Chapter 39

The entire building went silent.

Many of the customers had left screaming the instant that man had exploded and decorated their clothes red.

The only remaining people were the staff who were too scared to move and some wandering cultivators who were never interested in what was going on in the first place. They were true cultivators who merely stopped in this town for supplies. As soon as everyone was gone, they resumed browsing.

At the front counter stood Relic and the still dazed purple hair girl.

“Miss?”

“Ah, Thank you very much!” The purple hair girl snapped out of her daze and bowed her head. Her countenance returned normal and did not seemed fazed by the man who combusted.

“You’re welcome.” Relic smiled.

“You are that boy from yesterday, are you here to pick up your items?” Relic had chosen to leave his items here for a small storage fee the last time he visited. He had planned to take them all in one go after he got everything he needed.

“Yes, but first I was hoping to sell some things first.”

The girl’s eyes suddenly sparkled. “Of course, please come with me!” She led the three to the same back room as last time.

“Now, what do you want to sell?” She asked, but her eyes slowly dropped to the white sword in Relic’s hands.

Relic smiled at her transparent expression. He lifted the white sword in front of her which she immediately looked at with intense fervor.

“A superior grade foundation weapon! Our store only has 12 superior grade foundation weapons.” She began to look at it in detail. “But are you sure? You both are new cultivator’s right? Most cultivators will never get a chance to wield such a fine weapon and can only hope to get a low or mid-grade one.” She gave a glance to Relic and Hana.

“Thank you for your concern but I prefer the spear over the sword; and my sister is still new and will not need anything this fancy for a while.”

“I see, then how does 2300 spirit coins sound?”

In terms of value, a single spirit coin was worth around 10 gold coins. 2300 spirit coins was the equivalent of 23,000 gold coins!

Relic was surprised. It was actually a fair price for the weapon. Had this been someone else, they would have tried to low ball him.

“Kids sure are more honest…” He couldn’t help but chuckle.

The girl tilted her head in confusion.

“Okay!” He said.

“Great, let me get the money and…”

“Actually I have one more thing to sell.”

Relic retrieved the beautiful flying sword from Jiro.

“This…Is a speed type flying sword?” She was shocked. Flying swords were incredibly rare and only reserved for the rich and powerful.

Flying swords were generally only used in the foundation realm. When a cultivator reached the foundation realm, they were able to freely circulate their qi outside their body and on to objects. Doing so allowed them to manipulate object in various fantastical ways.

The flying sword was the greatest form of object manipulation which allowed cultivators to soar in the sky. Flying swords were classified as attacking types, defense types, and speed types. Every type had its own merits and cultivators chose them based on their own preferences.

“Who is this boy? How could he possibly get such rare items?” she pondered. Any other cultivator below the spirit realm would salivate for items like these and would never think about selling it.

“Are you sure you want to sell this as well? A flying sword will be incredibly useful to you in the future.” She asked concerned.

“We are still beginner cultivators. It is going to be a while before we get any use out of these items. It is better for us to just have enough money to supplement our current cultivation Realm.” Relic said.

The girl nodded in surprise. There truly weren’t many who had the same thinking as Relic did. Most people looked in anticipation of the future while the little boy in front of her only cared about their present circumstances.

“Very well, I can offer you 6000 spirit coins for everything.”

Relic nodded in agreement. “Then I will like to buy some things now. I would like one mortal ring as well as everything on this list.” He handed her a list which listed several cultivation resources, herbs, pills, seals, metal spears, as well as a variety of items useful to him.

The girl looked at the list which had obviously been drafted carefully beforehand. She took out a piece of paper and began to carefully calculate the costs.

“Okay, everything you have requested will cost around 1300 spirit coins. Also you requested a mortal spatial ring which will cost…eh?” her eyes suddenly snapped open.

“Did you say you want a mortal spatial ring?!” she seemed to only now process what he was asking for.

“Yes, do you have one?”

