In the morning Zach woke before Conner. He got up and poured himself a glass of tea. He pulled a notebook and pencil out from a cupboard and started to design a new project. Zach was pouring another glass of tea when Conner woke up. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Conner sat up and greeted Zach.
"Morning. What time Is it?" Conner said.
"11:43." Zach replied.
"Wow, I have to start sleeping on a pile of straw from now on. That was one of the best nights of sleep I ever had." Conner said.
" Do you like Tea?" Zach asked.
"Yes." Conner answered.
Zach handed Conner a glass of tea and sat back down to continue his work.
"Wuchya working on?" Conner asked.
"I'm working on a new design for a piece of construction equipment." Zach said.
Zach slid the notebook toward Conner and he looked down at it.
"It welds two metals together in a seamless bond without needing to add heat." Zach said.
"How is that possible?" Conner said looking at the circuitry diagram.
"Well the oxygen in the atmosphere causes the surface of the metal to corrode, leaving a thin layer of Oxidation. This Oxidation prevents the molecules in the metal to flow into another bit of metal. this device removes that layer of Oxidation and allows the two metals to flow into each other, creating a seamless bond that has no weakness other than from the metal itself." Zach explained.

“Wow, That is genius Zach. How did you come up with this?” Conner asked.
“I didn’t. I found some old circuit diagrams in an abandoned library. It had a lot of design flaws so I used my knowledge to fix what was faulty.” Zach responded.
“Wait you got these from an abandoned library? Where is it?” Conner said.
“To be honest Conner, I would prefer to not tell you. It is a place I would like to keep secret.” Zach said nervously.
“Oh come on, I promise I won't tell anybody. Your secret is safe with me.”Conner said.
“Maybe another time.” Zach said.
“On another note, I want to talk to you about what happened two days ago. Why did you disappear like that?” Conner asked.
Zach got up and poured himself another cup of tea. “Do you mean what happened in the Academy’s library? I just got overwhelmed. I’m sorry for bailing on you.” Zach said apologetically.
“Oh no, you did nothing wrong. A lot of the Connected have reactions like that. I just wanted to know why the Connection has not been established within you?” Conner said reassuringly.
Zach sat back down, folded the diagrams, and put them into a satchel. “I don’t know why, All I know is that all you need to survive is a strong body, quick thinking, and good morals.” Zach said.
Conner smiled and got up from his chair. “You know what Zach, for an Incoherent you have the heart and soul of a god. If you put your mind to it, you can be anything you want to be, and that is what I admire about you.” Conner said.
Zach was caught off guard with what Conner said to him. “T-Thank you. Nobody has ever said that to me other than Avner. That means a lot to me.” Zach said embarrassed.
Conner spent the rest of the day with Zach, they Treated the sick and found enough food to feed the starving. Zach knew that Conner would be a close friend of his from now on.
