20. A Collective Solitude

20. A Collective Solitude

There were many days I suffered in solitude

and now the world collectively shares my pains.

For while everybody remains at home to brood

their hopes and dreams slowly circle the drains.

I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone, that's for sure

as we're forced to let the pandemic run its course.

But this is a tiny taste of what some of us endure

the silence that comes with separation and divorce.

Our days feel like months, the months like years

as the postponing drives many mad with paranoia.

This anger you see is normal, as are the many tears

it's like waiting for the longest winter to finally thaw.

Though this lock down lasts longer than we prefer

even it will come to an end, as nothing lasts forever.
