Chapter 3
Hey guys this is probably my longest release yet and i will try to make my releases at least this long if not more.
It had been a week since Perseus had begun his basic training with the instructor and his new master was due to be back anytime now. Over the past week Perseus had grown much faster and stronger, this was the result of the hellish training he had to endure. Perseus was made to do many underwater drills to improve his body control and fluidity as well as a training simulation of high altitudes. This particular training was done with the assistance of a wind mage who was put on Perseus’s revenge list. After the sixth day with instructor Grok Perseus realized that the instructor was trying to aggravate him on purpose to make him work harder. This got him and the mage, who was forced by the instructor to do what he did, off of Perseus’s revenge list. This did not though in any way prevent him from gazing at the instructor with blood lust every time he gave him more work.
His continuous usage of killing intent and being forced to his limits had generated a combination of stats and the creation of a skill for Perseus.
New stat generated: Killing Spirit
By continuously releasing you killing intent at the breaking point of your limit you have created a new hybrid stat. You may temporarily call upon superhuman strength. You also have a chance to create an illusion dependent on depth of your desire to kill and fight. You may not distribute points to this stat, spontaneously rises in accordance to user’s action.
New skill: Killing spirit manipulation
By manipulating you killing spirit you can direct it at will and you are able to create lesser illusions. If your Killing spirit is strong enough you have a chance of stunning and/or confusing an opponent. You may also bypass some low level illusions.
Perseus had also brought his identify, repair, polishing and sharpening up to intermediate 2, intermediate 1, beginner level 9 and beginner level 6 respectively. This was the result of spending hours upon hours every night identifying, fixing the armor and weapons in the storage room. There weren't that many weapons as there were armor so his sharpening skills were lower than the rest of his skills. By the end of the fifth day Perseus had fixed, cleaned and sharpened every piece of gear in the storage room. He had also increased his wisdom and intellect from identifying many items. The instructor had given him thirty gold for restoring all the items.
Today Perseus was woken up early the instructor for a final test of basic fitness.
“Ok Perseus you have survived a week of training with me now to put that to the test. Put on this Backpack filled with rocks and increase the amount of weights on your ankle and wrist. Good, now give me 1000 Laps around the track, 800 push ups, and 900 sit ups and then 800 laps on the pool. If you can pass that you have finished the training.”
Perseus aware of the rules did not say a word yet released his killing spirit at the instructor and faced all his aggression of being given work at the. Perseus finished the test with more than half his stamina bar remaining.
“Alright, Perseus you have now survived a week of training with me and completed the final test. To be honest at first I didn’t think you could do it but you have exceeded my expectations. You will now be the first apprentice of Sir Aglaron.”
“What do you mean first apprentice didn’t you say that there were many people who tried to pass his training?”
“Yeah, about that I meant my training if you want to be Aglaron’s apprentice you need to be acknowledged by me. Aglaron tasked me with finding a suitable apprentice for him as I get the privilege of seeing many great knights at their beginnings. You are the first to get my approval.”
“So you have no idea what his training method will be do you?”
“Nope, but it will probably be far harder than anything we have done until now. I have only trained your basic fitness and laid a foundation. Your new master will teach you how to fight. Good luck, knowing him you will probably need it.”
“Thanks, but what do I do now.”
“Well he really is on a quest right now and will be back tomorrow afternoon. I suggest you go to the library and research what types of weapon you want to learn. Come back tomorrow morning and I will give you the letter of recommendation.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
After saying his goodbyes Perseus made his way out of the training hall and to the library. He now founded it easier to navigate the roads. Perseus did not however notice that he had attracted quite a few stares, a lot of which were female. Unaware of it himself, Perseus’s continuous training over the past week had conditioned his body into steel, combined with his natural good looks and unique eyes made him stand out. To onlookers what seemed weirder than his body was his gear. He obviously gave off the look of someone who has been in quite a lot of near death experiences, yet he was wearing beginner gear and for some reason, that the onlookers could not comprehend, ankle and wrist weights. Which by the look of them were at least 20 kg. The men watching Perseus move around with such ease while wearing heavy weights all thought he was trying to show off his physical strength and dismissed it as him being a high leveled player. Why a high level player would dress as a beginner nobody knew and nobody asked as their male pride forbade them from thinking of it let alone admit a beginner was stronger than them. Perseus was oblivious, too busy thinking about what type of weapon he would like to learn to use.
‘Well as a knight I am obviously going to be using melee weapons. Should I get a sword, and axe or a mace? I like the feeling of slicing something, but sometimes you feel like hitting something with a blunt weapon to feel the recoil and other times you feel like just putting everything into just one strike and striking them in half.’
While thinking on this he had reached his destination.
‘While I am here I can use this as a chance to research Rosenheim’s Military system and background.’
“Good morning.”
“Greeting trav- I am sorry but this is not the training hall it’s the library. You can find the library to the south of here.”
After seeing Perseus’s build and weights the librarian assumed that he had mistaken the library for the training hall.
“My apologies, sir librarian you seem to have misunderstood I am here to research Rosenheim’s Military system, history and any books you may have on melee weaponry.”
“Oh yes, we have many books on the subject follow me.”
The librarian led Perseus to one of the older larger aisles.
“These are all the books we have on the military war and history, the weapons are included in the books and we have separate books on weaponry at the end of the aisle.”
“Thank you.”
“No problem, have fun.”
Perseus grabbed the books on the military of Rosenheim. He began reading and after eight hours of continuous speed reading had finished reading half the books in the aisle. His wisdom and intelligence had also risen.
