Up the stairwell, Susie approached a doorway and slowly pushed it open. She peeped through the crack of the door as Sora stood behind her.
“What is in there?” Sora asked.
“A golem in a suit of armor, and two chests. One of the chests is a mimic.”
Sora hated mimics. They couldn’t be detected and they could instantly kill a player.
“Can we sneak past them?” Paul asked.
“No, we can’t. The golem will wake up when we step inside. We have to fight it to move on.”
“What about the mimic?” Amy asked.
Susie rubbed her forehead. “It killed me when I opened the wrong chest. But it probably won’t attack if we ignore the chests. Touching it was my dumb mistake.”
“What if we open the correct chest?” Paul asked.
“I am not sure. The chest might have loot, but it would be safe if we ignore them both.”
“Do you remember which chest you opened?” Amy asked.
Susie shook her head. “I don’t remember. It happened so fast, my mind couldn’t catch a memory of it. We should avoid the chests.”
Paul rolled his eyes. “What a waste of loot.”
Sora thought so too, but he agreed with Susie. Losing your life over digital treasure wasn’t worth it. They needed to save their resurrection potions as much as possible. What if the dungeon boss has strong attacks that were worse than the traps? Granted, Susie’s decision was better.
“Just get ready when we step in,” said Susie.
She opened the door wide and stepped through as her party followed her in. Sora drew out his blade to get ready.
The chamber was about ten feet tall with a wide square tile floor. A red carpet laid across the stone floor beneath an eight-foot-tall suit of armor. While standing on a cube pedestal, it held a large shield and a one-handed ax. Next to it were two chests on both sides of the pedestal.
On the right side of the chamber was another stairway between two torch poles. Another wooden door was at the top, similar to the one on the second floor.
Susie looked around. “My tracking item isn’t here. I guessed it expired when we arrived.”
“Can you leave another one if we die here?” Paul asked.
“I brought one just in case. But I have confidence we can beat this dungeon.”
Sora has little doubts, but he wasn’t worried about them. Having faith kept players from giving up on their quests.
When the group strolled toward the center, a stone wall dropped in front of the left side stairwell. And another one dropped over the first stairwell. There was no escape now.
“Here it comes!” Susie shouted.
The armor suit stepped off the pedestal and marched toward the party.
Golem Knight
Level 26
HP: 260/260
“It is only a little stronger than the Basilisk,” said Amy.
“Don’t count on that,” said Susie. “This thing is stronger than it looks.”
The golem stopped and tossed its ax toward the party like a boomerang.
Golem Knight used Ax Throw!
Sora and the others leaped apart in opposite directions. The ax swung past them and twirled around back toward the armor suit. With its left hand up, the golem caught its ax.
Sora got up and charged.
Rodan used Strong Strike!
“Sora, that will not work!” Susie shouted.
Sora swung his big sword toward the golem, but it blocked Sora’s blade with its shield.

Golem Knight used Shield Block!
Golem Knight immune to attack!
“Crap!” Sora leaped back before the golem swung its ax toward him.
Golem Knight used Ax Strike!
After the blade missed him, Sora ran toward Susie. “How do we defeat it?”
Susie pointed her staff at the golem’s horned helmet. “There is a magic gem inside its helmet. Hitting the gem will damage the golem.”
“So we just have to-”
Golem Knight used Ax Throw!
Sora turned and saw the ax flying straight toward his face.
Korsol used Divine Shield!
A glowing yellow shield bubble appeared around Sora. Then the ax bounced off the shield.
“Pay attention!” Paul shouted.
“Sorry!” Sora replied.
“I will knock off its helmet so I can hit its weak spot,” said Susie. “Just keep it away from me.”
Fighting the golem on her own must have been difficult for Susie. After finally defeating the animated construct, a mimic ate her without warning. But now she has a team, she won’t face more trouble again.
“Okay!” Sora turned to Amy. “Amy, distract this thing with me. Paul, protect Susie. She knows that thing’s weakness.”
“Alright!” Amy and Paul shouted together.
Sora sprinted past the golem while Amy followed him. They stopped in front of the chests and Sora whistled. "Hey!"
The Golem Knight stopped and turned around.
Sora and Amy waved their arms for their attention.
"Over here!" Sora shouted.
"We are better targets over here!" Amy added.
The inanimate object growled and marched toward the players.
Villa used Sun Bomb!
Susie’s energy attack hit the back of the golem’s head, knocking its helmet off. Its power gem was located where its head was supposed to be. The gem was its head!
“Attack its gem now!” Susie shouted.
“Let me try this!” Amy approached the golem and winked her eyes at it.
Scarlett used Charm!
The Golem Knight lowered its ax and shield, facing Amy. Although it has no face, Sora could tell the construct became attracted to Amy. It won’t attack her for three minutes.
“Good move, Amy!” Sora dashed toward the golem and howled.
Rodan used Howl!
His attack power boosted up to 40.
Up close toward the golem, he leaped toward the golem’s gem and spun his blade.
Rodan used Spinning Blade!
While spinning in the air, his sword cut through the gem, hitting the stone one time per second. That should equal four hundred damage in ten seconds.

Defeating higher level monsters helps a player level up quickly. But the higher the monster’s level was, the harder it would take to defeat it.
“Good job, Amy!” Susie approached the fox girl. “That charm skill truly works.”
Amy smiled. “I’m good at flirting!”
Susie turned to Sora. “And that attack was awesome, Sora. If you keep using that combo, you could defeat any monster in here.”
“Well, my mana could run out before we reach the dungeon boss,” said Sora.
“Just keep drinking your mana potions and you will be fine.”
“Good point.”
“Can we head up to the third floor now?” Paul asked.
Susie strolled toward the next stairway. “Yes. I’ll go first.”
Sora stopped and stared at the two chests. “What about the loot?”
“Leave them,” said Susie. “One of them is a mimic. Remember?”
Sora shrugged and followed his friends to the next floor.
Suddenly, he felt something sticky, wrapping around his right leg. It yanked him to the floor and pulled him backward.
He looked back and noticed a long tongue was pulling him toward the left chest which has an open mouth, full of fangs.
The mimic got him!
