Jayden was at home laying down on his bed. His phone started to ring.
"What?" He answered.
"You answer the phone by saying "what"? What's wrong with you? We gotta work on that bud."
"Noah?"
"Hey Jayden! Yes it's me!" It was Noah.
"What the hell do you want?"
"Can you come to this super secret place?"
"No."
"Please?"
"Fine, where is it?" Jayden sighed.
"Go read the note on the fridge."
"Oh fuck no, not one of these."
"Yes, one of these! There is a clue on the fridge, like I said!" And then he hung up.
Jayden was already regretting his decision.
He got up to go look at the fridge. Noah was right there was a little blue sticky note. The handwriting was messy, so it wasn't Noah's. Jayden always thought Noah had really "girly" handwriting. Anyway, the note said:
Good morning! Noah said to do rhymes or something but, I don't know how. So just go to the food mart. Also don't eat any of the food there!
Ben~♡
Jayden didn't know what was going on, but he did like the note Benjamin made. Jayden got dressed to go.
Jayden slammed the front door open and there was an immediate loud thump. Sure enough, Benjamin had been outside the door waiting for him.
"Hello. I will escort you." Benjamin said, smiling but also in viable pain.
"Oh my god! I'm so fucking sorry!" Jayden rushedly apologized.
"It's good! Anyways, are you ready?"
"Wait, Doesn't that defeat the purpose of writing the clue? I thought it was going to be a mystery thing that I have to figure out."
"Jason suggested that I should help you because we don't trust Noah not to throw you in the face of danger. He was actually going to make the whole thing a lot more dangerous for you." Benjamin said.
"That definitely sounds like him."
Benjamin and Jayden started walking down the street towards the Food Mart. Along the way talking about random stuff.
"So, why do Noah and Liam keep talking about walruses, and giraffes?" Jayden asked Benjamin. "Like, I don't get it, in what circumstances would a walrus need to fight a giraffe?"
"I'm not sure, I think it's just them being weird." Benjamin said.
"Yeah probably."
"I can tell you and Noah are really close though. Must be nice right?"
"Uh, I don't know… I don't really know if we're close."
"Really? Cause Noah seems to really care about you."
"Well yeah we care about each other, it's only natural. But I always thought that I cared more about him than he did me." Jayden thought for a moment. "I really do like him as a big brother though. Even if he might be clinically insane."
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
"That's really nice. I always wished that I had a sibling. I grew up in an orphanage until I was eight and got adopted. But I've always wanted someone close to hangout with."
"I had no idea you were adopted." Jayden paused. "Um…I can't really be a brother to you but," Jayden paused again. "We can hang out... together."
Benjamin smiled.
"I'd love that."
******
The boys arrive at the food mart. It was completely empty, only the sounds of tiny breathing. In hindsight, it's probably always empty because no one would ever, in their right mind, buy food that screams when eaten.
They started to look for the next clue. It took about 15 minutes of basically tearing the place apart before Jayden decided to give up.
"Tell me where it is, ben." Jayden didn't feel like looking for a long time for a dumb note.
"I have no idea where they put it, they didn't tell me a thing." Benjamin replied.
"Ugh, this is dumb." Jayden said, picking up a pear.
Now Jayden has never been to this store before, and those who stuck around long enough to read this "interesting" story, you know what's gonna happen.
Jayden took a bite. The pear opened its eyes, and let out a horrible scream.
"AHHHHH! YOU FUCK! AHH HOLY SHIT! YOU DICK, YOU ABSOLUTE DICK!"
Jayden looked down at the pear in fear. Jayden was horrified. The pear was screaming out in pain, and he didn't know what to do. Jayden looked at Benjamin.
"Oh no, Jayden, I told you not to eat the food." Benjamin said.
"W-what do I do?!" Jayden was freaking out.
"You have to eat its face off I guess." Benjamin actually didn't look too sure about that.
"DON'T YOU DARE YOU LITTLE FUCK!" The pear threatened.
"I don't want to." Jayden said, terrified.
"It's okay, it can't feel a thing." Benjamin said, trying to calm Jayden down.
"Yes it can! Oh God, it can feel everything!" Jayden couldn't take this traumatizing experience anymore. He put the pear down, and walked out of the store. Benjamin followed.
"I don't wanna do this anymore." Jayden looked sick, and as if he was on the verge of throwing up.
Benjamin got out his phone, and called Noah.
"Um, yeah. We couldn't find the second clue, can you just tell us where it is? Oh, okay. Later then." Then he hung up, "I'll go get the clue, you stay here." Benjamin went inside, and came back with the note.
The note said:
Heya, I don't know how to rhyme so I'm just gonna give you the clue. Cool? Ok, just go to the forest and eat this weird ass mushroom.
Liam.
"Hell no. I'm tired of this, shit! I'm not going to eat some weird ass mushroom off the ground." Jayden said.
