--Last Day of the Festival of Lights--Last Week--
Sonata was curious about Lloyd's office in National Postal Service, because some of them said that his office is very huge and even decorated by his hobbies--which she find very amusing. As she saw some Mail-Hunters were busy with letters and stamps for the other employees, she walked around until she arrived at the corner--until she accidentally bumped into one of the officers, causing the files on his hands to fell on the floor.
"Gah! Sorry, it's my fault..." Sonata apologized, helping the man in his late-thirties to collect the papers after she bent down to pick up the scattered folders. Then, she realized that it was Oswald--the guy who met them a while ago. Oswald remain stoic when he saw Sonata's presence, raising his left hand and shaking his head. "I don't need your help, Sonata," he said, earning a startled look on Sonata's eyes but later sighed in relief.
"Sir, I mean--Master Oswald, it's nice to see you again, sir," Sonata greeted, ignoring her mistake a few moments ago and continue putting away her embarrassment inside her--she always afraid of boss figures like this man. As she watched him gathering the papers and standing with the piles of files in his arms, and Sonata was already panicking because how can he bring them by himself. She choose not to disturb him when she quickly went around the corner to Lloyd's office.
"Still, Sonata... you're not even considered in becoming a Mail-Hunter," he murmured, seemingly remembering Oswald's cold gaze as Sonata froze. Her wolf ears twitched by catching what he says and later she heard it clearly, for some reason... why does he think she's not eligible? Of course, she admits that... but she's definitely going to prove herself to become one no matter what.
Sonata saw the office in the third floor, the door was huge as hell and she began to knock on the door twice. "Come in!" she heard Lloyd shouting from inside the room, and Sonata began to struggle to open the doorknob until the door creaked opened. Oh god, when her eyes widened in realization that her Postmaster-General is here.
Her white furred wolf ears perked up once the door is creaked opened, as the office is full of decorations that it looks like a vintage library and home, there's a small potted plants on the shelves and desks, photos on his desk table, on the walls, and even on some shelves. Her tail was swishing in surprise when she entered in awe, closing the door behind her until she saw the other two empty desks that facing directly to each other and Lloyd's desk was between them with a window. She opened the door and noticed that most of his expensive collection of stamps are kept in display, neatly stacked and also put in frames and a grand piano was placed across the room.
Lloyd was sitting behind his desk, signing up some of the papers until he snapped his gaze to see the Emissary in her dazed expression; still studying his office in awe. Sonata yelped in surprise, immediately bowing with clattering mess--greeting her superior. "Apologies, sir! Master Alastair said you called me? I was wondering why--" she began, closing the door behind her to prevent any other sounds and dust will come in the office. Lloyd chuckled while looking back to his documents, he added up his signature under the line.
"Oh, about that? He's just heading back to his own department after discussing your monthly evaluations," he answered casually, Sonata looked surprised when Lloyd turned his gaze to her. His purple eyes glistened with hope and an endless universe through his eyes, as he looked at her. "You don't have anything to worry about, Sonata--you're one of our Mail-Hunters," he assured, gesturing for her to sit at the sofa as she was very curious at the vintage design.
Sonata nodded as she plopped down on the vintage couch, relaxing before she pouted. "Master Oswald said something about me that I'm not eligible... am I really? He's not really giving me hope and more convinced that I'm not gonna become a good Emissary," she sighed, Lloyd blinked by the time he heard it--he seemed like he remembered something and the look of slight anger seems to flicker in his purple eyes. "Master Oswald always been like that to everyone, he's a perfectionist, and... a man of rules. Even all of us got discouraged by it," he said with a frown.
Sonata was staring at him, only the sounds of his fountain pen, scratchy sounds from papers as he flipping them, the ticking clock and the winds outside. "As you may know, Oswald is an Archmage... in secret. We're hiding his identity from the government because his family background is very... complicated," he said in hushed tone, eyeing if someone's outside. Sonata listened closely as Lloyd whispering in a low voice. "Why is that? Does Master Alastair, Master Lloyd and father also know about his family?" she asked.
He shook his head. "His true family background and past is very complex, full of secrets but the reason behind is for protecting himself from the powerful enemies, including a strong cult. We always came up with different background for him so people will only think that he's a nobleman's son, not knowing his true power as an Archmage is very dangerous."
