Chapter Eighteen: Back home

March 15th, 2000

World War Three came to an end with a ceasefire. It didn't turn out how the Warsaw Pact and the USSR imagined how it would become but the Soviets became desperate enough that they sent their 2nd Shock Army to invade Little Bird to open up another front only to make the Battle for Omaha beach look like a cakewalk except for the other way around.

Back home well in the city of Chocolate.

Sonata Jackson was walking down a hallway in the War Department.

Sonata knocked on a door that has her brother's name on it and her brother told her to enter.

"What are you reading or writing?" asked Sonata

Paul replied, "Statistics and all that. During the war we made enough ammo to kill the world's population twenty times over! Let's see our population is 42, 100,232 and 17,294,194 fought in the war and the rest stayed here. Well can I help you Sonata?"

"Uh well when the big day does come," said Sonata, "I was wondering if you'll be my best man?"

Paul replied, "When is your and Julia's big day?"

"I don't know," said Sonata, "I'm looking for a job where we can get married and have kids. But we're planning to have one within five years though,"

Paul replied, "Well I'll be there. Also, you can be like me and be a pencil pusher where you'll be off by five and all that. Or you can leave the military and find a normal job. Also have you considered sperm donation where you can be artificially inseminated by a man who donated his sperm?"

"Okay then," said Sonata, "Also, I'm picky about who I want to donate their sperm to fertilize my egg when I'm a little bit older. So far the men I met are sexist, misogynistic, and patriarchal jackasses! Do you know how many men I talked to who said to me 'women should be home only cooking, cleaning, having babies, and do as their boyfriends/husbands say at the drop of a hat!' I more or less tell them to fuck off because women have the same rights as men in this country! If a woman wants to be a housewife and have kids that's great but I'm not going to be a housewife!"

Paul replied, "Okay then just calm down. A lot of women in this country have jobs and families. Not every woman is going to be a housewife. Have you read a recent poll done that one out of three women said they would rather be a housewife and the other two wants to work? My wife works. Heck, I worked with some Intelligence Agency agents who are women and they have families. I worked with an IA Field Agent named 'Star Cake Maud'. Yes I know a weird name but she has a daughter and she's working,"

'Doesn't she have a husband?" asked Sonata

Paul replied, "When I asked. She told me he was in prison for some crimes she didn't tell me and I didn't push my luck,"

Sonata's stomach grumbled.

"Well have a nice day brother," said Sonata

Paul replied, "You too Sonata. Take care,"

Sonata then left the office and soon walked out of the War Office and walked down the street and entered a 1950s Americana-styled diner.

Sonata just ordered a cheeseburger with curly fries and Sparkling Cola. She ate in peace and quiet but she did look at her medals which she has the Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Distinguished Shooter Badges both rifle and pistol, Army Achievement Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Silver Star, and Army Distinguished Service Cross.

After eating lunch, Sonata called Julia to come and get her but Julia was busy and she'll be there in four hours so she went and saw two movies and spent the last thirty minutes reading tabloids from a newsstand that she bought for ten cents each and she got four tabloids and paid them with a dollar and told the vendor to keep the change.

Julia did come and took Sonata home and when they got back to Dilimore it was dinner time and not to Sonata's surprise, Julia made dirty rice by using two pounds of ground beef and a box of rice.

Sonata didn't complain because while in the war she mostly ate chipped beef on toast.

Julia also told Sonata that while she was busy fighting she was here on the homefront doing homeland defense and protected military assets and all that.
