Chapter #37 Expectations

Chapter #37 Expectations

While waiting with cannon man. I wondered when grand elder would come back.

After all I would love to meet his apprentice. Maybe she liked to drink as well.

we stood in silence both looking over the wall and waiting for grand elder to return. In what seemed like a very short time. They broke past the treeline and ran up to the gate.

Grand elder had his apprentice in tow I could still see the blood on her lips. He still had filled his bag with enough food I thought.

The gates opened and in they came. I wanted to say hi but it didnt seem like the right time to talk. It would seem his newly found apprentice required a healer to take care of her.

I would someday venture out into that forest myself. Cannon man seemed to follow my gaze out at the forest. "Dont even think about it. We cant lose you."

And yet you won't introduce me to your daughters. I said without turning.

"Im afraid of what you might gift them." He spoke trying to speak caussauly.

With 103 mana I souldnt make anything today.

Back to my room I guess. I picked up a bison meal for me to eat.

I came home to my little house and sat in the sun while eating my meal. The day past in that way until night came and I fell asleep.

The next day when I woke up I decided I would get to know how others crafted there rings. I asked great elder before he left to let me watch the crafting room .

He said yes, and I went to the crafting room and found a chair and waited until a crafter came in. It was a woman suprisingly she placed a 50 year old rabbits foot in the chest. Then she placed her hands on the chest and started pouring mana in. I could see her visibly get tired.

The sweat started dripping down her forehead. The diffrence was she had to generate and push mana into the chest in a forcefull way.

That was my advantage I should see how much mana was in the chest she had enough for a normal ring. SHe almost had enough for a rare. That must have been what she was trying to craft. Seeing she was going to only get a normal ring I decided to help by pouring in 20 mana. There was an incredible sensation I felt run up my arm. The ring was done.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

She collapsed on the ground truly without my help she would have failed. Even though she was to tired to move her eyes sparkled up at mine.

"Hello" I said to her. "Hi, thank you so much for helping I never could have done it without you." I managed to say "your welcome."

Eventually she recovered her strength and stood up and reached in the chest. Out cam a ring that had a plain rabbits foot displayed on it in black.

Upon inspection it was a leap ability ring. And it wasnt based on mana.

"Do you mind if I ask who this ring is for?" I asked. "No I dont mind I will be selling it in the shop upstairs." she responded.

"I need the money and a rare ring should sell for a lot" She said. "Whats your name?" I asked her

"Its daisy im one of the crafters that lives here. Ive been doing this for a long time."

After she gave me a hug I followed her upstairs to the shop were all the rings were hanging on the wall behind a large desk. It was imposing and the desk was long.

"Can you buy this from me?" she asked the clerk. He took it out of her hands and out it beneath a magnifine class o inspect the rings quality. "A rare ring and a leap at that. This is quite valuble." She spoke "Instead of money could I get tickets for eating at the cafeteria."

"Yes you can this ring alone is worth eating at the cafeteria for a month. Here is your ticket for a month woth of food." With a quick exchange evreything was done.

I followed her out of the crafting building in the middle of the outpost. She didnt seem to mind.

"Want to get a meal in the cafeteria with me." She asked

"Of course I would daisy." I responded joyfully.

I got my bison meal from the head cheif. Then went and sat down by her.The bison looked perfecly cooked. With a single mouthfull it felt like heaven.

She had gotten a avreage meal and we talked about many things. The most intresting was warriors who didnt use mana but had ability rings that allowed them to infinetly strenghten there muscles. My bones had been signifiganly strenghtened by the bison to the point where they would be very hard to break.

After the mwal I went home and just laid i the sunlight for the rest of the time. With my mana at 180 by the time I had to sleep I did alright for the day I thought as I drifted off to sleep.

The next day passed with me just saving up mana and staying in my room. I wondered to myself what daisy was doin today. Even if she had succeded in craft just a normal ring she would have had at least ten meals in the cafeteria.

Thats how valuble a single ring is. Especially with grand elder in the picture and the fact that he could use most any ring related to movement.

The day passed with another bison meal. The chef said that it was the last one for me. Just like the day ended.

I awoke the next day and did some training with the kunai and a piece of string and how the string could be used to swing on or set a trap or change directions quickly.
