43.The Battle of Fire and Blood

43.The Battle of Fire and Blood

Irene jumped off the captain. His head was planted into the earth, but was still very conscious. A pillar of fire erupted from where he lay. The soldiers stepped back in fear.

“Get back. He’s getting serious.”The fire raged on. Once it dispensed Sera stood alone. His hair in a burning blaze. It waved around. He held his sword in hand, which was burning just as his hair did.

“Wow. You must really like fire.” Irene said rudely to the captain. She took the pins from her hair and let her beautiful cyan hair flow down.

“I’ll show you just what I really like!” Sera yelled as he jumped to the woman. Irene retrieved her sword and clashed with the man. Their combined strength caused a massive wave of fire and wind. The soldiers and fighters from all sides of the battle. Were shown their strength. The power shattered the crystal holding the barrier.

Grimm smiled at noticing the strength.

“What a woman.”

The two moved back from each other. The area around them was half burned and half cracked apart.

“Those two are insane.” A solider sung out as he watched. Most of everyone stopped to see the ongoing fight. Mostly due to the fact that neither could stop them if they wanted, and whoever won would be ready to face the rest.

Sera swung his sword down to Irene. It’s range improved reaching from the distance between them. Irene dashed forward completely ducking under the sword. She raced over to him, and once close lifted her knee directly into his face. She tried for another punch to force him to the ground. Yet Sera intercepted her. Grabbing her large arm and swinging the woman down behind him.

The strength to make that toss made him be lifted into the air, he took that opportunity. The captain generated a largefist of fire that crashed into Irene at incredible speed. It exploded engulfing Sera as well. The soldiers continued to move back in fear. The fire set in the area around them.

Irene quickly rose. Uppercutting the man. Sera tried for his quick return, but Irene already struck his stomach. The captain flew back. The sorceress summoned a multitude of vines from both sides of herself. They formed together into large blunt instruments. She sent one towards the still flying man. Sera noticed and engulfed his blade again. Once his feet were flat on the ground. He raised his sword and slashed down, cutting the large vines down the middle so they passed him. Then Irene sent the other.

Sera reacted immediately. He jumped up and landed on top of the vines, then began running. Each step he left behind left a burnt mark as his body was heating up. Once close to Irene, he jumped to her. The woman dropped her control of the vines and gained focus on the man on fire. Sera punched Irene in the face with his own burning fist, faster than she could react. The woman fell to the ground. Sera stood over her proudly.

“They call you the burning mountain. You stupid knights and your stupid names. Always needing something to justify your existence.” Irene said as she lifted herself up with worry. However she slumped over quickly onto her knees. Her nose and mouth were bleeding. Her sword lay right before her. Some of her blood trickled down and onto it. “I wonder, what happens when you lose that name? Tell me. Have you seen the flower bloom in darkness?”

Irene grabbed the sword and stabbed it into the ground. A red aura pushed Sera back. The man looked up and saw his opponent picking herself up. The woman let the blood run from face as she forcefully pulled the blade from the earth. Then he saw as the blood on her sword began to expand and cover the whole blade. Marking it completely red, and giving off an aura in similar color.

Irene started to approach Sera. The captain ran forward with his blade ready to strike. As he approached Irene immediately slashed her red blade at him. It was fast. Sera evaded at the last possible second. He got to her side and went for a thrust, yet she quickly stepped away. Her sword continued to come down at him ever so quickly.

The captain would either deflect, dodge or hold off her strike. Irene jumped back. Then jumped up and brought the sword down to him. She swung fiercely while stepping around him. Sera followed keeping up with her assault. Irene came for an upward slash, which caught Sera sending him backwards. She didn’t let up, and charged while he was still airborne and punched the side of his head, bringing him down to the ground.

Sera became infuriated. He regained himself quickly and dashed into the woman and stood on the other side of her. Leaving a trail of fire while his sword was pointed out. He managed to get the sorceresses under her chin and shoulder. Drawing more blood from her. Then he quickly turned ready for the next strike. His blade extended again, this time going for the woman’s neck. Irene returned slightly, and caught the blade with her undamaged arm. She gripped the blade, and swung it along with it’s master. She jumped up into the air and slammed Sera down again as he held the blade. But then forcefully disarmed him by pulling the sword for his hand and taking it as her own. As she descended her leg extended and landed on the man's torso. Causing immense pain as he coughed up blood.

“This can’t be happening!” A Hulion soldier yelled as he watched.

“Captain Sera! Get up! You can’t let her beat you!” Another solider cried.

“I’ve never seen Lady Irene fight like this.” A Fayspell sorceress spoke.

“All those years with Evangelos must have helped.” Another sorcerer said.

Sera looked up to Irene as she stared sternly at him.

“E….Evangelos? So….you’re with….that bastard?” Sera spoke through his pain.

“What do you know about him? Irene asked menacingly. It didn’t scare Sera despite his current position.