That's why Oswald rarely shows his magic or power in front of anyone to expose him, he can predict the future very well--one of the reasons why his grades for recruitment are all correct since he can analyze his interviewees with his psychological skill and mind-reading. But, why did he choose to accept Sonata here? Suona also included? Both of their fathers Solvine and Suiren also accepted by him. What secrets did Oswald trying to hide?
Lloyd sighed as he closed the folders, and he looked a bit pale in the face. "But seriously, why did he talk about you anyway? You did nothing wrong, right? I forgot to remind you about that thing," he mumbled, and that thing referred to... the revealing truth that he already knowing about the connection between Winter Wolf and Spring Serpent in National Postal Service. That's the problem.
"He was saying that I'm not a perfect Mail-Hunter, even though he have seen my achievements here and did the training under Master Alastair. He's right, I'm not that perfect that he thinks," she whispered and Lloyd can only watch how bitter her expression right now, and he can see the sadness in her eyes. Sonata can't even share her recent concerns to Senja because he was reluctant to report the file of her concern and not only that--Oswald IS the Director-General of HR Department so it's no use to complain to him.
"You are... more of Mail-Hunter than you will ever be. We chose you because you have a chance to do the right thing no matter what sacrifices must be given, especially for the bond between the members," Lloyd said, standing up and approaching the sixteen-years old girll who was looking like a puppy begging to be scratched.
"M-Master Lloyd?"
"Oswald... never told us anything about the importance of each individuals and their duties in National Postal Service! That's what makes it perfect!" he grinned, gently ruffled her hair like he's giving his genuine comfort. And Lloyd knows that Sonata really needs the most comforting or she will cry herself to death in her sleep. "The first thing you need to do is relax, Sonata. No need to start a war with Oswald because he will give in either way or another; you already defeated the Cabernet Husk with everything you got. And look, many people in Canaria admired you and they wanted to become like you."
Sonata was smiling along the way, but in the background is Alastair--standing and listening. A smirk on his lips, seeing Sonata and Lloyd chatting casually and Alastair was grinning despite carrying his gunlance--he was proud of his apprentice and he always get into so many arguments with Oswald (thus Solvine had to pry them from fighting each other during working hours; Solvine preferred fighting each other like a wrestling match to vent the stress but no--they want to have verbal combat of how different of their perspectives).
"Suona also told me her recent concerns, apparently Master Oswald said something hurtful to her," Lloyd mumbled while massaging his left temple, still his calm smile remained but he was looking conflicted.
"To be honest, it was nothing new," Alastair said while leaning against the wall, eyeing the girl. "But, I might unable to stop arguing with him because he would always have those uptight personality to bring. And for Suona's case... she knows her weaknesses and strengths better than anyone so please don't worry about it. I was trying to cheer her up by taking her to parfaits or food but somehow, it always ended up with us getting extra things in our orders."
Sonata suddenly let out a laughed when Alastair told that embarrassing fact, Alastair was then shushed and sending Sonata a deadly glare (which she's afraid of him being serious so she quickly stopped and nervously fidgeted with her tail). At least, Alastair acknowledges her for her good deeds or whatsoever makes her happy--Alastair gives his good intentions even though it's hidden under his cold and brutally honest intentions that it accidentally show. "Likewise, your monthly pay is two billion."
Alastair informed Sonata as he gave her the paycheck, who was squealing in shock and delight to the two digits amount of her paycheck. "All of them including National Postal Service's registered license and national identity numbers, your rank and your wage money. For now, make sure you have your Automotive Gear weapon ready for the training--" he said, but Sonata already left because she always skip her mentor's trainings.
"SONATA NOCTURNA! I WILL DEEP FRY YOU IF YOU DON'T RETURN HERE IMMEDIATELY AND LISTEN TO ME!"
Alastair yelled, leaving her father Solvine dumbfounded at the conversation when he entered the office. "Your daughter keep skipping the training routine, please tell her to stay put," the Vice Postmaster-General uttered, his face looked deadly serious at the Deputy Postmaster-General. "Like I've told you to teach your own daughter and subordinate, the only one responsible here is YOU--Master Solvine..."
