A woman laid, propped up on her bed. The hollows of her cheeks could be seen and her eyes looked dead as they stared off into a far distance.
“Mommy!” A child’s voice called out. Life returned to the woman’s eyes and a gentle smile appeared on her face as she saw a little girl running in through the door.
“Hu Die!” The woman called out as she opened her arms wide. The little girl smiled as she jumped on the bed, into her mother’s arms. The woman giggled as she tightly embraced her daughter. She stroke the little girl’s back gently and rocked back and forth. “How is mommy’s favorite little girl today?” The woman asked as she planted a kiss on the little girl’s forehead. The little girl giggled.
“I’m good!” The girl answered energetically. The woman smiled as she patted the little girl’s head. The little girl raised her head to look at her mother, with her big brown eyes. “Mommy, tell me another story! Tell me another story!” She begged with puppy eyes. The woman let out a laugh before nodding her head.
“Alright, alright!” The woman paused to think about the legends she had heard before. She, then looked down at her child. “Have I ever told you the legend of The Immortal Hero?” The woman asked the little girl. The little girl shook her head.
“No.”
“Really then? Well mommy will tell you today then as it is mommy’s favorite story.” The woman moved the little girl so the little girl was sitting up next to her and she wrapped her arm around the little girl’s shoulder. The little girl giggled before clearing her throat and growing quiet.
“Now then let’s get started.” The mother began.
A long time ago, when war raged throughout the kingdom, in a small village a little boy was born. His name was Chang Sheng Huo. Chang Sheng Huo was an ordinary little boy born in a small ordinary village with ordinary parents. He lived a happy life until one day, a demon beast escaped from the Beast Continent and entered his village. The demon beast ended up killing everyone in the village.
Chang Sheng Huo only barely managed to stay alive when some healers got to him, and he was the only one left of his village. When Chang Sheng Huo fully recovered he promised to himself to become the best martial artist in the world and he swore to take revenge against the demon beast. Afterwards he left for the mountains. He trained very hard and although he was not blessed with talent, his endurance and determination helped him become strong.
One day when Chang Sheng Huo was training in the mountains, he stumbled upon a man. This man was sleeping, balancing his body on a single strand of vine. When the man noticed Chang Sheng Huo, the man swiftly jumped off of his vine and approached Chang Sheng Huo, telling him that if he wanted to get stronger, then to follow the man. Chang Sheng Huo nodded his head and took the man in as his master.
After seven long years, Chang Sheng Huo finally came out from the mountains. His master, however never came out with him and to this day have been said to never have been seen. Some even speculated that Chang Sheng Huo’s master never existed, but no one knows for sure.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
After leaving the mountains Chang Sheng Huo roamed across the continents searching for the demon beast that had killed his village. He eventually found him and the two fought for a long time, however the demon beast was weaker. As the demon beast laid on the ground Chang Sheng Huo was ready to give him the finishing blow, however he didn’t. The kindness from Chang Sheng Huo’s heart did not let him kill the demon beast, and he let the demon beast go.
He defeated -but never killed- many beasts and bad organization such as the white dragon beast, the flower beast, and the water slime beast. He was so strong that many children and scholars began training to become a martial artist instead! Not only was he strong, but he was also wise beyond his years. He helped stopped the war that was threatening many people by settling the dispute with the kingdoms over a drink!
From there, Chang Sheng Huo roamed all of the continents protecting all of the people. He would hurt demon beasts who threatened human beings, however he would never kill one. He was kind and caring. He would help feed the poor and soon his name was spreading across the whole region. There was not one person who did not know who he was. He was famous no matter where he went and was accepted. He was a humble person however, and would always repay people in kindness. His legend has lived and will continue to live for years.
The woman smiled as she thought about a handsome man going around helping all the villagers.
“Mother, continue.” The little girl said as she tugged onto her mother’s robe. The woman looked down and gave her a small smile.
“That’s it my dear.” The woman said. The little girl frowned.
“How can that be it? What happened to him?”
“I’m not sure. Some said that he went back into the mountain to train, others said he found the secret to immortality and hid himself among the people. Some just said that he died during a battle, or simply just disappeared. To this day, no one really knows.” Her mother answered. The little girl had a conflicted look on her face but she just shrugged her shoulders.
“Maybe…when I get stronger and go on an adventure myself... I will meet him someday, and when I do will ask him why he disappeared.” The little girl smiled at her mother. The woman let out a laugh as she saw the look on her daughter’s face.
“Is that so? How very daring of my daughter!” The woman tightly squeezed her child as she let out another laugh, her face filled with glee as she thought about her daughter meeting the man. “If that ever happens, I am sure he would be willing to help you in your troubles for he is a kind hero.”