"But don't you wanna see what happens?" Benjamin asked.
"No."
"But we'll get to hangout more, right?" Benjamin said, looking straight into his eyes.
"Okay." Jayden caved.
The boys walked to the forest in search of the weird ass mushroom.
Jayden and Benjamin soon arrive at the forest. Yeah for some reason there is a whole freaking forest in the middle of their town. The boys started walking in. The forest was disturbing. It was quiet, and still.
"This place gives me the creeps." Benjamin said, looking around.
Jayden didn't want to be there. His day was crappy enough, thanks to Noah of course.
They looked around for the so-called "weird ass mushroom", and had to go deeper into the woods to find it.
After scanning the ground for a while, they saw it.
It was pretty easy to know it was the weird ass mushroom, mostly because it was just a mushroom but dyed rainbow colors.
"I'm pretty sure this is the one. I mean, it looks as gay as Noah." Jayden said.
"Yep, I think so. So what do you think we do with it?" Benjamin said, turning to Jayden.
"Didn't the note say we have to eat it?"
"I think the clue is inside."
"Okay, but if this kills me I want you to kick Noah's ass for me." Jayden said, picking up the mushroom. He took a bite out of the mushroom, and to Jayden's surprise it tasted really good.
"Woah, this shit is good!"
Jayden ate the whole thing. But there was no note inside of the weird ass mushroom.
Oh wow I think they have the wrong mushroom.
"Wait, where is the note? It should be here. Did the author make a mistake?" Benjamin said, looking up to the sky.
Don't look at me, I have no idea what's even happening anymore. This is Noah's fault. probably. Also don't address me! You're supposed to be in a fictional story, so act like it.
"Right, sorry." Benjamin looked back down.
Jayden didn't seem to care that there was no note. Let's just say he was skipping through daisies. Literally.
"Woah! I feel amazing! What is this feeling? Could it be happiness?" Jayden said joyfully. Jayden started spinning around in circles.
Benjamin was confused. So he decided to call Noah again.
"Noah there's no note." Benjamin said.
"What do you mean?" Noah asked.
"He ate the mushroom, there's no note."
"Did you get the right mushroom?"
"Yeah, the rainbow one right?"
"No, what? The one we put was blue! Oh God Benji, where is he?"
"Umm."
"I feel so fucking alive! Hahaha!" Jayden yelled.
"Umm." Benjamin repeated.
"Is… is that my brother?" Noah asked, with genuine concern in his voice.
"Yes."
"You know what, just come over here. Don't even bother with the Last note. Just bring him to the spot." Noah said.
Benjamin could hear Jason in the background, "Hey! I worked hard on that note! I even made it rhyme like you asked!" Then the sound of Noah hanging up the phone.
Benjamin went over to Jayden, and picked him up, and put him over his shoulder. Jayden didn't make it easy on him though. He started squirming a lot, as well as yelling.
"OOOOOH! I'M FUCKING FLYING! AHH!" Oh boy Jayden, get a hold of yourself. For the sake of Benjamin at least.
So Benjamin had to carry a super zonked out (I believe that's the technical term, I don't know I've never eaten a drug.) Jayden through the rest of the forest. It was hard, but he did it.
Finally they got to where Noah, Jason, and Liam were waiting. Benjamin let Jayden down, and Noah came to greet him.
"Happy birthday baby brother!" Noah said, hugging Jayden.
Jayden looked around. There were streamers on the trees, and there were balloons everywhere. There was a table with food, and another table with presents. The other boys were looking at him, and smiling.
Jayden looked at noah.
"My birthday isn't for another two days though."
"That's fine, I wanted to celebrate my favorite person's birthday early. Plus if we did it on your birthday it would have been obvious… and I plan on getting beat up and hospitalized that day."
" O-oh okay.” Jayden looked down and smiled. "Thanks Noah."
The boys celebrated Jayden's birthday for the rest of the day. They had a wonderful time and Jayden felt really happy.
"You're smiling like crazy." Benjamin said.
"Yeah." Jayden stared at the cup he was holding, smiling.
"It's cute to see you this happy."
"Huh-"
Before Jayden could question Benjamin, Noah called his name.
"Jayden! I have one last thing for you!" Noah yelled.
Jayden blushed, trying not to make eye contact with Benjamin and hurried over to Noah.
Noah pulled out a small present from his pocket.
"What's this?" Jayden wasn't expecting another gift.
"Open it." Noah pushed the small box into his hands.
Jayden opened the box. Inside was a tube of eyeliner and a black choker. Jayden looked up at Noah.
"I snooped at your online wishlist. You should have told me you wanted to dress more emo." Noah smiled warmly at him.
"It's not emo! It's… it's goth."
"Same thing. Let your inner goth boy shine. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks." Noah hugged his brother.
"Thanks, it's exactly what I wanted." Jayden smiled.
