56. Weary Heads & Hearts

56. Weary Heads & Hearts

As I lay my weary head upon the pillow

it’s difficult not to recall we’re I’ve been.

Then nature breaths wind into the willow

let the tapping of rain on thy window begin.

Heavy can be a heart that is full of regret

as mistakes take a toll on thy fragile brain.

My memory serves me well, I cannot forget

as my tears fall just as hard as the rain.

I think on her, and how things went down

missing the caress of her lips on thy brow.

I’m not the only broken heart in this town

but I miss her and wonder where she is now.

I screwed things up, she’ll never forgive me

yet I still long for her kisses to set me free.