Solvine blinked, before he sighed. "Alastair, after reviewing and evaluating your qualification... I think you need to tone down the harshness.," he said, making Alastair paused--nobody have ever, EVER criticizing his trainings. Well, until Solvine appeared in his life and had the guts to criticize him. "Also, Master Oswald handed me some of the evaluation reports from the mentorship program... you're lacking of a certain ability to do that."
Solvine put away his papers and Alastair quickly snatched them from his hand, glaring at him as he reading the report carefully. His eyes narrowed, that bastard Oswald must've been assessing him the whole time after Alastair done training his own apprentice. "He's gonna get some from me for pulling that crap, I already told him not to interfere with my mentorship towards my apprentices!"
"Also, I'm not defending Sonata here, you did train her well to make her stronger and I appreciate how you taught her."
Alastair was relieved at the end, until Solvine added. "But, I wonder... why'd you only have Sonata as your apprentice? I thought you have more than one," he said, which the Emissaries outside the office went terrified and Lloyd gulped with a nervous smile. Alastair went completely silence, staring at the white-haired man. The other Emissaries wished him luck but poor Postmaster-General who can't react properly, he just chuckled nervously instead. "What?" Solvine said, cluelessof the gravity of this situation.
"Sonata and Claire are a package set, no matter what. You could help me discipline Sonata, so can you look after her until further notice?" Alastair said, smiling serenely until Solvine slightly paled comically and Lloyd shrieked by his friend'sterrifying request and threatening aura (since it's always a curse when an older person asked a younger person to keep a younger person under control and vice versa, it's a headache--and everyone knew of Suona and Sonata's mischief. Oh, in addition of Claire, Gabriel, Xinglan and Amaris who also included in their 'pack').
Solvine cleared his throat, folding his arms. "Does this 'potential' require any conditions?" he questioned. "Have the physical strength, pass the test and a good pupil," Alastair bluntly answered, pointing up to the wall when he crossed his arms. Solvine gulped, horrified at the qualification; how did Sonata managed to even get an apprenticeship on this terrifying Lancemaster? He took a deep breath, before he turned to him. "Master Alastair, you can't just reject other candidates just because they didn't have enough physical skills."
Alastair frowned, he can clearly remember a lot of incompetent idiots that barely passed the tests. He also remembered those idiots did some shit work for his last nerve and burned to a crisp when he showed zero empathy towards them. It made him disappointed, before Solvine continued. "Maybe you can test them out or train them for physical aspects, not everything are just about the physical strength," he said. "They might have the potential with their spirit. How about you make them pass the physical strength for the second phase instead? The first is their spirit."
Alastair pondered the idea for a second, perhaps it would work somehow. What about making a mental and emotional training instead of the physical training, just to test their will and heart for the Emissary work; the soul instead of physical, mental strength...? He also know they'll need motivation and determination. Actually, this... actually works for an idea. He should re-adapt the test he had originally proposed and it seems it gets attention from the Board of Directors.
"Heh, not a bad idea, Solvine Nocturna..." he responded, Solvine never noticed the corner of his lips curling slightly. Then, he walked out with his papers and Lloyd sighed in relief while looking at the windows that glimmers with lights in the night of Welkin City. "What was that all about before I get here?" Solvine wondered while sighing, he crossed his arms. "Well, it's always nice to have some diversity in recruits. I'm sure they will attract the true Mail-Hunters who has a strong spirit," Lloyd stated as he stood up, his long purple coat fluttered and swayed as he rubbed his chin. "Solvine, do you think there's other legendary beasts in Canaria... other than you and Suiren here? You know, both of you are part of the Four Legendary Fantastic Beasts."
Solvine stared at his Postmaster-General with such incredulous look and he can see Lloyd was chuckling slightly, he pondered and remembers the times... he sensed something odd in the air. "Let's see... there's remaining two of them, since there's four of us but... we never encounter them directly," he explained. "They are Summer Dragon and Autumn Thunderbird, they were feared by the government due to their destructive powers and how influential to the people of Canaria--praising and worshipping them as gods--believing that they will save them from the government and protect them from danger."
