Learning Curves
“So that’s what i hidden class looks like.” Allwind said blinking rapidly as message after message popped up one after another, in front of him eventually stopping, he sat still on the front door step of Lilly’s house giving at the scenery as if he had been hit on the back of the head with something heavy.
“You really are going to help them?” Lilly asked.
“I don’t think i have a choice now, besides i can’t say no to one of your requests Lilly of course i’ll help them,” Allwind replied smiling at the young girl.
“Hehe you will be the best knight, if you help them i just know it,” Lilly said grabbing hold of Allwind’s arm in her hand was the silvery feather, Allwind gaze went to it, his hand slowly reaching out to touch it.
Pop
The feather exploded in a shower of yellow and white sparks.
Suddenly a soft yet sharp pain ran down Allwind’s back causing him to squirm.
“Ha my feather,” Lilly cried out as it disappeared.
“Umm sorry Lilly i didn’t know that would happen, it’s like i was mesmerised for a moment their felt like i wasn’t in control,” Allwind admitted,
“It’s ok. Ha” she cried out again this time pointing at Allwind her eyes going round with shock.
“yyyou have wings,” she said her voice going extremely high in her excitement
“Hu”
Franticly looking over his shoulder Allwind did indeed appear to have bright yellow wings, trying to reach them with his hands not quiet believing his eyes the wings moved just before he could reach them creating a small gust of wind before slowly fading and disappearing altogether leaving the two friends speechless.

He said his fair wells to both of them before heading down the street not knowing what to do next, the choices were limited however as this body shuddered as he yarned, ‘that’s right i didn’t get any sleep,’ he thought leaning against a wall, ‘i should check out the rest of my new skills and stats before i log off, if that sister of mine corners me ill be done for if i don’t have anything to report,’ sighing he opened the main menu and began to search for the new skills

Logging off Alan found that sunlight was now trying to shine through the curtains, this was a weird and completely new experience for him as he would usually go to bed early, not stay up late playing games. He was now up in time to for sunrise, for a moment he was tempted to throw open the curtains and watch the sunrise, however he just looking at the sunlight under the curtains was difficult and hurt his eyes in the end he managed to get into bed and promptly fell asleep as voices from the main room started to filter through the house.
Opening the door to Alan’s room Sarah first thought that Alan might still be playing royal road, however the sight that greeted her was a peace full one, the capsule was open and Alan appeared to be laid on the bed, ‘he didn’t even manage to get under the covers’ she thought as she quietly entered the room, stepping lightly she managed to cover Alan with the bed covers, without waking him, before the voice in the main room made her wince, they were being too loud, she thought in disgust as she retraced her steps heading in the direction of the voices.
The voices were coming from the main room and unfortunately she seemed to have missed most of the conversation that was happening between those that were present. Around the table in the dining room were four people her mum and dad sat on one side, while a close friend the student council secretary was sat opposite them, next to him was a teacher from school that they attended, the teacher was a good friend of their dad’s and lived locally, the air around the table could have been cut with a knife it was that depressing.
“So” her father said looking around the table as he noticed Sarah enter.
“He’s out cold, but keep your voices down,” Sarah replied to the unspoken question.

