Chapter 63 -

Hendrix's question caught Noelle off guard. She thought she had misheard him for a moment.

It took her several seconds to regain her senses. A faint smile curled at the corners of her lips. "Mr. Freeman, you think it's too late to ask this question now?"

don't

Hendrix narrowed his eyes slightly. He assumed she was just throwing a tantrum the first time when she brought up divorce.

He could only tolerate her whims once. Therefore, he agreed without hesitation the second time when she mentioned it.

Was it out of spite? It probably was.

However, he was even more certain that she would regret it Yet, it seemed that he was wrong now.

He had learned about her past just two days ago. Her adoptive father, William, was sentenced to prison, while her adoptive mother, Cynthia, was in a coma and lying in a hospital.

She had never mentioned any of it to him.

Only then did he realize that he might never have truly known her.

"But whatever the reason is, it doesn't matter now." Noelle's voice sounded again, "You can rest assured that Liam definitely won't be seeing me anymore after what happened tonight. The things you were worried about won't happen, and we probably won't meet again, either.

"We w

were once husband and wife no matter what. I wish you all the best, Mr. Freeman. May you get everything you desire."

Noelle finished her words. Her tone and gaze carried an unmistakable sincerity.

Hendrix stared at her for a moment before he suddenly laughed. "Pull over," he said.

She understood his intention and turned decisively without looking at him again.

He suddenly spoke just as she opened the car door, "It was not your fault for what happened back then."

It was such a casual remark, as if it were a charitable gesture born out of pity for her. It was like tossing a crumb of sympathy to a stray kitten or puppy.

She knew he was never a kind man. However, as she had mentioned earlier, they were once husband and wife. This was the first time she had heard him say something to comfort her in all their time together. It turned out that he did understand. He just never cared to say it.

How could he possibly not understand?

She had seen his gentleness before. It was just never meant for her.

She thought she would have been deeply moved if she had heard those words before their divorce. She might have fallen into that abyss once again without hesitation. However, it was too late now. She would never do that again.

She had finally awakened after losing herself in a dream for years.

She closed her eyes tightly and forced back the tears that threatened to fall before turning to look at him. "Thank you."

With that, she got out of the car and closed the door without hesitation before Levi pulled away. Chapter 63noveldrama

However, the driver couldn't help but say after driving for awhile, "Mr. Freeman, it's late now. Wouldn't it be unsafe to leave Mrs... Ms. Swanson alone?"

Hendrix lifted his gaze to him. The cold glint in his eyes sent a shiver down his spine.

Hendrix spoke just as he was about to apologize for overstepping, "She doesn't even care about her safety. Why should you?

Levi picked up on the underlying tone after Hendrix finished speaking.

Hendrix had been waiting for Noelle to ask him to take her home.

Unfortunately, she didn't..
