>> Aeshma left the room of her new master, who happens to be a mortal.
Holding the doorknob, she slowly closes the room but took a glance right before shutting it.
“A mere mortal, to be my new master to serve...”
That thought rushed on her mind. An unusual thing; in the history of Demons, this has never been happened before.
“But why...? And the way how he looks at me. He seemed not afraid.”
Recalling the conversation they had a while ago, her heart thumps fast. This has never happened before. It feels like there’s something in him that makes her go meek.
“A mere mortal will make me feel like this; how preposterous. There’s no way he can tame me. I am a Demon, a being mortals disdain of.”
Losing her grip on the doorknob, Aeshma left the chamber. However, her heart keeps thumping fast.
The warmth of his hand still entangles over her arms. “He seems kind, despite of him being a human. As per the Queen announced, the life of us and them should be at peace.”
Ever since the founding of this Kingdom, establishing co-relations with mortals wasn’t happen. Since Demons are believed to be the harbinger of Catastrophe, that should be impossible.
Since the feud between Demons and the mortal millennials ago, the bloodshed has never been stopped.
Yet, why...? “My heart can’t stop thumping fast. By that smile he gives, I feel flutter for knowing him.”
Aeshma stopped walking. His image didn’t waver out of her mind. That certain smile, basking under the morning sun made her waved.
“Why...? He’s a mortal. A mere mortal that hates Demons like us. There’s no way he can look at me like a being equal to him, right...?”
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
Aeshma confronted that thought. She can’t just accept it. This is something she just can’t take to believe.
“Aeshma...?” from behind, a voice calls out to her. The stupor mood lingers on hers suddenly abrupt and turn around. The three servants who followed her awhile ago looked quizzically.
“Ah, you three.” She utters. “What’s the matter?” one of the servants asked. She’s a young girl in her 14’s; has a round face and shoulder length hair dyed in brown. Her eyes are round and hazel hue.
Wearing a pinafore dress-style under the weaved linen shirt and long, black skirt, her allure gives off. “Our new master, is he the one weighs on you?”
“Ah, Alecto...” Aeshma called. The girl named Alecto, is the new hired servant supposedly working with the other servants in other tasks, aligned to be one of the personal chambermaids of the King.
“Seems that person bothers you, am I right?” another one from the servant speaks.
Like Alecto, the other girl wears pinafore dress-style under the weaved linen shirt and long, black skirt. Her hair dyed in Balayage of gold and rosy color.
She’s in early 17 years and a wavy hair paired with long horns plucked on top, covered with a hair garment. Her eyes, slit in shaped looked at Aeshma.
“I... I just thinking that serving a mortal like a King-to-be seems bizarre. Don’t you think, Eisheth?”
“I wasn’t expecting at it as well. Giving the thought a mortal will be the future King, that is...” Eisheth replied as she looks at Alecto, and both nods.
“Personally, it really is hard to believe that this happens...” the other one chided in as she steps in. The three looks at the other girl, as a smile shows on its lips.
“Kroni.” Alecto mumbled. Another one of the servants, like Alecto and Eisheth, has been tasked to serve the future King as a personal attendant.
Her appearance is quite mature than the two young women. She’s around 18 years old and has a mature, alluring vibe.
“I never thought of seeing a mortal here in our realm. Not even in my dreams this will happen.”
The three looked at each other and looks again at her. “But I think this is interesting; I’ve been curious as to how mortals live.”
Adding that statement, her eyes looked at the three girls. “You have a point.” Alecto replied.
“Even so, this is really unusual. And here, Aeshma seemed troubled from what happened with our new master.” Kroni’s eyes upturned as she gazes at Aeshma.
“What...? Do I look troubled?” Aeshma agitatedly defended.
“Why of course. That man; I feel there’s no harm to know about him. Even the Queen got tamed the moment they met.”
Eisheth quizzically turned to look at Kroni. “I feel that presence, too.” She replied.
Aeshma clutched her hands tight. That man, Justin, seemed not getting troubled to talked with them. He seemed lenient and humble being.
“I assume that the story our predecessors made might change because of him. We might get a chance to get along with mortals, don’t you think?”
Kroni shows a wide smile. “And here we thought that getting frigid expression may intimidate him.”
“We must still stay up our guards. We don’t know what that mortal will do to us.”
With cautious on her voice, Eisheth chides in.
“I agree with Eisheth. Even if he’s the next Demon King that will rule this realm, we should not get carried away.”
Kroni nods in agreement, whilst Aeshma didn’t give any response on it.
“Aeshma?” Eisheth called. “Huh?” she utters.
“Don’t think much about it. I know this is quite new and unusual... but we must think of our Queen’s command.”
Though still uncertain, Aeshma nods to the response of her subordinate.
“This is a new chapter of my life as a servant. As the previous Queen Juno’s personal attendant, her will should be carried out for the future of this Kingdom.”
That certain thought rushes on her mind. There’s no need to be hesitated.
Queen Astarte is the one ruling the Kingdom now. The rules she says must never falter to follow.
Right now, though in her heart still remains the uncertainty of the mortal, what she could do now is to trust the new ruler of this Kingdom.