“Y-yes…but…”

Mortal spatial rings were a subset of the regular spatial rings used by cultivators. They were rings specifically made for mortals to wear and were operated purely by intent. However, mortal spatial rings were inferior in every way to regular spatial rings used by cultivators.

Mortal spatial rings had a maximum space of 3 cubic meters while the lowest grade spatial ring had a minimum size of 9 cubic meters. Mortal spatial rings were also much more difficult and expensive to make over regular ones as the artificer making the rings had to use a special material to make it. This special material required the artificer crafting the ring to have deep insight and knowledge to carefully craft the item and could be said to be 3x harder to make than regular ones.

Thus, over time, mortal spatial rings were forgotten and no longer in circulation. No mortal would try to buy such an expensive spatial ring as the cost would be better put to use in learning cultivation instead. Regular cultivators also would not sink the costs to buy a mortal spatial ring as the money could be used to buy much more useful items.

“Mortal spatial rings… we do have one but the cost is around 4500! I do not recommend you spending so much money on such a ring especially since you two are already cultivators!” She quickly said.

Relic was again shocked by the pure nature of this girl. Any other shop keeper would be thrilled to get rid of an item which no one wanted and at an exorbitant price. Yet she still thought in the best interest of her customers. Relic couldn’t help but praise the purple hair girl.

“Thank you, but this item is truly important to me and I require it to continue my cultivation journey.” Relic smiled.

“Okay…” The purple hair girl saw that Relic was already set in his ways and would not change his mind. “Please wait one moment.”

After a half hour wait the purple hair girl came back with a small wooden box. She opened it and revealed a plain metal ring.

“Every item you requested has been placed within the ring as well as your remaining 200 spirit coins.”

Relic took the ring and was just about to place it on his ring finger when he suddenly stopped. His gaze lingered on his ring finger as if another ring was still on it.

“Master…”

When a cultivator forms a master-disciple relationship with another, the disciple would normally receive a spatial ring as a gift of acceptance from the master.

Relic’s first gift from his master was also a spatial ring and although it was a fairly low quality one. He treasured it like it was the most precious gift he had ever received.

Relic was slowly reminiscing his time with his master when a little girl’s voice sounded behind him.

“Brother?” Hana suddenly called out. She had been sitting on Jiro’s back the entire time and did not make a sound. However, seeing her brother smiling at his finger made the atmosphere of the whole room weird and so she called him out.

He snapped out of his daze. “Ah, yes, thank you.” He said to the purple hair girl

He put on the mortal spatial ring on a different finger before looking at its contents. With merely a thought, the space of the ring was open for him to view and he quickly saw everything he asked for was there as well as the items he previously purchased.

“Will that be all?” she asked with a smile.

“Actually, there is something else.”

Relic went towards the two large bags still on Jiro’s back. He quickly decided to store one of the bags into his ring and took one of them down.

The items he received from defeating Tang Wu had allowed him to receive many of the items he required. The money he would get from the truffles would no longer satisfy the costs of the remaining items he required.

Thus, there was only one thing left to do.

“I was wondering if you would have a look at these”

He dumped the truffles onto the floor.

The purple hair girl immediately fell into a state of shock.’

“These are truffles!”

She suddenly made the connection. “Are you the supplier of the Moon Lit Dining Hall?!”

“Yes.” Relic did not deny it. This girl was truly pure so he was not worried he would do anything to him regarding that information.

She looked at the truffles and broke off a piece. She inhaled the heavenly scent and immediately placed it in her mouth. The piece seemly melted in her mouth and she made a cute dazed expression.

She quickly recovered and wiped away the drool from her mouth.

“Grandfather taught me there are good truffles and bad truffles. On their surface, they are difficult to tell the difference but if you can smell them then you will immediately know which is which. When I tried the truffle dish at the Moon Lit Dining Hall I immediately fell in love with it. She spoke with great enthusiasm. But…why are you bringing them here?”