In the night of Welkin City, snow kept on pouring heavily like a blanket covering the land for its' long slumber for the season.
"For the sake of humanity and the bond between you and me,
Let this final melody be my only tribute to you."
— From The Lost Mail-Hunter, lyrics in their letter.
Sonata was reading the letter as she was sitting on the flat rock in the rocky hill of Selune, together with Claire and Gabriel as they were delivering letters--wearing their dark blue and white winter coat with gold platinum borders. The winter in Canaria was really something else, all of the nights felt unusually comfortable and blissful with the fresh scents of coolness from ice flowers, frost and a slight hint of ocean. "Huh, I wonder who was the Lost Mail-Hunters... and wrote this letter here..."
Sonata picked up the paper that says 'For the Starlight Starling' written with a big scribble of words and numbers, the envelope looks so tattered and scrawny it seems it must be centuries old or more--but can it? Is it the age where Winter Wolf and Spring Serpent begins the reign in Canaria? There's a lullaby written along with the message on the letter, the three were curious at the content. "Where did you find this?" Claire asked, while Gabriel squinted his eyes to read the message written on the paper that reveals the name of the sender--Circa the Archmage.

"Senja said that there's a missing Mail-Hunter, all three of the Masters can't even track them down, especially the lost Automotive Gear that they need to return... aaaannd that includes the Mail-Hunter's title and identity..." Sonata was grumbling, Claire sighed with a smile as she was drinking her hot cocoa with Sonata and Gabriel and watching the snow falling with a breeze from the river below the rocky hill. "I wonder, what does it takes to become one?" Sonata suddenly wondered, staring at the evening sky and the white puffs of snow as it was landing on her eyelashes, then moved to her nose and lips... before she sneezes.
"Bless you," Gabriel and Claire responded in sync as Sonata mumbled by herself for a moment, wondering in thoughts until they headed back to their path. "Oh right, we'll be having a Holy Night Delivery because it's going to be Advent soon, the National Postal Service decided to combine the occasion..." Gabriel hummed, he continued as they continued walking on the road with the snow covered. "The first is about Advent, and another one will be about giving out gifts...then there's a Hill of Prayer's Cathedral that will celebrate Advent soon. It means, we have to protect the Mass because there will be roaming Husk creatures."
The National Postal Service has been assigned to protect the Mass in the cathedral during Advent, meaning they will celebrate the Holy Night Deliveries once in a while just like the former events. There's so many emblems being created again for the participants, plus their salary will be doubled when they protecting the church so that's a deal. "Because the Festival of Darkness will be over soon, there will be a Festive Season Festival with large Christmas tree... and a light in the dark as a symbol of a new beginnings," Claire said with a smile, huddling close to Sonata with a smile along Gabriel.
"Advent."
Sonata never knew the season can make her feel blessed with so many festivities to celebrate, how many days before December and how many weeks left before Christmas? She couldn't care less because she wanted to have fun while delivering parcels. When they entered the the snowy village, Selune and passing through the park; a bunch of children gathered around in circle. It must be the time for some storytelling, where an old woman happily telling the tale to the audience.
But, she still curious about the Lost Mail-Hunter that Senja mentioned, that has the same lyric of a song she learned from father as she sung under the moonlight of Canaria with her voice ringing, soothing others as some of the churchgoers started to listen to her along with some stray cats, birds and occasional boars and cows. Then, one of the kids suddenly pulled Sonata's tail and made her yelled in pain, making her fell down flat to the ground on her stomach and made both Claire and Gabriel shocked when Sonata was clutching her own tail. "Sonata!" Claire yelled, Gabriel turned his eyes at the kids--his stern-looking gaze was scary enough that the children ran away.
Sonata has this weird ticklish feeling on her tail whenever someone touched her tail, she gets angry when that happens. Her tail is a no-touch-zone or else she will die and come back as some sort of a ghost as vengeance for the tail's perpetrator. "T-They don't understand how hard it is to wash my tail..." Sonata grumbled before she was hissed in pain, when Claire carefully lifted her and made Sonata grunted. Not even pulling her wolf ears but the tail? Oh, the pain she feels...
