Ch11: Respect the dead.

Ch11: Respect the dead.

Having many questions to ask, many thoughts to clear, Luke decided that it was time to get the answers he needed.

It was night, and the only thing that could be heard was the sound of the flowing fountain water and the gentle rustling of the tree leaves, Dove city fountain garden was as serene as ever.

The moonlight shone on a certain peculiar scene at the center of the garden, two guys sitting on opposing benches, one with a serious expression and the other contrasted it with a nonchalant attitude.

"Grumpy, what with this sudden midnight invitation?"

"I have questions, and i am expecting to have some answers from you."

"Oh, go on, ask me then, you're part of Shovelfield affiliated Soul facilitators now so i kinda have a responsability to wipe confusion of newbies."Replied Gill with a smirk.

"From what i understand, our main mission is assuring the depart of roaming ghosts to the afterworld before they turn into demons, and in that case eliminating them is a must, and the means of that differ, right?"

"Yeah, that's right."

"Then why we should bother with fulfilling the ghost wills while we have departing talismans that can make them vanish in no time? I'm not against the method, but knowing that there always was a more efficient way to do it make me want to know why it's only used as a last measure."

Once Gill heard what Luke had to say, his expression turned serious and his eyes looked at his host in an interested manner.

"You know Luke, you're smarter than you look."

"I dont need to hear that from you."

"Heh, as stubborn as ever." Then after a some silent seconds, Gill resumed his speech.

"I may seem like a guy who disregard what's happening around him, but i have my standards and principals , i respect the dead, and personally, i see that all the creatures should do the same, put some respect on their dead, fulfilling their last wills is one way to show them that"

Gill took then a slight pause and continued"Luke, my family way of doing things was always the same through our history with ghost dealings, if its not necessary to use the talismans, we'll take the time and be patient to see the ghosts departing from our world satisfied, unless they are about to turn into demons and already turned into ones, in that case you know the drill."

"You eliminate them, since the process is irreversible."

"Exactly that." Gill smiled.

"What if one of the soul facilitators ignore this principal?"

"Every one have their ways to complete the task at their hand, technically, none of my concern, but i'll let you know Luke, a part in me would always hate those who don't respect the dead."

Minutes passed in silence, luke thinking of what he should say next and Gill seeming to enjoy the night fresh air and slight coldness.

"That's all Luke?"

"No, tell me about demons, i know nothing of them, we just stopped the shrine ghost into turning to one though."

"If ghosts are the embodiment of a strong will waiting for someone to fulfill it, which postpone the departure until a soul facilitator comes, a demon is the embodiment of the ghost want to fulfill his way itself, by interfering directly with the living world, trading sanity and clear consciousness with the power of interfering with the physical realm, the stronger a demon is, the more chaos he'll do, hurting and killing people even and destroying stuff to reach his goal."

Gill resumed " Demons keep their original humanoid shape with the addition of other organs for more power, horns, wings, tails, they can even have mystical powers at times , to deal with them, S-items are necessary, Soul facilitators are tasked with exterminating them once they appear anywhere, some demons are blinded woth rage, and some demons are sinisterly smart, being fully cautious while contacting them is a major rule." He then turned to see Luke "I think i gave you all the needed info , is this enough for tonight?"

"It is, thanks for accepting my invitation, i really appreciate it."

"Oh, i always liked your manners, teach my adorable sister some, before i go,it's my turn to invite you to something, tommorow night, let's meet at the rooftop of the central city tower, i'd like you to see something, now bye!"

Gill then vanished toward the garden exit.
