Chapter 18: ~Banquet~ My First Night in the World of Demons… (Part 1/3)

>> “What’s a human doing here?”

Their eyes pierced to me, as it glows in the shadows of the candelabras lit all over the place.

Everyone is amused, some are confused, and the remaining people, or should I say, Demons and other mythical creatures looked with scrutiny on me.

“It happens that on the commemoration of my birth, our Goddess Lenir, who created this world, entrusted this mortal to be my betrothed in this Kingdom.”

Rising from her seat, Queen Astarte boldly announced as her eyes meet with everyone.

“I found the man, who will rule this Kingdom with me. The one who holds the future of this realm,” her lips formed a sincere smile.

Grabbing my hand, she lifts it up as our fingers locked. I twitched out of surprise at the moment, and the red string attaches in our pinky fingers appears once again.

The crowd turn up an uproar from what they saw. “I want you to welcome our future ‘Demon King,’ and my soon to be husband.”

What—-what is she declaring!? “Hey! What are you saying?! I never told to you that—-"

“You’re here in my Kingdom, and this string that binds us is the proof that I am the only one for you, my King.”

Her eyes show enthusiasm as it sparkles. Like an emerald gemstone, it glimmers that illuminates her beauty.

Now, how this happened...?

The maids left me in this wide room by myself. Everything is like an antique. Candelabras hanging on the wall, and chandelier up on the ceiling hanging is made out of wood and metal.

The bed is spacious for a single person. Bookshelves piled with books covered in animal skins arranged at the right corner; desk and chair located at the far-left corner and tinder box on top.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

There’s an arc of glass window for the veranda. A balcony is located, and velvet magenta curtain designed to cover it hanged over.

“This place really is bizarre in its own way, but nothing I can do about it. Somehow, I am glad that mage summoned me.”

I recalled that time once again. It’s just a moment ago, when Catherine tried to kill me.

Because of the feelings I can’t reciprocate that this happen. But now, a new life or should I say... a second chance might be?

“Ah, there’s nothing going to change if I keep thinking about it!” I grunt out. Taking off the tailcoat and boots, I lay down on the bed.

It’s fluffier than my bed in my world. The canopy also hindrances the ceiling. This is really another world.

I rolled over the bed on the left side. Then, I turn right and do same thing for another way. The silence got me through; I need to do something!

“My clothes didn’t throw up by those girls, right?” I mumbled and sits on the bed. Looking at the divider door at the corner where I changed, my clothes was still there, folded neatly.

My bag’s also there, and my wallet and phone. “Today should be my payday. And never had been I got an absent at work.”

Picking my phone on my pants, I open the screen in the power button. The signal bar is missing, depicting no reception of cellular network.

Only the background and the remaining percentage of the battery left. These things are the remaining mementos of my world. How should I be able to go back there?

Will there be a way for me to go back home? I don’t want to stay here for so long. These eccentric mystical creatures are accusing me to be their next ruler.

And what makes it do to me? I don’t really understand. Out of the many people in my world, why me?

“Master...?” from the door, a knock suddenly heard and a voice called out. What...? Who is she calling ‘master?’

“Uh, wait!” I called and put the phone down on the bed. Dashing over the door, I heard the knob click as it open before I reached it. It’s the one of the servants who followed awhile ago.

“Uh...?” I utter out of wonder. The girl who has a round face and brown hair in shoulder length bowed, and lifts her head to look at me.

“I am sorry for not introducing my name. I’m Alecto, one of the servants who is under your command.”

Her name’s Alecto, huh? “Ah... okay. I’m Justin. You can just call me Justin—-"

“Master. You must prepare for the banquet tonight. The Queen’s commemoration of her birth will happen in the next 2 hours.”

Her face, still didn’t changed an expression just like a while ago, gazed at me. “Pardon?” I asked. “You should prepare for the night. The Queen will introduce you to everyone here in the Kingdom as the official fiancé for the candidacy of Demon King.”

What the...?! “Hey! I don’t remember agreeing to her proposal!”

Alecto slightly shakes her head sideward after hearing my runt. “The Queen’s order is a must. I am here to abide it, and so you... Master.”

What the heck? “Uhm... you said your name’s Alecto, right?”

The young woman nods at me. “Okay, I understand that you must follow the ‘order’ of the Queen, but...” giving off a tepid sigh, I pinched the bridge of my nose.

“What’s the matter, Master?” she asked. “No, stop calling me ‘Master.’ I can’t let you treat me like I’m a royalty. You see, I’m a mortal. And asking me to be the next ruler of this place is a little...”

“Little...? What?” her head tilt while glaring at me.

“Ah! I just can’t do it, all right?! It’s not me you’re looking for. I am not the person you guys want to rule here.”

I grunt out. Alecto didn’t reply anything as she kept staring at me. “Uh...? Is there something you needed more?” I asked, cracking the silence.

“I should then take you there by force now, Master.” Alecto then grabbed me on the waist and lifts me up to her shoulder.

Out of shock, the process of her carrying me like a sack of rice slowly come up to me. “Hey! Where you think you taking me!?”

“I need you to be obedient, Master. Should the Queen know about this, she will get upset.”

Alecto kept walking while grabbed my shirt. “Ugh! Please, let me go home! I want to go home!”

Though I cried out from pleading to turn me back from my world, none of those words heeded by this girl. This is really the worst.
