Chapter Fourteen: Into the Bear's Jaw

Chapter Fourteen: Into the Bear's Jaw

October 31st, 1995

Dilimore, Little Bird.

Sonata was doing laundry cleaning her and her girlfriend's clothing in the town's laundromat.

Julia was at her stepfather's diner eating a greasy double cheeseburger with fries, chicken nuggets, and a large soda. She was happy that she isn't eating tasteless food but missed eating unhealthy food.

Julia paid for her meal and left after eating the whole meal and drank her drink and went to the laundromat. Sonata wasn't there but their clothing was there in the drying machine.

Julia got them but called out for Sonata but couldn't find her so she went to her and Sonata's house a prefabricated ranch-style two-bedroom, one-bath house.

Julia searched for Sonata there but the house was empty just with furniture. Julia then got the mail and one of them was her and Sonata's military pay of $83.20 but that's because the military took $90 or $45 out of both's salary to cover their off-base living.

Julia was worried about Sonata so she decided to call Sonata's brother who was driving in his car and answered his flip phone.

"This is SSGT Paul Jackson speaking," said Paul Jackson, "Who is this?"

Julia replied, "Technician Fifth Grade Julia Vance. You'd know your sister's lover. I'm here to speak business. Can we meet somewhere to talk?"

"Yeah. Can you meet me in Fort Sunction Park in the city of Ft Sunction? Within a couple of hours?" said SSGT Paul

Julia replied, "Yeah I'll be there within forty-five minutes to a couple of hours,"

"Ok then," said Staff Sergeant Paul, "I got errands to run but see you soon Jules,"

***

Forty-Five minutes later.

Julia got off an all-metal, streamlined train of four carriages and has an emergency exit in the cockpit.

Julia was now in the city of Fort Sunction and she saw high-rise buildings.

I'm definitely not in the town and deep countryside anymore, Julia thought, Well I'd better go to the park and talk with Paul.

Julia hailed a cab and got into the four-door sedan 1960 Checker Marathon and it said on the car that it was $0.30 per half mile, $0.60 per mile and the park is several miles away.

At the park facing south.

"Alright it'll be," said the Cab driver, "Two dollars and forty cents,"

Julia gave him three dollars and told him to keep the change.

***

In the park.

Julia sat down on a park bench facing north.

Soon a caucasian man with dark brown hair, hazel green eyes, and wearing a dark olive green army service uniform.

"Alright sweetie go play in the playground and leave daddy to work," said SSgt Paul, "I assume your Julia?"

Julia replied, "Are you Paul Jackson?"

"Yeah I am," said SSgt Paul, "May I sit down?"

Julia allowed him to sit down next to her.

"Paul do you know where Sonata is?" asked Julia

SSgt Paul replied, "If I knew I wouldn't say. I have Super Top Secret security clearance and knowing where SFG soldiers are falls under it. You and Sonata have Secret clearance levels. But she doesn't have much to do but I don't know where she is. Maybe she went to go donate her eggs or place her eggs on ice or to get them fertilize by a sperm donor. I don't know I haven't kept track on my baby sister since I joined the army. And what do I do I'm a mix of field operative and a pencil pusher!"

"Well she mysteriously vanished!" said Julia, "Did she have any enemies? Besides my dipshit brother and The Butcher's terrorst group. I don't know if anyone was her enemies,"

SSgt Paul replied, "I don't know if she had any enemies,"

"Well I don't know where to begin," said Julia, "I'm going to get a hot dog,"

Julia got up and went over to a street vendor and got two foot longs and a ice cold bottle of soda and went back to SSgt Paul.

"Can't you find where Sonata went?" asked Julia

SSgt Paul replied, "Well she isn't suppose to be anywhere due to it'll be delerction of duty. Sorry Julia there isn't a lot to work with. Maybe she went for a hike and is at home now,"

"Thanks Paul," said Julia, "Maybe I'm just overreacting and maybe she went for a quick walk while waiting for laundry to dry and is home eating dinner now,"

Julia went back home via train again.

8:30 PM.

Julia had to wait for the train to go back and did arrive at 8:30 at night and she caught the last train. But she went home and for an hour and fifteen minutes she passed out candy to trick or-treaters.

Julia was about to go to bed until she heard banging on the front door.

Julia went to answer it and it was a ransom note.

Julia was walking next to Paul.

"I got a random note last night," said Julia, "And I want you to look at it, But with your hands already being full I'll show you when you get to your desk"

In Paul's office.

"Cozy." said Julia

Paul replied, "Give me the note,"

Julia gave Paul the note and the note says: "Dear Jackass or Bitch. We have Sonata and if you want to see her alive bring $500000 to latitude 41.334712 and longitude 48.550091 you have three days,"

"We should look up these coordinates," said Julia

SSgt Paul replied, "It's Amsar, Quba, Azerbaijan. I've been there before helping some American 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta back in '88 when I was a private. Classified mission"

"Should we get a team ready?" asked Julia

Paul replied, "First of Julia this operation needs to be approved by either the War Dept or the Intelligence Agency. Second of the smaller the strike team the better."

SSgt Paul picked up a 1960's Americana styled phone and called someone.