“That...bastard. Said he was looking for something.” Irene pressed on his chest, making him cough more blood.

“And!”

“The king sent him to Alfheim Island. I knew you all looked so familiar.” Sera continued.

“So that’s where the idiot went.” Irene said to herself.

“But don’t think…..I’ll LET YOU LIVE TO SEE HIM!” Sera yelled. His giant materialized behind Irene and struck her sending her flying. Yet she quickly regained herself and started to run at the fire giant.

“It’s been a while since I’ve used this power. So be grateful that you’ll be killed by it. And don’t even think of taking on Evangelos even if you live. There isn’t a chance in the world for someone like you to beat him!” Irene yelled as she jumped to the giant. Sera looked to the debris around them. He made the giant absorb all the destroyed earth around them. Turning it into a fire and rock giant. Irene still came at it. She dropped both weapons and used just her fist. The blood surrounding her sword coated her damaged arm. The giant returned with it’s own fist. Yet was unable to stop the woman. Once they collided Irene shattered it’s arm with a single strike. The rocks turned to pebbles by her attack.

Sera took a chance to strike her back. He picked up his blade and slashed at her again. Making her fly back, and she fell down. The attack cut her stomach.

“No more games. Let’s finish this.” Sera proclaimed. He turned to the giant and saw it’s broken arm. He crushed the ground next to himself. Allowing the giant to reform its arm. Then it knelt down to Sera. it’s chest opened revealing it’s fiery inside. The captain stuck both hands slowly inside the fire, then stepped in himself. However it then went on all fours and started to change.

Irene placed her hand on her stomach and felt the blood. She clenched her fist and struck the ground. The woman stood herself up but was quickly reduced to going on one knee. Until a shadow loomed over her. She looked up to see a large dog made of molten earth. It had sharp stalagmite teeth and burning eyes. It’s tail merged with the Sera’s sword.

The beast quickly tried to bite Irene. She evaded back, then kicked it in the face. Sending the mutt away from her. She then dashed over to her sword and picked it up. The dog leapt into the air and came down swinging it’s flaming sword tail at the woman. Creating a giant fire ring trapping Irene in. Irene transformed the sword back into a staff. She summoned a vine to launch her into the air. Then summoned more to send at the beast. So many it started to wrap around the creature. But Sera, who was inside, started to evade. Then started to climb the vines. Irene jumped at it. She grabbed the roof of it’s empty eye socket, and twirled it around then slammed it to it’s back. The impact caused a near meteor like explosion.

Sera from within regained composure. He stood back up and stared at Irene. Then started to run away from her to the nearby forest.

“NO YOU DON'T” Irene yelled as she gave chase. She summoned more vines to shoot at the dog, while Sera started firing fireballs from the beast's mouth. Both kept up evading each other. The beast left burn marks from it’s sprint. Irene followed without faulting in her movement. Then her staff transformed once again. This time to a bow. She brought a smaller vine to her. The sorceress took aim and fired her arrow.

“Bloodshot Vine!” The arrow struck the dog explosively. Sera was also hit by the attack. Yet it didn’t fall over. It became just as enraged as Sera did. So much he charged at the woman who was still recovering from firing the shot. He grabbed her by the waist with his mouth. Irene was able to hold the mouth open just a little, but one tooth did pierce her side. Her blood began spilling everywhere as the dog ran around, even going into the woods. Irene's head was hit on many trees and even broke some. But the sorceress didn’t fall. Sera threw her out his mouth.

She laid in a pool of her own blood, a vast amount from her large body. The beast started to walk away. Leaving the woman to die.

Yet Irene’s blood seeped into the grass, the trees, and the dirt. A field of bloodshot flowers rapidly grew around the woman. They grew on the ground, the bark of the trees and even the leaves. Until nearly the whole forest was comprised of these flowers.

The beast walked away to get back to the soldiers. However it saw everyone’s glares at it, or so what was going on behind it. A shadow loomed over the beast.

“Holy shit.” Grimm exclaimed as he saw what was behind the dog. It was a blood flowered covered forest giant. Nearly thrice the size of Sera’s fire giant.

Sera stayed aggressive. The beast started to run up to the forest woman. However it started to climb up with it easily. Everyone saw that it began to glow brighter. It was preparing to blow itself up and take the titaness down. However, once it jumped close to her face. It was grabbed by it’s torso, and slammed down into the ground. The beats shattered to dust and embers.

Sera remained. Freed from his beatial armor. The forest giant gathered energy. Taking the red color from the flowers and making a sword made of blood. Irene brought the sword down one Sera. Generates a massive slash that tore through the earth and flew through the water. Parting the waves, and leaving Sera’s nearly dead body on the ground. Irene wasn’t able to kill the man, but the job was done.

As it was for her too. The sword dissolved and the forest giant fell to its knees. Irene fell from the giant and onto the earth. Sera saw the woman fall down before falling unconscious. All he wondered was if his wife was safe from any potential damage.
