Zach awoke to Conner staring down at him. “Well good morning sleepy head, how do you feel?”
“Where am I? Where is Nick?” Zach asked.
“You are in your bed. You and Nick were brought to the Academy by the family you saved.” Conner answered.
“How long have I been out?” Zach asked.
“Three days.” Conner replied.
“Three days!?” Zach said.
“Calm down Zach. Doc said that given the amount of energy you produced, the recovery time should have been seven days not three.” Conner said, taking hold of Zach’s hand.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
“Wait, how much did I produce?” Zach asked.
“None of us knows how much, but it was powerful enough to slow the movement of everything across the globe.” Conner said with excitement in his voice.
“Don’t joke around with me.” Zach said.
“I’m not joking Zach, Nick told me that your body was creating ghost-like images of you. And when you hit that Redcap, he said that the After Images all sorta combined into you at the moment when you punched the Redcap.” Conner said.
There was a knock at Zach’s bedroom door. “Come.” Zach said. Sofia, Gus, Reilly, and Nick filed into the cramped room.
“I KNEW YOU HAD THE CONNECTION!!” Sofia exclaimed.
“What?” Zach asked.
“You heard what I said. Don’t play dumb with me!” Sofia said in a softer tone than before.
“It is nice to see that you are awake Zach.” Reilly said.
“I have to tell you Zach, you did quite a number on the Redcaps.” Gus said.
“Thank you for getting me to the Academy as far as you did. Also don’t forget about the stealthy movement lessons that we talked about.” Nick wrote.
“Thank you for staying alive Zach.” Conner said squeezing Zach’s hand.