"This reminds me when your father Master Solvine was in his giant Winter Wolf form for physical check from Dr. Chamberlain, when he was busy with examining him... Master Lloyd came and accidentally stomped on his tail, creating a thunderous explosion that almost made him gets his ass fried," Claire muttered when that happened after Solvine reverted back into his human form, resulting Lloyd in his comical injuries of getting all sorts of damage that wasn't severe.
Sonata was then hugging her tail as she got back to her feet, her friend quickly helped her with pats on the back and a tissue to wipe off the snows off her coat. They said thank you to Claire and Gabriel, until the elderly woman beckons them over. The elderly woman's hair was wispy, her deep-set eyes made the child's soft brow furrow on her face. That evening, she reminded the children of the past and explained to them about their culture and tradition, even the connection between the Four Fantastic Beasts' legends.
"Long time ago, there were four beasts who were the legendary gods of the locals... the legends spoke of four beasts had a special duty for their special power. Winter Wolf and Spring Serpent for their loyalty and commitment for the people, Autumn Thunderbird and Summer Dragon to deliver the wind and storms to serve as Canaria's protection. They are widely feared by the government due to their destructive powers, thus they are worshipped by the people as gods. Despite the fear, the citizens and their descendants began to celebrate the Fantastic Beasts, hoping that they will preserve the nature."
Sonata hummed, knowing her father Solvine's true identity is a Winter Wolf--but she decided not to tell them about it. "While in the past, the Four Fantastic Beasts weren't welcomed by people and the government tried to capture them for reasons but failed due to how god-like they are and many worshippers were willing to risk everything to make sure the beasts are away from the government--often resulted in deaths and crimes were piled, all just for their safety--even from the anti-Canarian organization."
Sonata's eyes narrowed, but she calmed down since she didn't need to hear such sad stories. But still, a little conflict is always exists; perhaps there's something she need to investigate with Amaris and the others (if not, the Council would always know about it either way). "Do they have descendants, the beasts' descendants? Maybe they have something in their blood, even some unknown creatures--of how many races and tribes, having the powers from their ancestors?"
One of the children asked, the elderly woman shook her head. "According to the legends, the Winter Wolf and the Spring Serpent took refuge after causing too much damage, until nobody knows where they are went while the other two died from being hunted down by the anti-Canarians, these were the stories."
On the other side...
Solvine was looking at his daughter's photo on the desk in his office of National Postal Service, smiling wistfully as he was deeply immersed in memories from the past and the future. Memories that belonged to her as a girl, and with the others. He was reminiscing everything, about his late-wife and everything until he saw Sonata returned from the delivery parcels with Claire and Gabriel from his window--seeing her entering his office as she yawned and slumping herself on the chair, making him raised his eyebrows. "It's snowy outside... I need a heater..."
Sonata murmured, seeing the vintage heater in her father's office and made the white-haired man stood up from his desk to pat her head, earning a delighted smile on Sonata. "Father, can you tell me what does late-mom looks like when she's alive?" Sonata suddenly asked, her eyes bright and full of hope at her father--he paused and pondering before he give her a photo album. "Her name is Carina Nocturna, that time I didn't have a name when I met her," he said, staring at her lovely face as if it wasn't fading. "She was the one who named you, Sonata Nocturna. I remember that before we got separated because of Reverse Organization found our location and we run away, only for them caught you before I escape."
That was hard to forget, Sonata was so young and innocent--crying for her father but Reverse Organization wouldn't just let her escape without taking risks and a fight... her mother was killed by them and she was buried by the villagers after the organization left while her daughter was taken and kidnapped--their hell didn't last long for Sonata as she escaped from there with Suona when they were nine-years old.
"How come you're forever young, father?" Sonata asked, Solvine took a deep breath. "When Winter Wolf's gene passes through their family generation, only two are inherited. Both of them are different and special than what it seems," he said, Sonata's wolf ears perked up in excitement. "You're the first human with half-hybrid of my blood, Sonata. When we came across the bridge at your home town, that day was the day you were being given a name. The night, you changed...from a five-years old girl into a sixteen-years old..."
