Yo Mei and Chou’s furrowed as they did not understand what Chief Chu was saying. Yu Lin was also trying hard to control her facial expressions. She lightly bit down on the inside of her cheek to resist asking what he was talking about.
“What do you mean Chief Chu?” Yo Mei asked dumbfounded. When she heard that he had good news she thought that maybe her daughter had developed chi center that could support both of the chi energies that would developed in her body. Never did she expect to hear that their daughter had a different type of chi energy. Chief Chu was also thrown back, but because he was a knowledgeable man he could hypothesize the reason behind the new type of energy.
“I believe,” Chief Chu started, “that your daughter’s chi energies has reached an equilibrium state.”
“What do you mean by equilibrium state?”
“Well in normal circumstances one chi energy will overpower the other. For example when the blue and yellow energies mix, the blue energy will overpower the yellow. This is because blue chi energy is more dominating than yellow chi energy. The reason why red chi energy can’t be mix to either is due to the fact that its dominating, and also requires a small chi center. When red and blue energy mix they will both fight each other to be the dominant one. When red and yellow mix it is dangerous for the user because the chi center is so small that it could easily burst and shatter. The matter here is different with your daughter...” Chief Chu paused for a second to think. “I think that your daughter’s chi energies has both reached a state of agreement and flow eveningly throughout your daughter’s chi center. By doing this they had created a different type of chi energy.” He finished.
Yu Lin who was hearing all of this tried very hard to control her expressions. She had never heard of two energies reaching an equilibrium and creating a different type of chi energy. ‘What is going on with my body?’ Yu Lin set her hand on her stomach. ‘Could it be because I have been practicing The Eight Forms of Yin and Yang and the Shan Clan’s Energy Balance Technique?’ Yu Lin figured it must have been because of this. Yo Mei saw Yu Lin put her hand over her stomach.
“Yu Lin, are you hungry?” Yo Mei asked her daughter.
“Huh?” Yu Lin looked at her mom. Although it was true that she did feel a little hungry, that was not the reason why she set her hand on her stomach. The reason was that she wanted to feel her chi center. “Un.” She replied. She slid out of Chief’s Chu arms as she followed her mother into the kitchen.
Yo Mei handed Yu Lin and an apple before telling her that they would eat dinner after she discussed with Chief Chu. She watched as Yu Lin took her apple and went back to her painting before heading back to the kitchen table. The kitchen and living room were basically just one room in the house making it easy for Yu Lin to still eavesdrop on them. She quickly wrote down what Chief Chu said before listening in on them.
“Is this a good or bad thing?” asked Yo Mei.
“That… I am not sure, however I do not think it is a bad thing. Instead of each energy fighting for dominance this is probably a better result.” Chief Chu rubbed his temple.
“Will she live?” Chou finally spoke up. Chou did not really understand the discussion between his wife and the Chief for he had lower intelligence. He only understood the gist of the discussion. Despite this he felt that whatever was going on with Yu Lin was not necessarily a bad thing. Chief Chu looked at Chou and gave him a fatherly smile.
“Don’t worry Chou, I believe your daughter will be fine, in fact I believe your daughter will have great talents better than any geniuses in this whole continent!” Chief Chu reassured Chou. Chou smiled happily thinking that Chief Chu had exaggerated on purpose to make him feel better. Chief Chu however was not exaggerating at all. He truly believed that Yu Lin had great talents.
“Then that is all that matters.”
“That is correct.” Chief Chu leaned back into his chair placing his hands behind his head. Yo Mei had many questions however decided that if this was a first occurrence then even the wise Chu Hong Hu would not know all the answers.
“Thank you for everything today Chief Chu. Would you like to stay for dinner?”
“Yes Mrs. Du. I would love to stay for dinner.” Chief Chu gave a hearty laugh. Yu Lin had already finished her apple and writing down all the hypothesis she had. She was still curious about her body however she decided that could wait until dinner.
After dinner Chief Chu was ready to leave. The Du Family stood by the door to send him out. Yu Lin was standing on the ground when Chief Chu picked her up. Yo Mei and Chou chuckled, for they felt that Chief Chu was like Yu Lin’s grandfather.
“Yu Lin. Do you like me?” Chief Chu asked with a friendly face. Yu Lin frowned.
“No. You are scary.” Yu Lin replied. Chief Chu looked shock before he let out a laugh.
“How am I scary?”
“When you put your fingers on my tummy, it felt funny. Like something crawled inside of my tummy.” Yu Lin pouted. Everythere except for Yu Lin was shocked. Usually when someone is that young they still cannot feel when other chi energies enter their body. To the eyes of the adults, they all thought that Yu Lin was genuinely frightened. They all remembered the first time when they felt chi energy enter their body. It was a weird tingling feeling.
To Yu Lin, all this was just an act. She knew that they would be surprised if she mentioned something about Chief Chu’s chi energy. The reason she decided to do this was so she would perk Chief Chu’s interest. She had hope that if she perk his interest then he would continue to study her chi energy. She wanted to know more about her body, however she does not know much about blue and red energy. She worked mostly with yellow energy in her previous life.
“I’m sorry about that Yu Lin. Next time I will ask for your permission first, how about that?”
“Yes, Chief Chu.”
“Don’t call me Chief Chu, Yu Lin can just call me grandpa.” Chief Chu gave her a smile.
“Grand… pa?”
“Yes, grandpa.”