He had learned of the different ranks of the Kingdom of Rosenheim. At the bottom of the food chain are the foot soldiers. Above them we have the denarions, who have command of a squad of ten soldiers, they are the lieutenants of the centurions who have command of up to a hundred soldiers. The centurions are considered to be sub-class of a knight and have the opportunity of taking a class advancement to become a knight of one of five orders. The way of advancement into an order depends on the order as the orders have different duties to attend to and the strength required to be each is different. You are automatically advanced into an order if you are trained and knighted by a knight of one of the orders.
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
The Scarlet Red Order is tasked with dealing with monsters in and around Rosenheim. They work together with the Blue order which is tasked with protecting Rosenheim. The Gold Order is tasked with protecting the castle and the royal family, as such a lot of the stronger knights are in this order. The White Order, which is know for its magic, is tasked with foreign relations with other kingdoms and assisting any of the other orders should they need it. Finally the Black Order is tasked with dealing with any threats to Rosenheim and its allies. Its orders supersede that of the other orders and have the strongest knights on par if not stronger than the Knights of the Gold Order.
Each Order has rankings within such as the regular Knights, Knight Captains, Knight Colonel, Lieutenant Commander Knights, and the Commander Knight. The Commander Knight of each Order has the authority ranking just below that of a prince. Above the Commander Knight of each order is the Commander General of the Army of the Kingdom. He is the strongest knight of the Kingdom and only answers to the direct line of the Royal Family.
Perseus had no idea which Order his new Master belonged to or his rank. He just hoped he was not weak. He was just about to begin reading the history and books on weaponry when he realized he was hungry.
‘Alright, I guess it’s time for a break.’
Perseus put the books back on the shelf and made his way to the exit. He was about to leave when the librarian called out to him.
“Going out, did you finish all the books?”
“No, I am just going out for a bite to eat.”
“I see, well then come back soon I’ll look for some more books on Rosenheim’s history for you, I’ll have them when you get back.”
Walking out into sun Perseus realized that was around 4 in the afternoon and made his way to the training hall for lunch with the instructor. This time Perseus noticing the stares decided to take a less crowded route to the training hall and made it there in 20 minutes. It wasn’t hard to find the instructor; he was the tall orc-like human barking at people who were too weak or using their swords incorrectly.
“Good afternoon instructor.”
“Ah your back, same to you, so did you figure out what weapons you have an interest you would like to use?”
“Well not really I have had my mind on three types of weapons but before I could research them in depth I got distracted by Rosenheim’s military books.”
“So you have read those have you.”
“Yeah, by the way I was wondering what Order does my new teacher belong to and what is his rank?”
“Hmm I can’t remember, but be assured he fights regularly so he is not of the Yellow Order.”
‘I hope he is at least a Knight Captain.’
“If you say so, anyway the reason I came back I’m hungry.”
“Alright I guess I’ll have a bite to eat as well.”
The instructor and Perseus went to the instructor’s room for lunch, leaving behind a hundred confused faces. They all seemed to be asking the same question “How can anyone be that friendly with the instructor?!”
Oblivious to this all the instructor and Perseus made their way to the room and began wolfing down the steak the instructor made.
After eating his fill Perseus made his way back to the library. He took a route longer than before because even if it was virtual reality he felt the need to work off the food he ate.
He made it back to the library after 30 minutes. He didn’t see the librarian at the desk so he just went to his aisle and he was greeted by a large stack of books waiting for him. The books were all about the History of Rosenheim and some of the prominent figures in its time.
‘I should thank the librarian when I see him.’
Perseus spent the next 10 hours reading through all the books he was rewarded with a boost in his wisdom, intelligence and an in-depth knowledge of Rosenheim’s history.
Many years ago there were three great empires the Niflheim, Muspelheim and the Vanaheim empires.
The Niflheim Empire lied to the north; it however fell at the hands of a massive invasion of monsters. The emperor of the Niflheim Empire is said to have run away and it has been speculated on for years whether he had run away or not. We cannot be sure as many of the records have been lost.
The Muspelheim Empire lay in an area with many volcanoes. One day all the volcanoes blew at once. This attracted a lot of fire giants and other fire monsters. The empire was able to stop the monsters but, after the defeat of the monsters the empire split into several smaller kingdoms. The reason behind the kingdom splitting is known to few.
The Vanaheim Empire lied in the west of the continent of Versailles. They named the empire the Vanaheim empire after the Vanir due to their close relationship with the Vanir. The Vanir were race of powerful beings extremely skilled in sorcery and magic yet few in numbers as they produced a single offspring every 20 years. The Empire thrived it was a time of peace. Until The scourge Bar Khan turned them away from the path of the gods to that of Chaos and Destruction. He turned them into shadow spawn, however, even after the fall of Bar Khan they did not revert back to normal and waged war against the Empire. The Empire managed to defeat the Vanir but at a great cost, the empire was laid to waste and split into many different kingdoms each of them claiming to be led by the rightful descendant of the deceased Emperor of Vanaheim. Which royal family is the true descendant of the Emperor is unknown, known only to who truly is the heir.

‘I don’t look as pitiful as before. I should try using my killing spirit more often, it is too low. Anyway time to get some sleep.’
Percy logged off and was about to sleep when he remembered something.
‘Oh yea I should start the plan get back at sis.’
Percy went in to the kitchen down the stairs got what he needed and quietly went back up to his sister’s room. He slowly made his way across the room, after checking if she was sleeping. It wasn't hard his sister snored like a pig (no offense to any pigs out there reading this). His plan for revenge was simple he was going to empty a bottle of water on her bed every night for a week. In effect making her believe she is a bet wetter. Whenever she goes to bed she will remember this week for the rest of her life.
‘All done, now for sleep.’
Accomplishing his mission Percy carefully made his way back to his room and after setting the alarm fell asleep.
