Ryan sleeps through the night without any issues. Though a week has passed since Ryan last visited the house, not even the windows had been broken for a looter to get in. As opposed to laying under the van, sleeping on the couch in his parents' basement is much quieter and more comfortable.
'I need to make this my base,' Ryan thinks as he gets up in the morning. He stretches and walks to the bathroom, making use of its facilities.
Once he's ready to flush, Ryan takes the lid off the back and peers into the tank. As expected, there is no water inside. Using the same principle as when he built a wall with the concrete blocks, Ryan purchases a gallon of water from the shop for 5 credits. The result is a ball of water falling into the toilet's tank, with some water missing or splashing out.
With two gallons of water, Ryan has the tank almost entirely filled, so he flushes it and watches the waste in the bowl get washed away.
Ryan repeats this same process over the skin to wash his hands, then in the bathtub to give his body a soak. For 10 credits, Ryan can purchase a gallon of hot water, and use forty gallons to fill the tub. Instead of buying soap or shampoo, Ryan uses the bottles on the side of the tub.
After getting out of the bath, Ryan looks at his equipment. Not mentioning the minor garments, Ryan has an orange safety helmet, heavy work gloves with slight burns, a textile motorcycle jacket with slight burns and a hole in the back, slightly burnt jeans, and a slightly burnt yellow safety vest.
To replace the jacket, Ryan buys a bulletproof leather jacket for 12000 credits. It's black and cover's his entire torso, and has pockets for a handgun and extra magazines.
To replace the helmet, Ryan buys a black ballistic helmet with a glass face guard for 3700 credits. The face guard can flip up, so Ryan only needs to deploy it when things get bloody.
To replace the jeans, Ryan simply buys a new pair for 400 credits. After putting on the jacket, Ryan decides that bulletproof jeans would weigh too much. As it was now, he might have to abandon the jacket if an emergency situation came about.
To replace the gloves, Ryan buys a pair of motorcycle gauntlets. Their black to match the rest of his outfit, and cover a few inches past his wrist. On the palm, the gloves have quality grips to help when wielding a spear or sword, and on the knuckles they have a hard material for protecting. The gloves cost 2700 credits.
For a shirt, Ryan buys a new white tee for 50 credits. For socks and underwear, Ryan buys luxury pairs for a total of 300 credits. To be safe, Ryan replaces the batteries in the electric earplugs for 80 credits.
Since he's replacing much of his equipment, Ryan decides to forgo his lesser used tools. The hammer and the ice pick are placed on the coffee table to never be used again.
After putting on his new equipment, Ryan exits the house by the front door. He briefly thinks about replacing his shoes, but figures they're good enough for his needs.