“He will not like what’s happened that’s for sure,” her mother said looking like she could blow a fuse at any moment, the student council secretary just hung his head in shame.
“It’s not your fault lad,” her father said kindly.
“Isn’t their anything we can do?” her mother asked trying to remain calm.
“It’s called a rock and a hard place for a reason,” the teacher said “He will have to go to counselling that’s the condition or he may end up getting kicked out of school.”
“And the changes he asked for?” Sarah asked.
The student council secretary just shook his head, “The budgets all gone into the renovation of the class rooms, we’ve had the CDT department build ramps for the steps but there, a stop gap measure and no good.” He said.
“He will have to work in the library is all.” The teacher said calmly, “we have allocated a disabled capsule for him so he can join in with the new lesson structure.”
“So he has to go to a councillor one day a week and then spend 4 days a week at a school that doesn’t care? This isn’t going to go down well, he might actually destroy something,” Sarah said clearly worried.
“I think we should drop it all on him in one go and get everything out of the way.” Her father said
“After diner,” her mother said nodding her head in agreement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
“Today’s DINNER will be a light one,” Alan’s mother informed him detecting his slow advanced into the dining room.
“Ow looks like someone was up all night,” his father said from where he was sat at the table studying the laptop in front of him.
“Yeah i finished training, wanted to get it out of the way,” Alan finished pulling himself up to the table.
“Really anything good?” this father asked looking up from what he was working on his mother could be seen in the kitchen preparing diner.
“No idea, we best wait for Sarah to get back or i will just end up repeating myself, when she interrogates me,” Alan finished looking annoyed something didn’t seem right, it was like his parent’s were trying to hid something from him he thought.
“Well that’s certainly true, Don’t blame her though she has looked up to you ever since you started competing at the national level, i think your accident hurt her more than it did us, so don’t hold it against her if she starts acting like a second mother.” His mum said from the kitchen.
“I’ll try not too”
“Talking about Sarah isn’t she bringing a friend over today?” his dad asked.
“She said something about it last night in the dungeon,” his mum replied.
“No idea as long as it’s not a fan girl i’m not bothered.” Alan said looking at the roof in disgust at that idea, before turning his attention to his dad, “so what else has happened whilst i was asleep.”
“You picked up on that Hu,” his dad said slightly dejected.
“What did you expect he has my brains,” his mother called out.
“We, no you have a slight problem,” his dad started. “We had quests this morning i won’t go into details but the short side is this is none negotiable. You have to go see a therapist one day a week. You’ll also have to do all your school work in the library, instead of a class room,” his dad said looking angry.
“Ow, i take it the student council messed up when,” Alan said managing to remain calm.
“Yep that pretty much hits the nail on the head.” His mum called out “On the plus side there getting you ramps for the steps and a disabled capsule for royal road, so you’ll be able to join in with the lessons when they become available.”
“Really i’ll believe that when i see it.” Alan said his voice dripping with anger.
Unfortunately it seemed like everything had been decided for him, and his sister managed to have the best timing in the world as she arrived home from school with her friend in toe, which meant that all Alan could do was put his anger aside and eat diner, his breakfast whilst listening to their convocation about fashion and the usual girly talk to which most men are totally oblivious.
When the talk turned to royal road, Alan was ready to make a hasty retreat not wanting to make a fool out of himself in front of Sarah’s friend, it turned out that she was a class mate from school called Clair, Alan had seen her in school but had never talked to her. Sarah seemed to have other ideas though and promptly jammed her foot behind one of the wheels of his chair.
“Say Clair you’re in the north right?” she asked as Alan grabbed the wheels so he could escape.
“Not fair Sarah,” Clair said clearly upset.
“No it’s not fair that the others in class tricked you in to starting in the north.” Sarah said “that’s why i said i was going to help you.” She finished making sure that her foot had been able to completely stop Alan from escaping .
“Sarah how can you help me you’re in the south? I’m in liberty city in the north.” Clair asked depressed. As the others watched on in silence Alan finally giving up on trying to escape.
“Hehe that’s where my secret weapon comes into play,” Sarah said smiling evilly at Alan which left Clair confused.
“What my idiot sister is trying to say is that you’re not the only one who started in the north.” Alan finished cutting his sister off.
“I’m not?”
“No you’re not, i’m in the north and as it happens also in liberty city, and if you want I suppose we can team up for a while.” Alan said watching his sister as she nodded her head.
“I’m collecting feathers for you in the south so this is your way of paying me back.” His sister said smiling sweetly.
----------------------------------------------------
As the dinner wound down the talk turned to how long the two had been playing and what they could do together with Sarah and Alan’s parents putting in their advice when they deemed it necessary. Both of them would start hunting as soon as they got online agreeing to meet up in game.
