Nat had gotten through the tutorial in record time. It wasn't that she knew what she had to do; it was that she had such a strong character. All the tests were easy, and she easily passed the threshold to reach the point where she could venture out. The rule of Tutorial Town was that you had to pass a certain threshold so that you didn't die too often.
Even though My Ancestors was bloody and brutal, the game devs didn't want you to stop playing because of something as stupid as being unable to get through an area because of a lack of basic knowledge. Now, the game didn't hand you knowledge, but they gave you basic survival knowledge.
"Who needs survival knowledge when you have power like mine?", Nat said to no one. Nat had a quest to find the Church. It wasn't in Tutorial Town; it was somewhere to the South of it. She didn't know how far, but the game would tell her.
Miles came and went until Nat finally saw something in the distance. It was small but churchlike. Once Nat got closer, she could see that, yes, it was a church, but was it the Church? Nat wondered this until a ping went off, and her quest log updated to say that she had found the Church.
Nat went inside the dilapidated church and saw no one. She wasn't quite sure what to do so she pulled up the quest.
Quest: The Church
Objective: Find The Church
Quest Log:
Locate the Church. It is South of Tutorial Town.
The Church found. Explore the Church.
Rewards: Power and Fame
Nat could see that all she needed to do was explore the Church, but it was multi-leveled, and she didn't see how she could get to the second floor.
"This is stupid; what am I even supposed to be doing?" Nat grumbled.
Shortly after she finished saying that, another ping happened. Nat quickly checked her Quest.

Quest: The Church
Objective: Investigate The Church
Quest Log:
Locate the Church. It is South of Tutorial Town
The Church found. Explore the Church
Explore the basement of the Church
Rewards: Power and Fame
“Explore the basement…. Where is the basement? All I see are boards piled up everywhere.”, Nat said.
Nat explored for the better part of an hour for this so-called basement. An hour was a long time for a church this small. She couldn't find anything but broken mortar and boards, as well as an upstairs. The only problem with the upstairs was that there was no way to get there. But the main problem was that there was no basement. At least none that could be found.
Nat decided after all that time that maybe it was underneath all this junk on the floor. With her Strength, moving all of it shouldn't be a problem.
In just a few minutes, Nat had moved most of the rubble and had found an entrance to a lower floor. Nat, cautiously, headed down… and down… and down. Nat had to be a half mile underground by now. Then she saw something, no felt something. Almost calling to her.
After a while longer she found the source of the feeling. It was a black well of ink; that was the best way she could describe it. Without really thinking she put her index finger in the liquid. It reacted violently and started clinging to her skin and crawling up her arm. As much as she tried to take it off, nothing was working. It finally found its way into her eyes.
You are a strong vessel. You will do well for us. We could take you over, but we won't; we will give you our power. The power to cower lesser people into subservience. Whether this be in the name of religion or just power, we do not care. Here you go.
Nat reeled back, and when she came to, she noticed that the ink pool was still there… unmoving. It was like what had happened had never happened. Until she checked her notifications.