The Deputy Postmaster-General explained, before he was surprised when his daughter smiled and hugged him tight. "Thank you... for the chance and the memories," she said as her white tail was swaying back and forth, the wolf ears were perked up. Solvine smiled as he hugged his daughter back, patting her head as he could feel how warmth his daughter is... like Carina. He felt like home was already in his embrace, for they've been separated for decades and the hole of a father who lost his child came back to him, he didn't want to let go.
Not anymore, never.
Flashback...
Carina Nocturna is a beautiful eighteen-years old young adult with a long light-brown hair with square bangs hanging over her forehead with her side bangs fell on her cheeks, violet eyes and pink lips. She wears a white and blue noble dress with double buttoning, long flared blue skirt that reaches her ankles and black low-heeled shoes. For jewelry she wears a golden locket on her neck and a pair of sky blue and white earrings. She was walking down the path to the cave where there was a rumored treasure hidden inside, as the elders said.
"Eh? Is there really a treasure in here?" the brunette wondered as her pinkish colored lips pursed, her finger twirling on the wavy brown-colored locks as she closed her eyes and sighed, muttering to herself while she hoped she won't get into deep trouble. Luckily, she bought a lantern, in case she gets lost somewhere in the caves. As she arrived at the base, she took her lantern and lighting the fire and walking into the dark cave that didn't really bother her at the moment, because she always liked the darkness. It feels cold inside but thankfully it didn't smell like mud. The pathway in the cave was very different because instead of complete silence, the cave has the flowing echoes of water drips and flows from the stream.
Then she encountered an ice cave where there was a large, sleeping white wolf with pure snowy furs, so still and covered with icicles--but its' warmth radiated from within the body. Her brows furrowed, glancing at the wolf as she cautiously making her way to touch the huge creature when suddenly she let out a small shriek as a giant, blinding white spark burst and she got blinded for a few seconds when the lightning strikes. Carina flinched in fright, until she realized the beast was already awake. The mighty white wolf woke up and stared at her with a calm yet powerful pair of teal-blue eyes, standing and towering above the petite girl. "I-I'm sorry... I came here because of the treasure and about..." she murmured, looking away from its' fierce gaze but the white wolf stayed staring at her, patiently waiting for her to continue.
"Aren't you feeling scared at me, little girl?"
The infamous Winter Wolf spoke with a gentle and loud voice, Carina blinked and then she was making a face of disbelief before she approached the wolf, seeing him eyeing her curiously--she was smiling in amusement. "Are you... the Winter Wolf? You are?" she laughed slightly as she glanced back and forth to the wolf before her and the surroundings, looking around--since when she's a big fan and a believer in legends, believing them are all superstitious and probably untrue."There's no other creature that can become like me," the wolf answered, huffing as his fluffy white tail was swaying.
Carina let out a giggle, before she look up at him. "What's your name, beautiful?" she asked, the white wolf was silent for a moment. The legend stated that a Winter Wolf never spoken the words in the modern Canarian language, unlike Spring Serpent that taught others how to write and speak and being an open one to outsiders. "I don't have a name, but I don't pay mind with that anymore," he responded with a sigh. "I'm such a stranger of my own soul and body, the name is worthless in front of the blood within my veins..."
She closed her eyes while smiling and for her opinion, he's a funny kind of a wolf. "Then, if you don't have a name... then I can name you if you become human!"
The Winter Wolf raised his eyebrows. "I beg your pardon?"
"Everyone has a name, it isn't worthless... but if you want me to stay, then I'll name you," she said with a soft smile as she played with the strands of her hair, which the Winter Wolf stared at her for a long time and thought about it while Carina patiently waiting for his answer as her eyes were sparkling. The wolf look down for a moment, before he circled around her. "All right. If you choose to name me after these legends, then it will be meaningless if I have a new life ahead of me..."
"If that's the case... then I will give you a name, but you might forget it."
"Please don't, human girl," the wolf responded as he plopped down on his hunches, tilting his head and the girl was shocked at the soft and gentleman's voice from the enormous wolf, but she can't help but adored him for his kindness (somewhat his sarcasm is funny). "Oh well, then..." Carina was thinking, for a moment as she was thinking. Maybe because the white colors that he's got and his personality, Carina was stroking the long strands of white furs. "How about... Solvine?"