“Actually, I can no longer harvest these truffles safely. There are many people who want to find who had supplied that restaurant with those truffles. I simply would not be able to compete if this were to happen so I thought maybe Heaven’s Treasures would like to buy the information from me.”

“You mean the location where these truffles are grown?!” She asked, wide eyed.

Relic nodded.

If she was able to secure the method of finding these truffles then wouldn’t that mean a steady income for their place? She entertained the idea where her grandfather would be proud of her for extracting such information!

However, as she remembered something, she quickly became solemn. “I’m sorry, but I do not have the authority to make such a decision. My grandfather has once told me that the Sun and Moon trading group holds a monopoly over the truffle secrets. He told me to never deal with them so I’m unable to buy them.” She bowed apologetically.

“That’s no problem then.” Relic was just about to pack up the items when suddenly the door to their room slammed open.

An elderly man entered into the room.

“Grandfather, you are back early!” The purple hair girl rushed towards the elderly man.

“Mina, I heard there was trouble.” The elderly man said, concerned.

“Ah, there were some people who tried scam us, asking for spirit coins for an item which was completely wrong!”

“It seems you were able to deal with it.”

“Mn, actually it was all thanks to this boy.” She pointed to Relic.

“Hello, sir, my name is Relic.” He gave a slight bow.

The elderly man had a large smile and was about to shake Relics hands when he suddenly caught a glimpse at the truffles on the floor.

“Mina…where did these truffles come from?” he asked solemnly.

“Those were from me. I was wondering if Heaven’s Treasures wanted to purchase the location of these truffles but it seems that….” Before he could even finish his sentence the elderly man flashed his arm towards Relic.

Relic quickly tried to block the attack but the speed of the attack was faster than his body could react.

The man grasped onto Relic’s neck and held him in the air. Relic tried to escape his clutches but he quickly realised this man was too powerful for him to do anything.

“Brother!” Hana screamed out

Jiro quickly got into a battle stance but he could feel an overwhelming power coming from this man.

“Grandfather, what are you doing?!” The purple hair girl yelled.

“It’s too dangerous to let him live. Mina, I’ve told you before that the Sun and Moon trading group holds the entire distribution for truffles, right?”

Mina nodded.

“They have held the sole distribution of these truffles for thousands of years. Over the years there have been some individuals who by chance, found out the secret of where these truffles were grown. However, never once has that secret been exposed. Do you know why?”

“N-no…”

“They were squashed like bugs! Their friends, their family, and even the city they were living in were all exterminated! Mina, you should realize our establishment is a part of the Jade Flower trading group. The three major trading groups within these lands all know about the secrets behind each other’s monopolies. If this boy releases the information here, the group might implicate us as well thinking we were the ones that leaked it. We would serve as sacrificial lambs and even your mother and father may suffer the consequences!”

Mina paled as she staggered several steps back. She had never known how truly complicated everything was.

Seeing her granddaughter understand what he was saying, the elderly man began to slowly squeeze the life out of Relic’s neck!

Relic’s face immediately turned red and it looked like he was struggling for breath.

“No, leave my brother alone!” She tried to reach Relic but Jiro was holding her back. “Jiro, let me go! Brother is dying!” She cried. But no matter what, Jiro would not all her to take another step. He quickly put her under her wing and tried to exit the room.

“Who said you could leave?”

The elderly man immediately sent the power of his cultivation which made Jiro halt and drop down. Even though Jiro had a broken beast core, he was still strong enough to deal with early stage foundation realm cultivators. Even high level foundation realm cultivators would have to put in some effort if they wanted to catch him alive. However, this man merely put forth a little pressure to stop Jiro. He was undoubtedly a cultivator at or above the Spirit realm!

“You two must also know the secret location of these truffles, right? That means neither of you can leave!”

Just as he was about to squeeze the last breath from Relics body, Mina came and held onto his arm

“Mina, what are you doing?” He spoke coldly.

“Please, don’t kill them.” Tears ran down her face.
