A few hours later, after taking a nap, Mindy is ready to head out with Ryan. Since she fell asleep in her cosplay, she's ready to immediately after waking up. Ryan offers her some food first, but she pushes it away.
"No, my body isn't ready yet," She says and walks out the front door.
Ryan follows after her, closing but not locking the front door whose frame he had to shatter. There are much less zombies near the shore, and the beach is entirely devoid of them. If Ryan had been to this beach a week before, he'd have noticed that much of it has been washed away.
> You gaze into the abyss, and the abyss gazes back into you. From the depths, a lone challenger comes to face you. Fight or die; this is the new reality of the world you live in.
"Did you get the message too?" Ryan asks Mindy.
"Yeah, it's kinda ominous," She replies, staring questioningly at the system message. Ryan looks past it, toward the lake, and watches swarms of black jellyfish monsters begin to gather at the shoreline.
"It's the jellyfish," Ryan says, pointing at the creatures.

"Watch out for flying spears," Mindy says, and teleports a hundred feet into the air. She levitates their, looking down at the lake's surface.
"The what?" Ryan asks, but is hit by one of the spears before Mindy can answer him.
The spear pushes him to the ground, but fails to pierce his skin. The same cannot be said about his jacket, which sustains a fairly large rip. After the first spear comes dozens more, each of them ricocheting off him and impaling the ground. Fed up with their assault, Ryan teleports to Mindy and flies.
"You could have told me about those earlier," Ryan says, upset that his clothes got damaged.
"Look at the water," Mindy points, ignoring Ryan.
A few miles from the shore, an enormous gray mass swims towards Ryan and Mindy. It has all the limbs identified by Ryan and Mindy earlier, so they must be looking at its back. Although the creature is enormous in size and its arms account for more than a third of its body length, it moves very slowly.
"We could try killing it from here with energy blasts," Mindy suggests, and Ryan shrugs. It's a good idea as any, and Mindy tries with the first energy blast.
The ball of pure energy, about an inch in diameter, zips down towards the giant sea monster at a rate of 600 feet per second. It's almost at the speed of sound, but the energy is like radiation in that it doesn't interfere with the air. When the sphere of energy hits the back of the giant sea monster, it goes it up a blast of steam.
"Hell yeah, that had to do something," Mindy says while watching steam rise up past them.
Slowly, the steam dissipates over the lake and into the sky, and the body of the giant sea monster is revealed. Several times faster than before, it closes in on the shoreline.