Her purple eyes were blinking, gazing at him and the wolf went dumbstruck at the name that was given, the ears went twitching and so does his tail when the wolf laughed heartily, showing his teeth-filled grin that can probably scarred anyone. "Solvine? Is that a name?" he said with a laugh, but the girl pouted. "What? Do you think this name's bad?" she wondered, looking perplexed but the wolf shook his head. "You misunderstand... I always love my name now, I'm almost flattered! I accept, but... maybe it should work."
"Also, I have a gift for you!"
The Winter Wolf felt a necklace wrapped around his neck, a locket with a crescent moon and silver feathers etched on it. Carina grinned widely. "I wished that you would bring us happiness, happiness to Canaria," she responded, before she froze when the creature suddenly glowing in bright light--she didn't realize that the locket has a rune that can turn him into a human... a man with long silver-white hair that hang freely over his forehead with straight fringes falling at the sides and bangs, same colored teal-blue eyes with white eyebrows, slightly pale complexion and pink lips--wearing a dark blue noble suit with a sky blue vest under the coat, black and sky blue ribbon necktie, white and black dress shirt, navy trousers and black boots, wearing a long black gloves on his hands--completely exposed by the light, and the woman was in awe and didn't believe it at first.
He examined himself in front of the mirror, before he spoke for a moment. "It's been a long time since my physical form is in this human version."
His eyes, which in the female's opinion was deep set in his eye sockets and he looked so young to be an ancient being, moreover his face... and he's handsome. His body wasn't bigger than hers, average size--a perfect specimen. He noticed how the brunette was staring at him, he took a quick glance at her--a petite figure in her human body but she looks graceful in her style. "What's your name, human girl?" he asked, Carina hummed.
"My name is Carina Nocturna," the girl introduced herself with a radiant smile, before she went flustered when he kneeled on one knee in front of her. He held her hand and bringing it to his lips, kissing the knuckles as he was gently smiling at her. "Lady Nocturna, my eternal devotion belongs to you as a testament for your beauty."
And her life became so different since then.
When she got married and had a child with him, she saw how the infant is a human girl with alabaster complexion, long messy snow-white hair, a white wolf ears and tail, and a matching teal-blue eyes--she was crying in the white satin blanket in the infant bed, before Carina cradled her and kissed the forehead. "My beautiful baby girl, that will be your new name..." Carina murmured, thinking about the name until a brilliant name appeared in her mind and she remembered her favorite lullaby--before she answered. "Sonata Nocturna, you will remember everything--everything in the day..."
End of Flashback...
Solvine felt how tight his daughter was hugging him, and it felt so wonderful for a cold-hearted, harsh person like him to be nice for a day--oh well, it's nothing compared for a father... who has a dark past. This must be the miracle of present and future. Before they get back to work, Solvine promised to tell Sonata more and more... about him and his time with Carina, the mother she never had. Sonata whimpered when he rubbed her cheeks with his thumbs while holding her face and patting her head in an affectionate way, he chuckled.
Meanwhile, Lloyd was sleeping on the couch in his office, being a relaxed and lazy Postmaster-General wasn't so bad. But for now, all he wanted to have sleep without getting bothered, not to mention Alastair usually barged into his room and waking him up--there was a pile of documents on the coffee table where he was drooling (and he already finished them). He shrieked when he heard his vintage rotary dial ringing continuously, calling out from his spot before he got up and yawned. "Seriously... it was lunch break already..." he whined, before he grabbed the telephone and answered the call. "Postmaster-General Lloyd Warren here, how can I help you?"
"Lloyd, it's been a long time since we had been contacting with each other! Are you in Welkin city?"
Lloyd is the eldest of the two siblings who were Largo and Layla Warren, his mother is a widow and her name is Yukiko Warren--the matriarch of the noble family and his brother is an eccentric and famous composer while his younger sister is working in the city hall of Welkin city. "M-Mother?!" he snapped comically, he really adored his mother but usually, it was sometimes kinda an awkward thing to catch up and chatted. Yukiko seemed so lively and energetic, so Lloyd's only sighed in defeat with that chatter-box and it was going to be over.
Yukiko adored her children despite being a single-mother raising their children on her own, because her husband is a lunatic who made an attempt to experiment... only to get a severe brain injury.