“Ok grandpa.” Yu Lin gave him a small smile. Chief Chu thought that this was her warming up to him. Chief Chu had always been a favorite among kids. He gain a lot of kid’s favorite by frequently going to the school and playing with them. Chief Chu would go there to see if there is any talented kids that they could send to a bigger school instead of the small school in Glorious Forest. He knew that the best way to get kids to warm up was to play with them and be friendly with them. A lot of the village kids would wait for his school visits.

“Do you want to come visit grandpa tomorrow?” Chief Chu made eye contact with Yo Mei and Chou. Yo Mei and Chou both nodded.
“What would we be doing?”
“You can come play with my grandson and I. I promise it will be fun!” Chief Chu smiled. Yu Lin looked at her parents.
“May I go? May I go?” Yu Lin asked in elf language, and then troll language. Both her parents nodded her head. (Italics mean in elf language. Bold is for troll language. This is because the elf language is softer sounding that the troll language.)
“Do you trust this man Mama?” Yu Lin asked. Yo Mei smiled and walk towards her.
“Of course. This man is a very nice man Yu Lin.” Yo Mei pushed Yu Lin’s white hair behind her ear.
“Papa, do you trust this man?”
“With all my heart!” Chou’s voice roared. Yu Lin smiled. She needed confirmation before she decided to go any further. ‘If both of them trust him, then I will too trust him.’ Yu Lin thought. She knew her parents were wise and trusted in their decision. She looked back at Chief Chu.
“I would love to come.” Yu Lin bowed her head respectfully. Chief Chu let out a hearty laugh before placing her back on the ground.
“Then I will come pick you up tomorrow.” Chief Chu patted her head softly. He was honestly amazed at how respectful Yu Lin was. Usually kids was always hyper and would forget their manners. Yu Lin on the other hand was respectful and did not forget her manners the whole time they communicated. “I will come back tomorrow after breakfast.” He looked at Yo Mei and Chou. They both nodded. Chief Chu then exited the home.
“Have a safe trip back.” The whole family said and bowed in unison. Yo Mei and Chou were excited in their hearts. They were happy that their daughter was not in a life threatening situation.
Yo Mei tucked Yu Lin in and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
“My beautiful daughter, grow up well and healthy.”
“Yes mama.” Yu Lin gave her a big smile. Yo Mei smiled also as she gave her another peck. Yo Mei then headed to her and Chou’s bedroom closing the door behind her. Yu Lin waited until she heard both of them snoring loudly before she got out of her bed. She left half the corner of the blanket open just in case she needed to jump in bed.
She sat down on the ground cross legged. Her fingers all touch their opposite fingers forming the shape of an O. Then she placed it over her stomach and closed her eyes. She started to softly chant the Shan Clan’s Energy Balance Technique.
Yu Lin learned this technique in the past when she was looking for ways to recover her chi center. She was hopeless and about to give up when she met Shan Qi Long. They didn’t get along at first though, but after Shan Qi Long learned of her story he decided to help her by teaching her the Shan Clan’s secret technique. Each time she chanted this technique her heart would ache thinking of Shan Qi Long. Since the day she was born she yearned to meet her husband and children again.
Yu Lin could feel her chi energy swirl in her chi center. She didn’t notice it until Chief Chu discovered it, but she could feel that she only had one chi energy. She did not feel two conflicting energies but instead felt one chi energy.
Yu Lin opened her eyes. It was completely dark in her room except for a tiny bit of moonlight entering through a crack from the curtains. She stood up and walked to the moonlight. She held her pointer finger out so that she could see it. She muster her chi energy and slowly ejected a tiny bit out of her pointer finger. To others this would be a difficult feat. This is because ejected chi energy in only one place accurately required a lot of concentration and practice. Usually when chi energy is ejected it is to cast a spell, or to damage the opponent. Instead of one tiny place chi energy would surround the whole fist if one was going for a punch. Yu Lin was able to do this easily because she used to be a healer. To accurately hit the pressure points, and reach the source of pain she pratice this thousands of times until she got it right.
Yu Lin watched as a tiny source of her energy came out of her pointer finger. Her eyes widen in shock. ‘It really is a purple chi energy.’ She thought. Yu Lin finally realized how strong Chief Chu was. It was easy to analyze someone’s chi center but telling the accurate color of a chi center would be difficult. ‘At the least he should be a 3rd Level Grandmaster Rank.’ Yu Lin knew she made the right choice of putting her trust in him. Just then she felt her mother’s presence. She stopped ejecting her chi energy and jumped in her bed as quietly and slowly as she could.
Yo Mei was sleeping when she detected chi energy that did not belong to her nor Chou. She grabbed her black longsword, a candle, and rushed out of bed.. She felt the energy coming from Yu Lin’s room. ‘Yu Lin! My daughter!’ She thought as she rushed to Yu Lin’s room. She slammed open the door.
“Yu Lin!” She yelled nervously. She walked over to her daughter’s bed to see her sound asleep. Yo Mei breathed a sigh of relief. She checked the windows to see if anyone barged in however nothing was broken or had any sign of forced entrance. ‘Did I sense incorrectly?’ Yo Mei thought. She went back to her daughter and was glad she hadn’t woken up her up. Yo Mei stroke Yu Lin’s forehead and kissed it. ‘My daughter, what would I do if something were to happen to you?’ She thought. She gave her forehead another kiss before leaving the room.
Yu Lin waited until she could hear Yo Mei snoring again before she sat up. ‘Sensing just that tiny chi energy, mama must be at least a Master.’ She thought. Yu Lin looked outside and calculated that she only had six hours left before sunrise. She decided to skip practicing The Eight Forms of Yin and Yang and headed to sleep.
