them that mana strings can affect their environment to be more like them. For example, the heat mana string only increased the temperature by a couple of degrees, but it changed the initial environment.

They set the murky brown-green mana string into circulation around the water portion of the third floor.

What would the other string do? Pondered the child, who started to imagine what they wanted their fourth floor to be.

As they imagined this, they felt a group breach into their territory.

It was the same group that had delved into their dungeon twice already, but with them was a woman with white hair, gray eyes, and a feeling of power far greater than anyone that had entered their dungeon yet.

The group made their way carefully through each room, with the women taking meticulous notes on everything.

After an hour spent wandering through their first floor, the group arrived at the portal.

“So you weren’t exaggerating after all,” said the woman.

“Why would we?!” Exclaimed Divan in outrage.

“Hey, it happens. People see things or misunderstand what they actually are, leading to situations like this where people like me are called in for situations where we are not needed.”

“Be that as it may, Ms. Fariwik, me and my group are at least experienced enough to know a dungeon portal on sight.”

“I told you to call me Aleessia, not Ms. Fariwik.” murmured the woman, Aleessia, absentmindedly as she studied the portal. She sketched and wrote down the dimensions of the portal before she called back out to the adventurer group that accompanied her.

“All right, let’s go through.”

“What?! Why?” Called out Neronia, startled at the suggestion.

“I will be able to tell much more about this dungeon once we go through it.” Said Aleessia while giving Neronia a dull look.

“Let’s go,” With that, Neronia entered through the portal, with the adventure group hesitantly following behind her.

The child watched as Aleessia studied the walls of the first room on the second floor before taking out a pair of glasses. They watched as she seemed to study their mana flow with the glasses and mark down what they saw.

The group spent a couple of hours in that one room, just watching the surroundings and being on guard for any monsters as the women took notes.

Aleessia took off her glasses, closed her book, and called out to the group. “I’m done here. Let’s head out now.”

They watched as the group went through the portal and returned through the first floor, with the occasional fighting. The women and adventuring group soon left their territory, and the child wondered at the encounter.

It seemed as though Aleessia was studying their dungeon for some reason that the child couldn’t figure out. But, as they were now out of their territory, there wasn’t anything they could do.

So they went back to coming up with ideas for the fourth floor and waiting to see what the brown-green mana string would do to the water of the third floor.