"Alright Julia," said SSgt Paul, "Let's go rescue Sonata,"

Nighttime, Amsar Quba, Azerbaijan

"Alright Julia," said SSgt Paul, "They're expecting you to deliver the money. You'll have a suppressed .45 pistol and a fighting knife,"

I guess we're in the bear's jaw now, Julia thought, Better save Sonata

Julia went up and had a suitcase full of money and went to a farm and there was a guy standing there with an AK series rifle who asked Julia what she wants and she told him that she has the money.

The terrorist started to lead Julia towards the farm only for her to drop the suitcase and stabbed the terrorist in the heart with the knife and hid the body in the farm. She then picked up the suitcase and headed towards the farm and to the barn.

Staff Sergeant Paul Jackson and his team of an infantryman, grenadier, bazooka man, and sniper. They moved up but kept their distance.

There was a massive explosion from the barn and the shockwave knocked them all down.

"Come on Julia," said SSgt Paul. "We need to get out of here!"

SSgt Paul and to literally drag Julia back.

"Staff Sergeant," said the Grenadier, "We're requested back home,"

Back home.

"Looks like The Butchers terrorist group," said SSgt Paul, "Have taken over the town of Hope. But we'll have support from the Second Armored Division and the Fifth Infantry Division!"

A pilot said, "Touching down in ten!"

They landed.

"We got to secure the Flurry Tried-Arch bridge!" said SSgt Paul, "If not then the second armored would have to find another way around!"

They stormed the bridge and it was lightly guarded but the Eastside of the bridge was stormed by the G.I's from the Fifth Infantry Division and several tanks from the Second Armored.

Far away.

"Now!" said Joshua Vance

Someone pressed the explosive plunger but nothing happened.

"NOW!" said Joshua, "NOW! NOW! NOW!"

Each time the blasting machine was pushed down nothing happened.

"What can we do to stop them?" asked another Terrorist, "Who can stop them?"

Joshua replied, "Nobody,"

On the way to the town of Hope.

There was a collum of tanks of M1947 MBT (M46 Patton), M1948 MBT (M47 Patton), M1951 (M48 Patton), and M1961 MBT (M60 Patton). They were half-assed blocked on the road but there was a huge field and Julia and Paul got off the third tank which is an M1947 MBT.

There was an explosion and it was from an RPG round. The soldiers and SFG soldiers were getting shot at from the treeline.

"Julia give me your assault carbine!" said SSgt Paul

Julia did and he replaced the 40x43mm M406 HE grenade with a 40x43mm M682 red smoke, smoke grenade. Paul then fired the grenade launcher and gave it back to Julia and she fired the rifle.

After a few minutes, there was a loud sound where it was a squadron of Little Bird Air Force multi-role LB-15 "Unicorn" jets, and they each dropped six canisters of Napalm or eighteen in total.

They then moved on but left 120 soldiers behind to search the area and to make sure the terrorists are put down.

***

In the town of Hope.

The Terrorists had buildings as cover and used the inside of the buildings but the G.I's and SFG soldiers were trained in CQC combat not adding one soldier per squad armed with a Baker 311 Military (W M1897 Trench Gun), Baker 312 Military (M1912 Trench Gun), Baker 350 (M500), Baker Tactical (Remington 1100), W1200's, Steakout (Ithaca 37's), Baker Police Special, Baker 320 (Steven 520), Baker 360 (620), & Baker-05 (A-5).

The Terrorists don't have anything made for CQB but they were quickly gunned down and sliced to ribbons litterly.

***

In a building.

Julia kicked a door in and it lead to a garage but she went outside and found a shed.

Julia opened the shed door and shot a terrorist standing up but found Sonata tied up in a chair. She has broken arms, broken hands, and a broken nose with a black eye.

Julia ran over and cut her free but Sonata can't walk due to the Butchers also breaking her leg and it hurts very badly.

"Medic need a damn medic!" yelled Julia

Julia then placed Sonata down so she could be out of harm's way but on the two-lane street were two M1961 MBTs firing their coaxial 7.62mm GPMG and Commander's .50 Caliber MG and every now and again their 105mm cannons firing High Explosive rounds.

"Come on Sonata," said Julia, "Stay with me!"

Sonata replied, "Tho... Those fuck-o's took a fu...fuc...fucking hammer to me,"

"I'm going to make sure a doctor sees you," said Julia, "Just got to hang tight. Just hold on tight,"

Sonata replied, "Th...Tha...Thank you Julia for saving me,"

"You're welcome Sonata," said Julia, "But what are lovers for? Also, your brother thought you were going to place your eggs on ice, going to donate them or get them fertilized,"

Sonata replied after giving a short giggle, "Damn that hurts. Me a mother at the age of nineteen? Maybe those country gals but not me maybe when I'm in my late twenties or in my thirties or forties but not now. Not adding where are we going to have the time to raise a child? Not adding a majority of the men I've met are rude, standoffish and all that."

Julia then placed Sonata down for a bit and ran off to get a medic.

Julia was able to find a combat medic who then ran over to Sonata and he radioed for a military air ambulance.

The good news is that Sonata's gonna make a full recovery but she'll be out several months and should be battle ready by the first day of Spring.
