The nameless north shrine of Dove city, an ancient building that can be found high up on the green northern hill bordering the city.
A place no one visits anymore, forgotten by the tides of time, even the elders of the city don't seem to know or remember why such a shrine was ever built.
Only left there as a decoration piece giving Dove city some authenticity, a memorial with no memories.
To reach the shrine one must walk up the stairs of concrete leading to the monument gate, two people were taking those stairs ,a little girl and one young man holding a white backpack.
"See where you step Helena, those stairs are full of cracks, you might fall on your chin if you're not cautious enough."
"Ok mister but can you pick me up on your shoulders? I'm getting tired, we have been walking for half an hour now. " Replied Helena.
"Not now, be patient, i'll pick you when i see that you're truly tired and not faking it."
Big trees and a verdant green covered the stairs on either sides all the way from start to finish, making Luke's and Helena's journey to the gate easier as the leaves casted shadows that covered the shining sun behind them.
"Mister Luke, can you remind me of our task details?"
"Didn't you read the paper already? Are you that forgetful?"
"I did, i always do, i'm just making sure if you understood what are we supposed to do, i'm not the new one here, you are."
"Annoying brat, but you got a point, anyway, rumors say that you can hear someone playing sometimes in the north shrine, sounds of running steps that seems belonging to a kid, girly laughs, some playing ball bumping, when a local security guard wanted to check the origin of those sounds, he came back running down the stairs, all pale, saying he saw the misty floating ghost of a young girl ,wearing an old black school uniform and skirts and having long black hair, stairing at him dead in the eyes and telling him to go away."
"You forgot an important part Mister Luke."
"No i didn't, dont interrupt me, the guard told the locals that the girl looked like the youngest daughter of the Clover family, a family who moved out of Dove city after their little child, Elena Clover, got out to play and didn't return home, they searched for her for months with no result, and just decided to live somewhere else to cope with their loss, they say her mother still cry everyday to this day, seems like moving out the town didn't help them that much."

"You think the girl we're seeing is the same girl?"
"For now, the narrative in our hands seems to follow the guard's story, who knows, maybe she's waiting for her parents to find her, but that doesn't explain why she's scaring people who get near the shrine out, normally ghosts don't show themselves to living people without a cause."
"Mister Luke is smart as usual, smarter than my brother keep telling me."
"What that jerk of brother you got tells about me?!"
"Ask him next time you meet him, that's just between me and my brother."
"I'm not asking him, jerk, and you, don't take by heart everything he tells you, he may be a good brother to you but he sure have a lack of manners."
As luke's and Helena's exchange kept going, a wooden gate started appearing , a big scripture was engraved on top of it -North Shrine-.
"At last we're here, even if you didn't pick me on your shoulders..Luke! Someone near the gate!"
A slim boy with dark spiky hair wearing a hooded high school uniform stood near the gate, like he's waiting for someone, he didn't seem to notice Luke and Helena yet, up until Helena pulled his sleeve.
"Hey, mister, are you looking for something?"
"Huh? I thought no one comes here?" The boy then kneeled to Helena's face level "no little miss, i'm not looking for anything, just visiting this shrine, they say it's a good chilling spot when you have nothing to do and want to reflect on life."
The guy then smiled gently, a smile that made Helena blush and smile timidly back, the guy's calm and gentle manner seemed to have an effect on her.
"I see that you're not alone missy."
"Hey, i'm Luke, and this not very missy girl here is Helena." Luke then offered his hand to greet the boy. "We're here to have a little picnic too, we've heard the same from the locals, this shrine is good for picnics and breathing some clean nature air, it even have some old benches to sit on."
The boy shaked Luke's hand "I'm Eric, a student of Dove High school, nice to meet you Luke, you too Helena."
"It would be nice if you joined us in our picnic mister Eric"said Helena happily, but shyly.
"Oh sorry, i prefer being alone, just enjoy your time, i'll walk around the shrine a bit for now and look for some tree to lay on."
Disappointed, Helena only could accept his reply "As you want mister Eric, if you change your mind we'r still going to be here for a while."
"Okay, see you later then." Eric waved his hands and entered through the shrine gate.
"I smell two things." Said Luke.
"Huh? What do you smell?"
"First of all, i smell a little missy stupidly and naively blushing and asking a stranger to join us while we're assigned an important task just cause the stranger is slightly good looking."
"Heey, that's rude of you! Are you jealous of him?"
"Nah, you know well the last thing i'll be jealous of is an annoying girl liking me."
"I think my brother is right about you."
"The second thing is, that boy, he lied as we lied, he's here for something, chilly spot bullshit, who would walk more than half an hour on creaky stairs to an empty old shrine just to chill alone."
"How can you know that? You seem so sure."
"Call it instinct or sixth sense, i'm just uneasy about him."
At that moment, before Helena and Luke stepped into the shrine, wind blew so hard it moved the side tree branches and leaves, a screeching cry could be heard then all over the shrine:
" GO AWAY !! BEFORE I MAKE YOU REGRET YOUR STAY HERE!! "
Between the gate and the shrine doors, a ghost wearing a black shool uniform could be seen, staring with piercing angry looks at Luke.
"And here's our girl."
